DOOM demo now supports Vulkan

id Software has just added Vulkan support to DOOM’s demo. This basically means that everyone can now test id Software’s latest shooter and see the benefits of the Vulkan API.

As id Software claimed:

“When launching DOOM from Steam, you’ll be prompted with a new menu to choose either OpenGL or Vulkan. To play with Vulkan, select the second menu option. You can also switch between OpenGL and Vulkan in game via the Advanced Settings options menu. The game will restart whenever you switch between OpenGL and Vulkan. “

id Software suggests using NVIDIA’s 368.69 driver and AMD’s 16.7.2 driver.

You can download DOOM’s demo from here.

Have fun everyone!

    1. Changing hardware will tickle Denuvo on the funny bits, then he will call the cops on you.

“Games protected by Denuvo require an online re-activation for every hardware upgrade. Denuvo limits activations at 4 hardware upgrades per 24 hours.”

      BAD TOUCH! BAD TOUCH!

      1. Technically BIOS changes usually don’t count as hardware upgrades, since the HWID remains the same. Though this is just a generalization.

        1. I can confirm this i’ve played so freaking much with my bios (R5E) if denuvo would’ve tripped on a bios change, i would’ve known.

          1. If you turn off Hyper Threading of an i7 CPU on BIOS, Denuvo will treat it as a hardware change, and will give you the 24h ban if you do it many times. It happened to me when I was testing Rise of the Tomb Raider DX12 patch searching for performance changes. Just to give you an example about how bad denuvo is regarding things like that.

          2. I have the Steam version of RoTR and I toggled HT a few times to compare, it didn’t trigger denuvo.

          3. Well, it triggered for me. I even asked for help on steam forums at that time. After debating about it, we didn’t conclude anything because that’s the thing with denuvo: nobody know a thing about it and it’s a very shady protection. All I know is that I was playing only with HT, and BAM! 24H ban.

          4. google for “cole roddy denuvo rise of the tomb raider solved”. I can’t post links here.

          5. Well, could you take some of your precious minutes of time to help us uninformed citizens and describe how denuvo actually works? Instead of just saying “bleh. you’re wrong. bsheeat, bro” ‘cos it doesn’t help so much, FYI. Oh my, what am I doing? Oh yeah, trying to argue on the internet.

          6. Dude i was referring to the fact that if you said earlier was true then it is some uber bsheet. It wasn’t negative towards you, i was agreeing but it was n’t clear.

          7. I’m really sorry then. I got you the wrong way. And I’m having a tough day. But yes, you was not clear enough. Again, I’m sorry. 🙂

          8. All good man :). I wasn’t clear so that’s why i didn’t make a scene out of it. I find the denuvo practices quite annoying.

  1. I can’t get over the fact of how stupidly good this game performs.
Even on my sh!tty PC is unbelievable how good it looks and runs (no Vulkan for me though :/ ).
If only Bethesda did regional prices around here…

          1. Various factors, mostly taxes.
Console games are taxed because the government files them under “bad luck games” (i.e. gambling) where as on PC it’s considered as software so it’s not heavy taxed (and thanks to digital distribution, it remains in the hands of the publishers). There is the minimum wage aswell, when one game alone can cost 25% of your month pay, is either piracy or patience. Take a guess who wins.
Corrupt government lead us to the crisis we are living now, so buying games and hardware that was already a luxury before, now it’s even worse.
So, it is manageable, there’s countries that are worse I’m sure. The market potential here is what makes it a sad situation. It’s like “we are able to do it, but not quite”.

          2. Lol at corrupt government, for someone who doesnt know anything about the Brazil political situation, your comment will sound like you live in North Korea.Do you really believe that Dilma did something of what she is being accused, when the first thing that the de-facto goverment in the hands of Temer was to cut the social programs that was created in the last ten years?
Its obvious they want to make a soft cup d etat to re-establish the same corrupt right wing political culture latin america has been living in the last 100 years, in collaboration of the US government, if things was bad before, its gonna be worse from now on.
At least with Dilma you could bought some game
occassionally but with this right wing only-white people cabinet goverment, you
will be more worry about putting food in your table or get the money
            for basics needs.
In argentina was a problem to get hardware and games for PC in the days of CFK but now its a problem to get the money to pay the electricity bill or to get food.
People tought that a capitalist candidate will be worry about their PC gaming needs and Game and PC parts prices will drop once Macri would get in the presidency, but LOL, now they have to see how to pay their internet or electricity bill, to keep at least, pirating games…
Its sad that Bernie Sanders lost to that damn corrupt women, stupid Shillary, he is the only candidate that has accept tha US goverment has been behind many coup d etat in latin america and know that has to stop because instead of solving something it makes everything worse.
As a another PC gamer living in latin America, I just can say, if a government can guarantee we can have free education, cheap housing and keep basic living expenses low, thats good enough for at least, buying games on Steam and upgrade the computer occasionally.
But with this right-wing politicians who needs coup d etat to be in the goverment because they cant win elections, we cant expect anything good and for PC gaming they are bad news.

          3. I see, so it’s a hail-fire altogether. Russia would be the opposite, but i’m not sure if there are other countries who are much worse than this. It’s f*cked up that’s for sure.

    1. Look at the bright side: it’s only Bethesda who doesn’t do regional prices for you. Where I live (Ecuador, for those who want to know), NOBODY uses regional prices. Hell, a Premium Edition of a new game in Origin is cheaper than a bare-bones new game in Steam.

      1. Until I know Ecuador hasnt local currency for Steam. Still there are a lot of countries where the game in local currency is damn cheaper than in US dollars.

        1. Yeah, I think that’s the issue. We use US dollars as currency (don’t ask, long and sad story) so they probably say “hey, they use dollars, charge them as in the US”. But GoG and Origin actually use regional prices so that’s why I don’t understand why that happens.

  2. Yeah it is so NEVER give in and pay for this crap!
The only way I see it to play Denuvo games is to buy it dirt cheap on “Antidenuvo!

You can get the game for only a dollar mate 😉

So give em the finger and only buy from Antidenuvo!
Btw, the guys that sells you their account will be happy to do an offline activation when/if you do any hardware changes!

  3. Downloading the demo…I’ll get the game later. Still tons of games to play during the summer…jeez!

  4. I get a boost of a minimum 15 fps by using vulcan with the R9 390. That’s pretty amazing considering it’s just a software change.

  5. On mY Fury Fiji in Vulcan i have ~140-150FPS Average
    OMG -> DX12/Vulcan is a Game changer 😀
Im Glad they make it right ! DOOM FTW
