EverQuest Next Landmark – Closed Beta Testing Begins Today

Sony Online Entertainment announced today that EverQuest Next Landmark has transitioned from its Alpha stage into Closed Beta. Coming off a successful Alpha, the team is ready to open Landmark for more players, more discoveries and more creativity.

Dave Georgeson, Director of Development for the EverQuest franchise, said:

“Alpha was an extraordinary time where the players blew us away with their creations at every turn. Time and time again, players are discovering and building things with our tools in ways that we didn’t even know were possible … we simply cannot wait to see how Landmark evolves with the start of Closed Beta.”

EverQuest Next Landmark enables players to construct their wildest dreams and find their own path, with some of the most intuitive building and content creation tools ever offered in an online game.  Landmark will be an online game unlike any that has come before – players will gain fame, acclaim, and even fortune based on the things they discover, build, and create.

Have fun!

  1. for closed beta you must first buy “funder’s pack” at 19.99$ (cheapest) to be able to play. all of the items in funder’s pack are useless. for a free to play game it’s not worth it. it’s not worst than planetside 2 but still expensive BETA

    1. “it´s not worst than Planetside 2” What does it mean? lol

I got into the Planetside 2 closed beta for free and then a couple of days after the public release I bought the Founders Pack which gave me Station Cash to buy stuff, a couple of +50% XP boosters (6 months each and still have one of them without use)…If you think that is bad…Also the game is good for me so it all was good.

You don´t need to pay (or are forced to) for Everquest Landmark Closed Beta, sign up for the closed beta and just wait…you may enter or not as always. That is why it is called “CLOSED”.
No one is forcing you to buy the founders pack as no one forced me to buy it in Planetside 2. I bought it because I liked the game after all.

Then for the open beta you won´t need to wait (or “pay”) so what´s the problem? Don´t understand.

      1. planetside 2 was filled with microtransactions, expensive guns with the same skin. without these packs you are nothing, basicly a p2w title.
btw i registered for closed beta months ago

        1. You never played the game as far as I can tell. One thing is that you need to play for a certain amount of time to get weapons…but this game doesn´t work like any other MP FPS in where you unlock weapons while reaching levels.
Here you gain XP and CERTS (credits of the game) and then you have all the weapons to buy depending how you play…If you play close quarters you can “buy” (with credits NOT REAL MONEY) an SMG or shotgun, if you play long range you´ll get an specific weapons…so you won´t need to buy all weapons or all the stuff in the game.
Each class has its own specialization and it makes an actual difference depending which one you choose…sometimes this game plays more like a Role FPS in where you care for your characters and how to level up your characters more than just play and kill like at any other shooter.

And no “Pay to win” is not present here since you only can get certain weapons, but also those weapons can be bought with ingame credits (CERTS) so there is no difference at all…if you pay the only thing that assure you is to get that weapon (if you like it and if it fits your gameplay style) before the other guys…IF those guys don´t have certs. (there is not an specific way to play, nor the game forces you to play in a way)

You clearly never played the game and have no idea how the system works at all.
With real money you can buy COSMETIC stuff which does nothing to the actual balance.
The real difference in this game is if you play alone or in groups/squads/teams/outfits…If you play alone “a la CoD” you are screwed but you still can do it…but if you play with more people that is the real and unique advantage…TEAMWORK is what gives you the advantage…not a weapon that you can pay with money or with credits.

So no and again…no pay to win here.

I won´t be playing Planetside 2 if there is any pay to win at all. The same with Survarium Closed beta, War Thunder, Hawken, Warframe, Path of Exile, Dota 2…etc.

There are pay to win titles for sure…but these mentioned are clearly not.

PS: Also microtransactions and premium accounts is the only way for them to make money…What can you expect from a F2P title? That´s the unique way to make some money…in Planetside they explained that if 10% of the actual people who plays the game put some money in it, that´s all that they need to keep supporting it and keeping alive.

I can agree if you may like or not the progression system, you may think is works too slow or that you need to invest time in it to get certain things…That´s true…but like in any other MP game in where you play to unlock a rank to get your favourite weapon…you unlock 50 weapons and then you end using a couple of the whole package, and you started with the ones you don´t like for sure. At least here in Planetside you start with a regular set of weapons but after putting some hours into it you can buy the one you like the most right away because you actual work for that. You say one day “oh I want this stuff, how much it costs in CERTS? Oh well in 4 hours of game-play I can have it just by PTFO”.
It is different but it basically works the same way and maybe even better…better than having to way to unlock rank 150 after 400 hours of gameplay to get a pretty cool weapon. I can be rank 5 or 10 in Planetside 2 and get (for free) the “best weapon” in the game.

  2. I saw TB´s video trying the Alpha build and it was quite cool…is not a game of my preference since you need to dedicate a lot of time into it…but it is cool.
