Don’t expect Half-Life 3 or Valve’s SteamPal at E3 2021

All hell broke loose yesterday when PCGamer revealed that Valve would be commenting about Steam at E3 2021’s PC Gaming Show event. However, it appears that this message will not be the one you’ve been waiting for.

At first, PCGamer claimed that PC Gaming Show would have a “message from Valve regarding Steam“. Naturally, a lot speculated about this message. Disappointingly, though, PCGamer updated its article, stating that this message will be about Steam Next Fest.

In case you weren’t aware of, Steam Next Fest is an indie game jam of sorts. It is not directly an announcement about Steam or Valve. Thus, you should not expect a new game announcement from Valve, or the reveal of SteamPal (its rumored handheld device). And no, there won’t be a Half-Life 3 announcement.

The PC Gaming Show will air Sunday, June 13 at 2:30 PM PST / 5:30 PM EST.

    1. No and nobody wants it (I as a true fan since 98 sure don’t). Laidlaw is gone, why bother?

I would like to have that fracking EP3 from the Laidlaw script tho. Or the original version of HL2 without relying on the mods.

    2. Considering the sh**ty unconsequental writing in Half Life Alyx trying to change established lore ala Super Hero sh*t and how most of the staff who worked in Half Life 1 and 2 is completely gone, I honestly give no sh*t anymore don’t think I’ve cared since like 2015, I just want them to releases the Source 2 SDK and let their dedicated but undeserving community and actually talented devs do their job for them.

But they can’t seem to even care about doing that, just sitting on Esports and Steam money and half assedly pushing gimmicky projects.
Once Gabe dies Valve will eat itself, believe that.

  1. Don’t forget it was coomsomers that consented to Valve creativity dead spiral, so any libertarian illusions of the “market fixing itself” or “get woke, go broke” are just that, illusions and cope.

    1. coomsomers […] libertarian

If people choose to support refuse, then that his their right. Persuade them otherwise.

Your solution, totalitarianism, might be helpful in the right hands, but only for a little while (if at all). And even if you could find an emperor far more moral and wiser than you, how long would that last?

Would you want supreme authority in the hands of those whom you despise? Since you’re here rather than PC Gamer, Polygon, or the Huffington Post, it’s obvious that you don’t.

    2. They make exponentially more money running Steam than they ever did with the Half Life franchise. Why would they spend money and effort on something that is demonstrably less profitable? How is that not market forces at work? What, should the government intervene and force Valve to make a video game or something?

I would love to see half life 3, but your post is retarded.

      1. “I would love to see half life 3, but your post is retarded.”

You make the exact point as me and yet call my post r-tarded, it’s like looking at a mirror and calling the person in front of you dumb.

“How is that not market forces at work?”

What makes you think i’m a free market libertarian guy? This and other examples just exposes the flaws of libertarian “tought”.

No one denies valve makes money genius, it’s just that i coudn’t care less about Steam, and i would be in favor of government intervention to force Valve to make a game, because at this point, why not?

          1. You really have no clue about this don’t you? Here’s an spoiler: The government interfere with art all the time.

        1. Listen, I’m not saying you’re the dumbest person who posts on this website, but you’ve certainly thrown your hat in the ring and are making a fight for contendership.

I can’t figure out how someone as stupid as you can manage to actually turn on their computer or phone, connect to the internet, and type a sentence. It is truly a miracle of modern science. Your brain should be examined in a lab.

          1. I’m really flattered but please stick to the subject, this isn’t a news story about me.

    1. 16 years since HL2 came out and 13 years since EP 2.

I remember the first time I played HL2 I was very impressed. That was back in Valve’s glory days though. Truly one of the best games ever made.

    1. What happened to your profile, you used to have 50k comments or so? And i’m with you on that, but bad public reception and millions of steamtards stuck on valve plantation makes sure they will just treat HL franchise as a very low priority hobby.

      1. i have 3 durka durka accounts because i dont remember the passwords. I formatted my pc and this is the account i found in one of my emails, was too bored to make a new one, so i am using this one.

          1. what work? I just shtpost mate. I had another account before these 3 called dakan45 and it just didnt post anymore, dont know why, no one could see my comments i was banned from alot of n4g based sites but still, it didnt work so i made a new one. Lol i had like, hold on let me count…5 youtube accounts, 2 banned, another one deleted by me as an accident and i dont know what happened to the other one. Who cares.

          2. i am just shtposting dude. Its not like you can do good work, youtube will ban you. Thank god for b*tchute, odysee and gab tv.

      2. Half Life -> Low Priority -> Just released a brand new game in the franchise that gave them a way foward with the story that actually makes sense and wouldn’t suck -> Low Priority though.

        You people are absolutely delusional.

        1. Lmao they release an VR exclusive prequel, that’s how much priority they think half life is worth: A franchise has been used as a gimmick to sell some of their VR devices. Is that anything more than low priority?

          1. Uhh yeah, the priority they’ve always placed around the series. You mean the same thing they’ve done with the Half Life series since the first one?

Used some perceived by them revolutionary game play gimmick to make an push out a game? Kind of like the f*cking physics system of Half Life 2 right? Or wait, the narrative structure of Half Life 1! I’m starting to see a pattern here!

Valve seems to tend to create games with mediums they feel will move the gaming experience forward and will not make a Half Life game unless they offered something they feel will do that.

If you want COD trash, go and buy it. Sorry, Valve passed you by technologically. We’re all going to enjoy our upcoming exclusive VR games, that show they still very much so do care about making video games.

Just not the ones you want, and that’s fine. Go b*tch about the next Battlefield, or what ever SJW has offended your baby b*tch sensibilities this week.

          2. Aren’t you hipster Valve fans just the worst? Would be nice if Steam make their games exclusive for Nasa computers or so, i’m sure you would be thrilled to keep up with their bs.

    2. Yet, they just released one of the best games I’ve ever played in my entire life with the past two years. So what is it. They make games, or they don’t make games? They love games, or they don’t love games?

Two full length VR titles in development, with one out of the gate that is easily a genre defying game, but I guess they just hate f*cking games because they won’t make Half Life 3.

Oh wait, they don’t hate games, you just dislike the fact you’re probably some poor third world sh*tstain, and can’t afford a computer capable of VR or the hardware of VR.

Valves been wonderful to us if you’re not that, but chances are you are that pathetic.

I bet you’re some f*cking douche who thinks Epistile 3 is actually a good quality way to end the story of Half Life. Instead of the borderline fan fiction tier garbage it is.

You got cucked by a Jew once; that’s why you’re so mad, isn’t it?

    1. pphhh Valve treats CSGO almost as bad as the HL franchise, not quite but close. Gaben only cares about DOTA2.

  2. Half-Life 3… It’s not going to be the same, the dna of the franchise is altered by the no one ask for new game… I don’t give a kcuf anymore, it’s something belong to the past for ME, Half-Life (1998) is still the best video game ever.

    1. I don’t think Half Life 3 will come out. The only reason Half Life: Alyx came out was so that Valve could push their $750 Index VR set.I still replay Half Life 2 and the expansions every few years so HL isn’t completely dead to me but I’ve long ago given up any hope that Valve will release a Half Life 3.

      1. The ending of Alyx make it clear that HL3 is on the way, the question is not when but rather how the game is going to be?! it’s hard to see the future of this game without VR… Sure thing it’s not going to be a direct sequel to HL2:EP2, and this is why i’m not interested and just presume the game end with ep2.

        1. Whatever it is it won’t be any good, considering the ending.
I like the fact that a potential sequel won’t have Alyx attached to you holding your hand and killing the atmosphere with sh**ty unfunny quips, but this alternate dimension temporal bullshit is just an excuse to kill off any consequences or any good writing.

      2. It’s absolutely hilarious to me that you literally have a way forward with the series, that’s the only way Valve actually would develop a f)cking Half Life 3, which is through a gameplay revolution or technological revolution that THEY HAVE OBVIOUSLY F&CKING EXPLORED AND LOVED WITH HALF-LIFE ALYX.

        VR is their way forward.

Half Life 3 is for sure coming at some point, they wouldn’t have fixed that absolutely borderline impossible point to start a story from post-original ending for Episode 2.

The issue is, Half Life 3 will more than likely be a VR game and it’s going to piss so many people off(and I can’t wait for the absolute tears)/ You people will also be lining up to buy headsets, just like everybody did for Alyx when that came out.

        1. “You people will also be lining up to buy headsets, just like everybody did for Alyx when that came out.”

Strange, i don’t remember lining up to buy any VR headset, nor logging on Steam to buy Alyx… Honestly i coudn’t care less about HL at this point, the magic is already lost. I still get a laugh from r-tards like you that massively overhypes what amount to a simple fps series…IT MUST BE REVOLUTIONARY GUIZE, THAT’S WHY THEY WHERE TAKING 20 YEARS TO MAKE, NO THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM LOSING INTEREST OR ANYTHING…

          1. Mother f*cker you’re not the only human being or that important, Headsets were literally impossible to find around the time Alyx came out. Borderline impossible. Even sh**ty Window branded ones. The Index was completely and totally sold out.

Nobody cares what you like, you’re a god d^mn third world idiot from what I remember.

          2. Oh poor baby coudn’t find a VR set to buy a single game, haha, “that must mean “EVERYBODY BOUGHT ONE”.

  3. If HL3 ever comes It’ll be cucked beyond oblivion. The Steam Pal is most likely going to be another fail just like the Steam Machines and Artifact.

  4. Tried downloading some Free mmorpg this year and they still reset your download if the game release a single hotfix. Tried complaining on Steam reddit about this but i get moderated by a bot. These game companies would be better off putting their games on torrents instead of relying on this garbage store…
