Man, the DICE Summit 2014 Awards ceremony was full of surprising and awkward moments. Microphone issues, late appearances of hosters, semi bad jokes, Mike Capps doing some amazing gestures, that jacket from one of Diablo III’s team that was similar to the one used by Angry Joe, the Oculus Rift representative who was unable to read his lines, and… man. The whole show was laughable and shameful at the same time. And as always, the TwitchTV chat delivered some awesome jokes about those awkward moments. But anyway, below you can find the winners of that ceremony. Or we can sum up this show as ‘The Last Of Us’ show and call it a day.

LQ textures, bugs,linear small hallways, yet best visual ? how about next-gen games ? how about metro LL ? crysis 3 ? no ? lol
Metro LL and Crysis 3 are not considered “Next Gen” anymore. Also, on console ( and on PC for the most part) both of those games played like crap and were not optimized. TLOU played better than both of those games. I have a BEAST of a rig too and both games were unplayable at times. TLOU I played through without a hitch.
Both Metro LL and Crysis 3 were optimised well, John put them in his list of 2013. Metro LL runs great on my GTX660 and looks nothing short of stunning.
lowest fps i got on meto last light was 47fps on highest setting without SSAA only on one 660ti. and crysis 3 is not consider a next gen title ? it’s two years ahead of it’s time in terms of graphic and technology still no games even announced at the same level of tech. tLoU plays better ? gunplay in tlou is a mess, they used exactly the same mechanics as uncharted and both of them were awful. A.I is the worst and the gameplay is so linear that feels your watching a movies instead of playing a game.
Considering the console versiosn of those games run under the lowest setitngs, i think they are pretty next gen even at the lowest settings it looks better than the last of us.The gunplay on tlou is crap, innacurate clunky controls with bullet spongy enemies and laughable ai.

The Order 1886 for PS4, they didn’t even showed a second gameplay footage yet every day there is two to 3 news for it man they hyped this $hit and i guess with this much hype it is 2014’s goty. they focused on story too, or next halo, a CGI trailer and that’s it, they focused on story this time too, news after news about that and how awsome the story will be. game industry is suffering from these type of games if we can even call them games. gameplay! the most important element of a game is forgetting fast these days, only shiny graphic and story and tons of awards. for now on i’m only focusing on some indie titles. kids these days are stupid,too much technology and ease of use made them stupid and lazy so games will be stupid & lazy too
Yes they hype a trailer that could very well be in engine but it wont be the actual result. Eg deep down got deep downgraded and the order is propably gonna run on 1920×800 with 4x msaa.
We dont know anything about this game, yet consoletards are excited and its their most anticipated games, they havent showed anything but all the morons have already decided to buy it because its a ps4 exlusive with amazing graphics.
Needless to point out the final result wont look as good and the game can suck, but hey let the hype commence.

agreed, the ai was horrible and the graphics are so blurry they look like they came out of rage.
At least Rage had a technical excuse because it used a 32k texture, it has a lot of variation, detail and it ran at 60-fps. Too repetitive, get me this, fetch me that let it down, rather like Skyrim.
I haven’t played The Last Of Us as I only own a PC, but if I had the opportunity I’d check it out.
I have played TLOU and have to say it’s f*cking good and impressive for the piss poor old PS3 but to praise it like every damn site and magazine seems to do is just crazy.
It looks good and plays good but comparing this to any good Pc game are crazy, heck even Crysis 1 just sh*ts all over this!
TLOU Is just pure amazing. Played it through twice. I wish great games like this would come to PC, but alas, It is the reason I have a PS3 next to my PC and soon to have a PS4. Exclusives.

I wish these games would come out on PC 5+ years later when the “exclusive” aspect of it no longer matter. I own a variety of consoles, anything from a Dreamcast to a Gamecube. I would love to play my fav. games for those consoles again, but the process of digging them out and hooking everything up is just a pain. It’ll be a lot easier to have them all sitting in a hard drive somewhere.
TOTALLY AGREE!!! I have emulators, but it can be glitchy and poorly optimized. I would love to play the Gamecube RE series on PC again. That and a PC HD remastering of Onimusha.
Lets see, i dont care about the setting, the graphics are awful like running a game in low settings, the ai is a disaster, the animations and combat controls are clunky, the game is borring for the first 3-4 hours, it is very repetive.
Meh, id rather play a polished game with fun gameplay without a great story.
And your point is? Everyone have and is entitle to an opinion..but lets not pretend this is news. Last of Us is a well received game with lots of positive rating coming from gamer and critics alike. Personally, it wouldn’t have been my first choice, but i’m not surprised at all that it won in so many categories. For everyone who dislike the game there are dozens praising it, so i won’t bother. My conjecture is due to being on this site long enough to realize people here aren’t exactly level headed when it come to anything console related.
my point is that this game is treated like the citizen kane of gaming just like bioshock infinite. All that for the story, apparently critics want to prove their medium can make you feel things like hollywood movies, so just like gone home, the ratings go there when they dont deserve such high praise.
I get the story, but awards on animations and techinical achievements or art style are utterly pathetic.
But i forgot, 10/10 game, best thing ever.
I admit 2013 was a crappy year for gaming, but last of us and bioshock infinite will cause more games to focus on story and get high ratings for that while their gameplay will be lackster just wait and see.

But giving it awards for animations when gta v and tomb raider is around kills all belief i have in those awards. Its like when gamettrailers didnt give the award of best graphics to crysis, it is obvious those awards are not objective and they give em to the popular games rather those who worth it. Seeing games like papers pleas getting recognized made me think that we are done with those fake awards, guess i was wrong.

Not every game has to be innovative or fresh to be worthwhile. If they were such horrible games nobody would be willing to purchase them. The market show that people do like those game and willing to paid money for them. How else do you objectively judge the worth of a product? I say let the market decide, who the heck am i to tell people they can’t enjoy a game because it isn’t my cup of tea.

You can’t blame them for playing it safe. Why risk something new? when the same old will still get you sales? At the end of the day it’s still a business. It’s just a matter of how long until the sales become so low that they’re force to innovate. I don’t think this is a new phenomena at all. It’s just more apparent these day because the video game industry is so large now that it spew out games much more frequently. I can still remember the 90’s being plague with JRPG and final fantasy clones.

and major gaming sites are not indipendent, they’re all bound to the industry, and money (ads-early review copies or exclusive features such as hand-on or even trailer,gifts,exclusive interviews or announcements) talking not honesty or truth. if you think that i’m hallucinating go and check some of they’re works suck as Kane & Lynch review in GS or Shenmue in GS or even some games that they reviewed them without finishing them or able to play them at all.

I still need to play this game since my PS3 is mostly for exclusives. (though I have like 60 games for it, but nothing compared to my PC list)
Still thinking if get the PS4 in the future…for exclusives alone this time. (Gran Turismo, Killzone, God of War, InFamous and some more that are really good)
I will be upgrading my PC and play even more in it. Better prices for the games, better looking, sales and bundles to get even more games for almost nothing, mods!, free to play is getting better and better (Planetside 2, Path of Exile, Dota 2, War Thunder, Hawken, Warframe, Survarium which I´m playing the closed beta and it looks fantastic…the ones that will come,etc).
PC was never more alive than now for sure. 😉
Amen to that mate, Pc have never been bigger and better than it is and are growing by the day but I think the same as you. For Sonys exclusives it feels damn nice to have a playstation in the home even it cant and would never compare to my Pc 🙂

That´s why I still don´t have the PS4…and also I need money first, upgrade my PC and then maybe get the PS4 if those games are good. (all in that particular order)
the only two console exclisive games i liked these past 8-9 years was The Darkness (first one) and Red Dead Redemption. didn’t like any Sony or MS exclusive at all, forza for xbox yeah but now i have Assetto Corsa and PCars
I have AC and pCARS (since day one, October 2011), and I love Gran Turismo series despite its flaws. Play that game since 1998 and as it happens with some series you can´t get enough of it and is a must have for me.
Some games “dies” with the years but some get better, like you are also tied to them. (what it is called a “fan” of it, yet not blind as some who buy those games despite if they get horrible)
I liked the uncharted and resistance series but both of them gone to crap with each sequel.
So yeah, buy a console for inferior graphcis and controls for 2-3 games in 5-8 years.
