KOEI Tecmo has just announced an official remake of FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly. This game will come out on PC in early 2026, and below you can find its debut trailer.
FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE is a full remake of the second game in the famous horror series. This Japanese horror classic, loved by fans all over the world, tells the story of twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura. While visiting a stream from their childhood, Mio remembers the past, but Mayu is pulled away by a strange red butterfly. Following it, she ends up in a mysterious village that doesn’t seem to exist.
In this dark village where night never ends, the twin sisters are chased by angry spirits tied to a mysterious ritual. After being separated, Mio must search for Mayu and find a way to escape. Her only weapon is the Camera Obscura, a special camera that can trap and defeat ghosts. But Mio doesn’t realize that her actions are repeating the events of the past. This will eventually take her deep into the village, where she will uncover the chilling truth about the “forbidden ritual that must never be seen.”
FATAL FRAME II: Crimson Butterfly REMAKE will fully upgrade the original game with better graphics, improved sound, and smoother gameplay. The controls have also been updated to feel more modern and easy to use. The Camera Obscura, the series’ most important tool, will now give players an even more exciting experience – both when exploring the village and when battling ghosts.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

So happy to see this underrated series revived. I hope we get a new entry soon.
Just REMASTER the original trilogy that was released on PS2 and release it on PC with PC specific options. These games were peak horror on PS2, the original trilogy can be played on PCSX2 easily and runs beautifully at 4k resolution.
PS3 tier game that will be broken, and unoptimized.
After all, it is Koei Tecmo.
I love this series but why FF2 and not 1 ? This is so dumb.
Same reason why Silent Hill 2 got a remake. Fatal Frame 2 has higher money making potential being the better, more successful game.
omg so cute
Did you mean *creepy?
Nono, cute asian waifu
Scam Citizen is getting delayed again. Told you. "But they have a release date", someone insisted, repeatedly. LOL. They had a release date.
The main characters are in the uncanny valley – very creepy looking.
Beautiful
Sony was ahead of it's time when they remade the first SIREN game as a western take on japanese horror. Too bad the series got stagnat.
