NeoGAF’s member ‘Rosti‘ has uncovered some interesting new information for what seems to be the next entry in the Deus Ex series. Square Enix has trademarked Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a product that is described as a computer game software. Now this may very well be a spin off and not the next-gen game based on the Deus Ex series, so don’t get your hopes up for the time being.
Here is the complete information about this new Deus Ex trademark:

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

i hope not, sounds like a stupid pretentious name. will pirate day 1 if thats the actual name.
So your gonna pirate a game because you don`t like the way they named it? Does massive retardation run in your blood line?
u mad kiddo? deal with it.

Probably I’ll get a heashot for this but:
Am I the only one that thinks DeusEX needs a closure? The original is a classic, HR is great and do justice for the series, so why keep milking the godamn thing taking the risk of throwing a legacy into the oblivion?
1. Did you forget about Invisible War? That game was shit and yet HR happened.
2. HR wasn’t fantastic. It was an interesting game, definitely reminded me of Deus Ex in some aspects but let’s be real, in this day and age a FPS with stealth and RPG elements isn’t enough to call yourself Deus Ex. That’s what all FPS do now, except in a watered down fashion.
HR’s third person segments piss me off. It pisses me off that most “stealth” takes place in a camera perspective I don’t want in my fucking FIRST person shooter. I understand that the rolls from cover to cover would have felt unintuitive but Dishonored proves that you can have a lean button on consoles, and who said Adam had to roll around in the first place? Fuck that, a 300 lbs cyborg doing a roll on hard floor would be loud as hell, nothing stealthy about it. Just let me sneak normally, dammit.
And that’s just one aspect HR messed up hard. As far as I’m concerned let them keep trying. Maybe they’ll fuck up the next one and then the one after that will be good again. I don’t see the benefit in trying to preserve the name when the name was until recently tainted with one of the worst sequels of all time.
@dudebrozero:disqus & @disqus_9icKSlEHxB:disqus I agree with both of you, the series is a great “cradle” for a whole lot of ideas but there isn’t the need (apart from the inherent greed) to keep milking the name. IMO it will be awesome if we could have a “spiritual sucessor” you know? A game inspired more by the overall aestesics both in setting and gameplay. There’s only 4 games and we can see some sort of dangerous pattern (good game, bad game) and I keep thinking if they keep doing sequels or prequels or whatever, if it’s gonna sustain itself for a long time. I prefer a closure, an heroic ending or a unsolved mistery than a “line graph” over the years.
Human Revolution IS the spiritual successor, just with “Deus Ex” in the title. If you want “heroic” closure, just play Invisible War.
And I disagree with all those people who say that IW is a bad game. At the core it’s still Deus Ex.
For them it’s money. For me personally it’s one of the best Cyberpunk series ever made. Cyberpunk or steampunk games are pretty rare and still everyone wants fantasy, modern warfare or some other crap about survival and zombies.
HR has not just done justice for the series, it created his own style (cyber renaissance). The whole damn cyberpunk subgenre has been born with this game, and yet a lot of people miss that tiny, little detail when talking about HR, or even trying to insult it.
As long as they make a good games, I’m fine with that. Although I have some fears about Square Enix.
even with all the hate it gets i thought invisible war closed it out well.
I think the series was gone way too long to put it to pasture after only Human Revolution.
I think if they took the time and the care to treat it like they did Human Revolution, then it can go well. If they treat it more IW or The Fall, then yeah, they’re going to drag it through the mud.
And certainly Thief (4) seems to take all the wrong lessons from the Human Revolution success.
