ahm…those CPU requirements. ahm…
Are you whining about progress? Hmmm
Doom is not progress. It does nothing Doom 3 didn’t do in terms of physics, AI or general gameplay. No reason for it to be CPU-bottlenecked. Not even the graphics are noteworthy, Crysis 3 did all that and it had large open levels as opposed to closed arenas.
True. Too bad Crysis 3 was kinda boring, at least at normal difficulty, despite it’s ahead of its time graphics. At veteran or super soldier, that game becomes really frustrating rather than fun.
I don’t care super fancy graphics or hyper realistic physics, I just want the game to be fun. After all, I think graphics capabilities have reached a point were any game can look at least serviceable. I want progress in gameplay, not graphics.
That said, if Doom 4 flops, there’s always the upcoming Shadow Warrior 2, which I can guarantee will be just as awesome as the first Shadow Warrior. Also, I hope Croteam will release Serious Sam 4, hopefully soon.
No they whine that they made a game that looks half decent but in no way next gen and argue “wel its 60 fps game atleast it wont run like sht” and then they release requiremnts from a space pc and they are like “FOR CRYING OUT LOUD OPTIMIZE THE DAMN THING”
CPU requirements are almost always inflated.
thats what happens when intel is market leader in cpus.
Or you spend 20 years doing anti-competitive practices basically preventing competition from going into the OEM space, IE Dell.
so…am I the only who realized that minimun and recommended CPU are the same? with AMD is LITERALLY the same?
That’s because of the wide spread use of Intel compilers which force AMD to use slower instruction sets.
Please elaborate? IMHO The CPU requirements are fine.
remember how Crysis 1 pushed the PC scene? Its time for another game changer, we need a game that DEMANDS 6-Core 4Ghz CPU and GTX970 as Minimum (of course it has to deliver so people will have a reason to upgrade)
of course: minimun and recommended are the same. with AMD literally the same.
Damn!

Nobody cares about NDA’s anymore, I guarantee there will be live streams and Youtube videos.
Oh god. That thing of NDA is ridiculous.
Looks like an AMD optimized title, a 280 being compared with a 780 or that’s a mistake ? Anyway I am ready for it 😉
280 and R280X are very powerfull GPU’s 😀 I know cuz i have R280X 1050/1550 now, still waiting for Fury-X new stock 😉
Yes I know R9 series is amazing, I also had an R9 290 from Sapphire and it was great, what I meant is that usually devs list a stronger AMD card and weaker Nvidia card suggesting that the game is not very friendly on AMD hardware but this time it’s the opposite.
Fury-X will be a great buy no doubt, congrats in advance 🙂
Only 6GB of disk space? For today’s standards it’s a really small game.
That’s got to be a typo.
Closed alpha. Read.
Yeah, I went to the site to confirm that.
Still. New tech, “next gen”, yadda yadda.
Woops, I skipped all but requirements when reading because I thought it would be a worthless filler.
Those are the requirements for the alpha only. That will change when the game releases
I bet this is 60fps minimal req.
Probably not. Where do you think the myth that 30 fps are okay first came from?
Strange, must be 60gb, typo? Look at other I’d tech5 games.
Yea but it’s weird, Star Citizen that I guess will be way bigger than DOOM is gonna be 100GB, and this shooter in closed spaces would weigh as much as 60GB?
It’s an alpha with like one map.
Sorry, I overlooked that because I thought the text over requirements would be a filler.
Why would it be 60GB? It’s just a alpha with one map and very few guns
And no singleplayer too!
6GB RAM master race. I give it a month before someone unlocks it.
more like a few days.
Shut up you inferior race!
LOL You still have 6GB? 32Gb DDR4 over here 🙂
How long does it take to boot with all that ram to check?
Actually it takes at most 3-4 seconds from the moment I press the power button to the part where i need to enter my bitlocker password
so you dont even get to see the windows logo?
It the other way around:
1. Bios Phase
2. Bitlocker unlock
3. Windows Boot
So the bios phase the one that checks the RAM and all that takes about 3-4 seconds, I have x99 based mobo with Fast boot and its disabled, set to Full Boot meaning it does not skip anything, checks USB, SATA and RAM.
Even for video editing that’s overkill. 32 GB will be a relevant number when there’s DDR7 or something. I haven’t run into any issues with 6GB.
I rather have more then not, (I dont use swap file, have 4Gb RAM drive for temp and internet cache files) for me it was like this:
DDR: 4GB
DDR2: 8GB
DDR3: 16Gb
DDR4 32GB
During Windows XP days I used XP 64beta and from that point I always been using 64bit OS
If you’re gonna use RAM as super fast hard drive space then more is
better, of course. I was speaking from the standpoint of the average
user who will never bother with things like that. And for them, more RAM can actually be worse. In DDR1 and 2 days there were actually games that would run slower if you had more RAM installed than necessary. I distinctly remember some games magazine (remember those? lol) testing if it’s worth putting 4 vs. 2 GB in your PC and coming to the conclusion that no, on XP you won’t see any game performing better and some will actually run worse.
You might be talking about 32Bit OS, and even then it might be just some old poorly optimized games.
never happened to me.
from average regular user, 16Gb should be the norm in 2015, its very cheap.
RAM prices have not decreased significantly since 5 years ago. 16 GB are a waste of money for most users in 2015. You will not notice a difference unless you record, stream or edit videos or similar intense memory-hog activities. No game needs more than 8 GB. Inb4 Arkham Knight, that game is a joke. COD requiring 6 GB minimum was already a bad joke (consoles only have 4-5 available for games) but rocksteady knocked it out of the park. You will be able to run every new game for years with 8 GB. Personally, I’ve had 6 GB for 4 years now and it’s never a bottleneck. I was thinking about upgrading to 12 but the prices have been inflated for a long time. Right now I’d pay 80+ euros for a decent 12 gb kit, as opposed to 100 a year or two ago. Meanwhile, a couple years ago RAM was actually cheaper than it is now. SSDs are the purchase on “regular” users’ mind these days. And SSD prices are actually steadily decreasing. 80 euros will get you 250 GB that will make your explorer and game loading times much, much faster. Why buy RAM that won’t change a thing?
RAM prices are CHEAP as it is, if you buy DDR3 its almost free, you can find 16Gb kit for 150USD.
I paid much more for 32Gb of DDR4.
16Gb is the minimum no matter what you think, you can disable swap file and you can open almost as many tabs as you want , also if you mod your games like fallout or mass effect with HD textures youll need that ram.
I been using SSDs for long time now, my first was OCZ 60Gb SATA2 models, i dont remember the model, then it was Samsung 830 60Gb, right now i have 120GB Samsung 840Evo for system, another 120Gb to backup the first one and 750Gb for steam.
I also have Samsung 850Evo 250Gb brand new, will be swapping the 750GB SSD to my PS4 and the 250Gb will be enough for PC games, I usually play one two games max.
most gamers should have 8gigs of ram by now. it shouldnt be that big of a deal these days. if you dont have it you shoulded have up graded when watch dogs came out. it set the standard for 8gigs 64bit. and its looking like soon 4gigs of vram mite be required soon.
if i’m not mistaken, they are aiming for 60fps even on consoles, both min & recommended are 8gb.
RECOMEND IS FOR ULTRA 1080P 60 FPS?
Seems like i dont need to upgrade for DOOM max settigs 60 fps!!! Are these requimewns also for the single player ultra seettings 1080p 60 FPS??
I don’t understand why they do this, how the hell does it work on consoles when the absolute minimum is 8gb.
Optimization.
ugly ..GTX 780 and I7 for DOOM?
DAFUQ ?!
btw ” High speed internet connection “- no problem here i have 1 GB/S
GigaByte or Gigabit?
Hostile.
thats why i go amd.the amd Recommended cpu is much cheaper then intel Recommended cpu.mite be a few fps difference the cards are faster then nvidia cards so it makes up for it.nvidia justs puts out drivers faster then amd.
I like the fact that they post core clocks instead of cpu models, this mean it will be an overclock friendly game :D?
Games is not “breathtaking” visually so seeing those conservative requirements are expected. For me that is.
I know they’ve moved to the Id Tech 6 engine, but Id Tech 5 games looked bad, ran poorly even on high end hardware and were capped at 60 fps. Who knows what changes they’ve made, but those look like pretty steep requirements considering how average the game looks.
Regardless, I couldn’t care one way or another. This game looks like a bastardization of DOOM, having been dumbed down to no end to accommodate controller limitations. God damn peasants.
It was gimped heavily by last gen consoles. With Rage you could edit ini files and it was much better.
thankfully i have an i7 2600k but if the CPU requirements keep going up like this my CPU will end up being the bottleneck at some point. and that’s funny as hell. seeing as its still very powerful.
it isnt optimized yet at least i dont think…lol
8GB minumum is abit too much, anyway kinda shows how PFTTTT the 8gb…sorry i meant 5.5 gb the consoles have are.
this isnt optimized yet. it will hopefully have the same req as fallout 4.
