Dambuster Studios job listing suggests Dead Island 2 is still in development

Dambuster Studios have recently published a job listing for the Dead Island franchise. Which means that Dead Island 2 is probably still in development.

According to the listing, the studio is looking for a developer to help them create the sun soaked backdrop to a full scale zombie apocalypse set across the iconic Californian city, for the next installment in the Dead Island franchise.

Dambuster Studios are not the developers of the original Dead Island. Their last game was Homefront: The Revolution, which wasn’t that great. The first Dead Island was developed by Techland, the guys behind Dying Light, and also its upcoming sequel.

Initially the game was going to be developed by Yager, the developers behind the superb Spec Ops: The Line. Unfortunately that didn’t work out well, and Deep Silver transitioned development to Sumo Digital. However, in 2019, Deep Silver announced that Dambuster Studios will be taking over the development.

  1. Jesus if this game has been in development for this long without break I cannot immagin they will make much money on it considering the cost of developing.

Also I would be very sceptical at this being any good when we haven’t heard anything at all for this long. That’s like never a good sign.

  2. Been reading DSO for years, since the early days now, with a few user articles in the early days and some banner help (current banner on site was by me and friend), so you can tell even despite a lot of negativity recently, have always liked this site. 🙂

For that reason it is actually cool to now see an article of a game I am working on at DSO, definitely an achieved goal.

Can’t say much about the game yet, and obviously can’t detail specifics as I have just got into game design after graduation so don’t want to get kicked out just yet.

All I can say is with everyone working super hard, people will like some of the stuff we are doing with this (hopefully) and it’s definitely not in any sort of block or hell anymore.

I suppose all I can say is, wait a bit 🙂

  3. Why such negativity? Why not think of them, like finally overcoming their issues and so giving the game the time it actually needed?
It is always nice to have an insight from a company, so just wait to see what happens
