Aspyr has announced that Deus Ex Remastered has been delayed with no new release date. It will not be coming out in February 2026 anymore. This delay comes as a result of the negative impact its debut trailer received from its fans.
Aspyr states that in order to meet fan expectations and deliver the best possible experience, they had to delay it. As I said, though, there isn’t any new ETA on when it will come out.
What’s crazy here is that Aspyr will refund all of the pre-orders. So, this tells me that the remaster will be completely scrapped. Or at least that’s the vibe I get from that statement. I can also say that this won’t come out in 2026. We’ll either see it in 2027, or Aspyr will just cancel it.
In my opinion, the Deus Ex Remastered was in an acceptable direction. Yes, it looked different than the original game, but it at least had somewhat unique “Doom 3“-like visuals. It was weird and different. So, I personally wouldn’t mind playing it, as long as the original was still available for purchase.
And I get it. Some Deus Ex fans would never accept it. Here is the thing, though. We already have a remaster of Deus Ex thanks to its visual mods. You can already experience “Deus Ex Remastered“. And that’s coming from a die-hard Deus Ex fan. I’ve played the original game numerous times. As such, I wouldn’t mind playing something that can look a bit different from it. Again, as long as the original game is still available for purchase.
This is exactly why I love all of the RTX Remix Mods. Yes, in some cases, you might get a somewhat different art style. But, after playing Doom or Doom 2 for over ten years, it was quite refreshing and amazing to re-experience them with full real-time Path Tracing.
Anyway, as I wrote in my previous article, Aspyr should simply remaster Deus Ex with RTX Remix. In my opinion, that’s the best way to remaster a game that is as old as the original Deus Ex. I mean, look at what the game can look like with this RTX Remix Mod. Now, imagine if a whole studio worked on something like that.
And believe me, a proper RTX Remix Mod for Deus Ex will need A LOT of work. This is why we still haven’t gotten Half-Life 2 RTX, and that game was announced in 2023.
For those who don’t remember what Deus Ex Remastered looked like, I’ve decided to include its debut trailer below. So, make sure to watch it if you haven’t already.
Stay tuned for more!
