Bioware has just confirmed that Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t have any 3rd party DRM on PC. This means that the game won’t have Denuvo, the anti-tamper tech that EA has used in pretty much all of its latest PC releases.
The devs have also shared some more detailed PC requirements for their action RPG. Alongside the “traditional” PC specs, we also got detailed requirements for its Ray Tracing version.
Let’s begin with the non-RT version. To run the game at 4K with an average of 60fps, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 12900K or an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon 7900XTX.
To have all the RT effects enabled, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 9900K or an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 3080 or an AMD Radeon 6800XT. That’s for gaming at 1440p with 30fps.
Finally, for gaming at 4K with 30fps with all the bells and whistles enabled, you’ll need an Intel Core i9 12900K or an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA RTX 4080 or an AMD Radeon 7900XTX. That’s the exact PC system that can run the non-RT version at 4K with 60fps.
In its notes, BioWare did not include any upscaling methods being used to hit these resolutions and framerates. Thus, we can assume that these PC specs are for native resolutions. OK, I must be blind because the notes suggest that an optional upscaler is used to hit those framerates. So, those numbers are most likely with DLSS Super Resolution and/or FSR Super Resolution.
Since Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t have any 3rd party DRM, it won’t be available for pre-loading on PC. That’s a bummer as the game will require 100GB of free disk space. Still, I can’t really complain about it.
EA will release Dragon Age: The Veilguard on October 31st. As we’ve already reported, the game will support ray-traced reflections and ray-traced shadows. Moreover, there will be support for NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 (though it seems that it won’t support AMD FSR 3.0 FG). Not only that but the game won’t require the EA App.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

No bloat drm, no bloat launcher… they seems to be making a few right decisions at-least. Shame it looks like what we get will be woke / cartoon crap but ill wait for based reviews before saying a definate no.. but its leaning 95% towards saved money
Hey itll still be a fun time in a year. There's plenty else to play so why not wait longer and get it on a stronger discount if its still interesting?
Got years of gaming backlogs so is never in any rush, and as it looks this will be a pass but time will tell!
oh for sure, I guess wish me luck then on 31st. If not Stalker 2 looks promising and the rest of my backlog got me too. I told myself I gotta finish Remnant 2 by the end of this year and Metaphor has been a blast.
Good to know the kind of games you say "it's a blast" so I can ignore your opinions about games in the future.
You dont have to listen to me, metaphor has been critically and widely celebrated. It really is a refresh of the persona style they have pedaling.
Just for the record, I wasn’t trying to be rude, just pointing out that you and I like different games and I won’t give credits for your opinion about them.
And I don’t like Persona-style games. It’s all The Sims to me, and they’re disgusting.
That’s fair. I do hope you do find some other new games to have a “blast” with in that case.
Its not persona style but turn based game, they all look similar
Which games do you prefer? I hope nothing open world and online?
I like single player games with good stories, don’t mind if it is open world or not.
Being a mystery/horror/thriller is a plus.
Walking sims are welcome, provided they’re not just hide and seek (Amnesia, Outlast…).
These 3 are on my list too.
STALKER is on gamepass so ill be playing it day1, maybe right after im done with black ops single player also from game pass on PC.
I played reFantasio demo and considred buying it, its just 55$ for me on humble bundle because im old time member for their monthly subscription and get 20% discount on top of discounts [was too good they canceled it and new users get 10% refund on games or something like that], but yesterday refantasio was cracked so why not try it.
I have Russian epic shop for lower prices, but after the war many shops got removed, and i tried ukranian shop but they want ukranian credit card, but remnant was among the games that their publishers stayed in russia, so i got a premium copy with all the dlc for collection, maybe ill play it one day.
I also got Dragon Age pre-order for 36$, i found a "bug" to change American shop to Ukrainian during final step of the checkout and get ukranian price but keep the game in your American account.
There is also FF16 i want to try on PC.
Have you heard about that awesome upcoming turn based game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
If not go watch the trailer, its insanely good on graphics and especially music and surprisingly for a western game has good looking women instead of typical UGLY purple haired, side-cut hippopotamus that want to talk to gamers about Intersectional feminism and Men also look like Men and not LGBTROFL abominations.
So it looks great already.
Clair Obscur is definitely on my list and might make it a day one, hopefully itll be on gamepass. When the devs recently said it was going to be about 30ish hours it immediately reminded me of The Thaumaturge that I beat a few months ago. I want to try to finish a few Metaphor and Veilguard before Stalker 2 so we’ll see how that turns out. Getting into Metaphor has been like getting through a good book I cant put down.
out of curiosity, which youtuber you trust to provide a "based review"?
Usually i look at several actually – The ones who don’t have their review up until about a week after the launch, that way the usual suspects of biased “got the game for free pre-release” tubers can be avoided.
i don't trust any
if asmongold reject it or won't talk about it , you know its trash
"Worth a Buy" definitely. Mack is crazy and curses like a mad man and doesn't give a sh*t, no sugarcoating AAAs BS, though he does mostly indies. Other than that, just search a couple days in days for the game's name and review or analysis, and maaany critical titles will surface.
Yep, seems like the POS trash are going the right direction. But the Woke Abomination, they can shove up their a*s!
The only good decisions have nothing to do with the game itself.
Small font, bottom left corner: averange performance estimates include use of optional upscaling.
320×200 like back in the C64 days… upscaled to 4k… and then they want to think we PC players fall for that 4k logo
don't be dramatic
there musty be a reason why unreal games are all blurry
Damn they are doing a lot of things right leading up to this release. The specs look relatively acceptable as well. Very excited for another adventure in Thedas. Still gonna wait a lil bit more for some reviews but I expect to be very pleased with the title with most of what I've seen so far.
who'd wannna play this LGBT+ turd of a thing?
Not me
same, not even for free. pure woke garbage tr*nny crap
"the modern audience"
that barely exist. Without that awful Denuvo, even more people will pirate it rather than getting it on steam. They're on life support but after this they'll be absolved into EA.
I haven't been following it, what evidence has shown it to be dei?
open your eyes?
Lead Designer Corinne Busche
another terrorist
I don't need this trauma in my feed smh
but that's sufficient evidence
I pre-ordered for 35$, so i dont care, ill give them a chance
nope no chances ( i know this comment is late) its absolute garbage . the game is already on pirate sites and the comments say its not worth downloading or wasting time.
I just requested a refund, hell it adds up, more people refund it looks bad, ill get the free copy and check it out
delusional people
The Sims 4: Dragon Age DLC.
why the downvote? The devs said they came from steam.
They are making it easier to pirate and still no one will play this game 😂
that's exactly why it doesn't have denuvo. Even DEI know it's useless.
that's exactly why it doesn't have denuvo. Even DEI know it's useless.
I wouldn't write that off! And they better have it run as good and in as many PCs as possible to not choke their sales even further. Even if it will sell decently, it won't be up to execs expectations for the big name franchise, so it will be a flop.
DEI-nuvo is the best anti-buy and anti-piracy protection.
Pre orders are probably record low for EA
Pirates rejoice.
> Having the PC specs to run this game.
> Resorting to piracy for the actual games.
This doesn't make that much sense to me frankly. Unless people are way overspending on hardware.
Does not understand human nature. Must be AI.
Fhe games are trash these days made by talentless hacks. Simple.
You have brains to reason, yet, you use no reason at all.
Doesn't make much sense to me as well.
When piracy gives you a better experience than the legit one (better framerate due to no DRM, optional updates instead of being enforced by the store, modding without risks of bans, etc) is not even a question.
aye aye captain
every ea game has denuvo
EA removed denuvo from mass effect andromeda because it flopped misserably. They also removed if from jedi survivor because i guess the pc version was a mess, meanwhile the previous game still has denuvo. The last 3 need for speed games have denuvo, 2015 does not have it because its always online. So we have to conclude they expect this game to fail misserably.

they're going to blame pirates when this is flop
…now it makes sense
Hopefully they close Bioware.
i wish pirates could have a graph where they show how many have downloaded a file , and showing the game graph …with almost no downloads xD
they can't because not even them want to download the game
please add denuvo to this cancer, it may save some potential buyers from wasting their money
there it is confirmation they know they have a turd in their hands otherwise it would not happen.
Bioware ceased to be more than 10 years ago. EA long ago killed them like so many other great developers but left the name alive to try to squeeze a few more millions from name recognition. At this late date it's time for EA to finish the job and bury the Bioware name as well. There's no respect left for the name anymore even among the naive.
Well, it doesnt need Denuvo, the game itself is already a huge repellant for players.
The more I see their chart the more it looks like it was created by someone non technical inside the company, so I will not give and stock to what is says.
In no universe you need a top of line 16 core CPU for 30fps. 2fps per core smh
An RTX 2070 just to run the game in 1080p.
I'm so unbelievably tired of this ****.
I have stopped buying AAA games, playing indie games is more enjoyable and doesn't require a $2000 PC.
Lazy or checkbox-hire dev's and the insane gpu prices (to offset that dev/engine slack) are starting to choke PC gaming
I think bro is dragging it. He's upset that 5 year old hard ware still plays the games at the most average settings and widely adopted resolutions?
A 2070 is perfectly reasonable for 1080p 60 in 2024 lol, tf do you expect from it?
yes but the graphics arent.
An RTX 2070 was still a €600 card in 2020 before the 3000 series came out.
That's not even 4 years ago. And it can barely do 1080p in these AAA titles.
A €600 card, obsolete after 4 years. People with those cards are now stuck with expensive e-waste, GPU using a ton of power to run AAA games in 1080p or 720p.
And that just gets you the GPU to run games. They require an i9 9900k for 1080p gaming.
A 2070 and i9 9900k was a $1500-$2000 system not too long ago, costing several times the price of a $500 Playstation that lasts a decade.
Dedicated GPU make no sense. PC gamers are asked to pay for 2 PC, with GPU having their own memory, board, mosfet, capacitors, etc. All run by an Nvidia monopoly. Only integrated GPU on notebooks and those Chinese NUC are still price-competitive with consoles.
I'm signing off from AAA games, they are way too demanding and PC hardware has become way too expensive, especially GPU. Sticking to indie and AA games cuts the price of your PC easily by half and the hardware doesn't become obsolete.
The push for graphics is just bs at this point. Who gives a **** about stuff like raytracing. Nintendo has been outselling everyone for a decade with cell-shaded games that run on potatoes.
you forget one huge detail. 2020 GPU market was madness due to crypto. 2070 when released was a 1440p gpu, so if after all these years it can still do 1080p, I think it is OK
People that payed 900$(due to scalping) for a GPU in 2020 expected little more than what a PS5 offered for half the price of only a GPU.(back then when PS5 launched RTX already was a 3000 series)
When PS6 will be out,Nvidia will be at RTX7000 series.
So is not reasonable if we talk 1080p 60fps.
Imagine Today you'll build a Pc with a strong CPU,lots of Ram and a top GPU,just to realize that you payed 3000$ for it and when PS6 will be out, your 3000$ build is on par with a PS6 in performance, but that PS6 cost 3 times less.
It's console specs since it's a multi plat game. It does not require a $2000 pc tp play.
I'm not disagreeing. The game does require "console specs".
But console players are "only" paying €/$ 500 for a console, PC "AAA" gamers are paying several times that for a PC.
PS5 launched 4 years ago, and even now, you still can't make a PC even remotely close spec-for-spec for €500. (even when comparisons cheat by using second-hand PC parts, leaving out peripherals, OS, etc, they still can't come anywhere close)
A comparable GPU to the PS5 would be maybe an RTX 4060 Ti, which is still a €/$ 400 card, which leaves you with €/$ 100 to build the rest of your PC, good luck.
That used to be different, you could buy a price-competitive PC in the past. Now GPU have become so expensive, they take up half the price of a PC.
"but you can do more things on a PC". Yes, but you don't need a €1500 gaming PC for that, you can buy a €300 NUC box for that, only 4k video editors need these insanely spec'd PC nowadays.

Sir it's a 5 Year Old Mid Range Card paired with a 5 Year Old Mid Range Chip for the specs. Its basically Console specs but we'll have additional access to adjust settings on PC. I don't know what more people would want in terms of optimization or scalability when the floor goes back to a 290X and a GTX 970/1650.
I will pirate it and play it for the story and to have an educated opinion during the coming controversy
Bioware is trying to turn the damn pirates GAY!!
"THEY'RE TURNING THE PIRATES G4Y!!!!"
lol cheers for the good laugh!
Gotta love it …. You guys b*tch and moan when they include Denuvo and then b*tch and moan when it doesn't include Denuvo
Bi-polar much?
b*tches gona b*tch…. they don't need a reason
YES CHAD JPG
Or maybe you are arguing with a strawman in your brain. We care about games with Denuvo when those games catch our interest, which is not the case here.
Nobody is genuinely asking for Denuvo. Only trolls, like clown award farmers on Steam forums and PlayStation fanboys.
Denuvo or not in crappy games makes no difference
Wasn't you so stvpid to understand the abstract, you'd know it's not just about DRM.
What are we Missing? Evil Propaganda game makes Pro-Consumer decision….Why? Game has showed Hate toward its historic Lore and fans, but then Does Pro-fans actions( No Dlc or Drm)….Why? I'm almost convinced to buy at a 75% discount(a year from now).
Despite my lack of interest, at least someone at EA or BioWare has a soul.
The juice didn't want to pay more for Denuvo for this propaganda.
It's not about anything but money, as it is the rule on the juice community.
And as a bonus they can add pirates to the usual targets AKA "racists, misogynists and bigots" if the piece of propaganda (i won't call this a game) sells poorly.
How are they gonna shove their fa**try on everyone, including the pirates if it has drm? Now it's all about pushing woke ideology without any barriers. They are getting desperate.
Denuvo is nothing compared to the cancer included in this propaganda software.
EA has to pay me to play this crap
Hehe maby denuvo refused to merge with the tainted sourcecode? Its virus scanners blaring! Woke content detected!
Even if it's free and DRM less, it is still 100GB waste of bandwidth.
