  1. This game looks like something my Granddaughter is playing on her iPhone. Just saying.

Maybe a Candy Crush or Angry Birds DLC will be next in the PC gaming news here.

    1. There are quite a few rip offs of the game on mobile app stores (with names like CupHAND instead of Cuphead), just like basically every popular game (example: take one guess what series Get The Auto is hoping kids will confuse it with)

The actual Cuphead game has been highly anticipated since 2014 thanks to its gorgeous art style (think 1930s cartoons) and tough-as-nails difficulty, and released earlier this year, which is why it’s still news.

      1. tbh I was drunk-posting when I made that comment but even sober I think there is too much of this talk about how AAA games are bad and Indie games are good. There are some AAA games that are bad but that’s the way it’s always been. I think some people just get burnt out on AAA gaming and turn to Indie games for something unusual.

Also I think, in general, AAA games have gotten easier to beat than older games from the 90s and before but bear in mind that a lot of those games had cheat codes too so that “casuals” could play them also.

And one last thing about Indies that doesn’t make sense to me concerning people who are newer to gaming. Cuphead is $20 right now and without too much effort you could find 4 AAA games (in there day) from the 90s or early 2000s on sale on GOG right now for $5 each. Why do newer gamers pay $20 for an Indie game but won’t pay $5 for an old classic? Usually they cite the dated graphics but they don’t mind the usually inferior graphics of Indie games.

        1. I would have edited this into my comment above but then it probably would have gotten marked as spam and deleted but I was just reading an article on Ars Technica about Soma having a “Safe Mode” where basically the game is intact with all of the monsters but they can’t harm you. The Developer said:

“Our goal has been for Safe Mode to not feel like a cheat, but for it to be a genuine way of experiencing the game,”

Well, how is that different from god mode and what is the point in playing a game like that on safe mode if there is no challenge to it? Seems boring to me.

        1. Journalists are filthy casuals lately. That and the fact they don’t usualy got the time to spare on one game. And Cuphead takes quite a lot of time spent practicing :).
