Fable Legends Will Not Be Available On Steam, Exclusive To Windows 10 Store

Lionhearted’s Social Media Coordinator revealed on Twitter that Fable Legends will not be available on Steam. As Lauran claimed, this PC free-to-play title will not be coming to Valve’s distribution service. And if this is any indication, then we can safely assume that neither Killer Instinct will appear on Steam.

Lauran later added.

Whether this means that all the upcoming Microsoft games (Halo Wars 2, Gears of War Ultimate Edition andΒ Sea of Thieves, alongside Killer Instinct) are Windows 10 Store exclusives remains to be seen.

  1. can’t complain, they already said they can’t compete Steam plus people should stop being so entitled to Steam yes it is ok but that doesn’t mean everything has to be there, releasing a game on steam means it will take up to 30% of your sales that’s why EA has Origin and now Microsoft its store

    1. I think I’m “entitled” to Steam simply because what MS did to PC gaming. When MS introduced the 360, PC gaming was left to die on it’s own. Devs like id and Epic left the PC and concentrated their new engines for consoles. FPS that was once a PC exclusive became console staples in months. It was a horrible time to be a PC gamer and MS’s empty promises every year made it worse. Then, Valve came along with a little service called Steam.

I’m not just holding an unwarranted grudge against MS for that slice of the past. Your examples, EA and MS, are not the best seeing what they are doing to their games. EA is too focus in making micro-transaction heavy games and trying to jump start the always online DRM several times. Sim City is dead because of that, The Sims is just a placeholder for DLCs and the upcoming Need For Speed is again bringing back the atrocious DRM.

MS is focus in capturing the micro-transaction and F2P market of PC gaming. They experimented this by ripping apart Age of Empires and MS Flight Simulator and turning them into F2P games! Just look at the majority of the early big games slated for Windows 10s – one remaster of an XB franchise while the rest are F2Ps like Killer Instinct and Fable Legends. I won’t be surprised if the newly teased Halo War 2 will also be a F2P or micro-transaction heavy.

    2. The word “entitled”. How to know you are dealing with a shareholder, marketing or
someone dumb enough to repeat things they say.

Here is what we are “entitled” to if MS wants us to use this stupid store.

      1. MS announces they will NEVER again pay to delay or keep a third party game off PC and apologize for every time they have done it (A LOT). That means Rise of the Tomb Raider is released the same day as Xbox. Whoops. They already screwed that up with their new “commitment”.
      2. Actually put titles they do make for Xbox that people want on that windows store. Whoops that ain’t happening. Phil already said no to Forza and Halo and told us to wait a few YEARS for any “commitment”.
      3. If they do not do 2? Make games designed around a keyboard and mouse and not a dumb controller in genres where it does not work. Example? Halo 2 should have been a PC exclusive or required a keyboard and mouse for the XB1 (which they can purchase and use).

    3. You always pay a price for putting your games in the popular place like Steam, whether you like it or not, Steam is where most PC players go for games. Ubisoft and EA want their own store so they charge their own silly high prices and lock their games into their own client. Microsoft are doing the same thing and why Windows 10 is free so you can buy from their store only.

      1. me too, not that i don’t like the OS, but i don’t trust MS and they will find a way to screw it up. because of that i kept my win7 and installed 10 on another drive just in case and only used it 2~ hours since it’s release.

        1. Man… if only DX12 was not an exclusive + i extremely hate that stupid Material Design I can’t deal with it… Material Design was the main thing that keeps me away from windows 8 and 10.

    1. The only things that interest me about this game is seeing how well DX12 is used and seeing how well cross play between PC and console players are.

The cross play concerns me most because I am really excited about playing Street fighter 5 vs PS4 players.

  2. I am not bothered by this. I don’t mind my EA games to be on Origin, Ubisoft games to be on UPlay, Microsoft games to be Windows/Xbox Store and all other games on Steam and GOG.

    1. I have almost all my EA games in Origin (I own Mirror’s Edge on Steam and have a 2nd one in Origin as well), some games in GoG, some at other sites as well. My main game source is and still will be Steam but if the game is not there what can I do about it.
And Ubisoft games are weird because you buy them through Steam but then you have them in their store as well.

  3. Hope they enjoy the 50 people that play a F2P MMO designed around a console controller. 40 of which will be running DX 12 benchmarks on GPU’s.

Brilliant design decision and a sure fire way to get people on Windows 10. Only thing more awesome would be a repeat of the mistake they made with Stormrise and Creative Assembly and making an RTS designed around a console controller. NM. They are doing that with Halo 2. I will watch the cut scenes on youtube. They will be the best part of the game.

Bring on Vulkan API. None of these games mean jack to me, the MS store is something I will NEVER use, since they have already said Forza, Halo are not coming to PC, and Forza is the only game they have ever made from first party I even consider good since they started the Xbox division. The really GOOD games they made were PC exclusives, designed around PC controls and they shut down those studios a long, long time ago. I do not want a half $$@ed Age of Empires built around a controller. MS cares so little about this platform that even our remasters are delayed, of a game we already had, before they paid for that series to be kept off PC…

Oh and Rise of the Tomb Raider? I hope people pirate the living heck out of it. I am not giving this company a dime for paying to delay a third party game off PC. If you want to encourage that behavior? Go right ahead. Make sure to tell MS “please sir may I have another” right after you bend over.

    1. Don’t worry everything is coming to PC. Microsoft is going try their luck one last time to get people to buy Xbox Ones this holiday season and 1st half of 2016 and then once they come to the realization that Xbox One is never going to be a success they will have no choice to focus more on Windows 10 and PC.

      1. Phil Spencer to Eurogamer “so let’s not talk about the next 6 months but talk about the next three or four years – you’ll see more and more developers that are building these games that are appropriate for any screen that the gamer’s sitting down on. And that’s just more opportunity for gamers and developers.”

        1) YEARS
        2) “appropriate for any screen”

Know what that appropriate statement means? Based on a console controller. MS does not give a @$%@ about PC Gaming other than selling us a new OS on a new computer, where they make 100 dollars for doing jack. If they have to convince naive people they care every few years to do that? They are more than willing to, with some vague promises and some castoffs from Xbox. They used to make PC exclusive games. They realized PC Gamers were so stupid? They could skip that, throw us some scraps, then abandon us, when the scraps “don’t sell or do well”. For some reason people still have not caught on.

        1. It all went to sh*t when they introduced the Xbox, it’s all they care about when it comes to gaming and they have and will shovel the Xbox brand to PC users as well.

We PC gamers mostly have use the XBox controller now and they have monopolised that market as well.

          1. I’ve got two Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2s, a Sony DualShock 3, and a CH FlightStick (for the occasional foray into IL-2 Sturmovik) working beautifully in Windows 10.

If I were to buy another controller, it would be either a Steam controller or a DualShock 4. Or both.

  4. You mean the exact same thing they did with Vista? Of course that is what they are going to do. When Phil Spencer LIED to Eurogamer and said this about Forza and Halo? It was pretty apparent that this is Windows Vista 10 and this is GFWL 2.0.

“There isn’t a tremendous request today for racing games like Forza on PC,” says Spencer. “Obviously through the streaming we showed in January you’ll be able to play on any of the PCs you have in your home. I don’t want to build things because you can build them, I want to build things that our customers are asking for.

“We obviously put Halo on PC before – you go back and look and there’s obviously strong… The first-person shooter space on PC is a little bit different than on console if you look at the business model and other things that work, so we’d want to land the right experience. If you play this out – so let’s not talk about the next 6 months but talk about the next three or four years – you’ll see more and more developers that are building these games that are appropriate for any screen that the gamer’s sitting down on. And that’s just more opportunity for gamers and developers.”

Notice he said YEARS for this “so called commitment” to PC Gaming. Killer Instinct is only on PC because the game is dead and PS4 announced SFV on PS4/PC crossplay FIRST, and also did Rocket League.MS (late to the party as usual) is claiming this is a exclusive Windows 10 feature (BS). Gears 1 we already had and he is delaying it. They are only putting it on PC so people buy a XB1 for the new one, when that is a Epic Games series and the new Gears will prob be as bad as the new Halo’s (not Bungie). The rest are F2P games that would DIE within a month only on Xbox One. When they fail, they will be like “hey we tried creating things first party”, then go back to money hat exclusives, which is all they have ever really done besides Forza.

    1. Well on the bright side, the game will be horrible and they will get trolled by Peter Molyneux. Getting trolled by him, when he has his own problems with kick starter and BS, should be hilarious.

A Molyneux/MS twitter feud should be more entertaining than the actual game.

    1. Archie always includes source links. He simply forgot to add the link to the source at the end of this particular article πŸ™‚

  5. This comes at no surprise. Good luck trying to install games from the store on a different drive than your os. You can’t

  6. I have 863 games on Steam. If it’s not on Steam then I’ll find it on a torrent. Good job supporting PC gaming Microsoft.

    1. How did they F up? You need windows 10 anyways… besides it’s their game why should they have to share it… did EA F up for only having BF and various other games only on Origin?

You might be the most negative twit on here
