Crytek is working on an unannounced triple-A game

According to a recent job listing, Crytek is currently working on an unannounced triple-A game. While the job listing does not provide any other details, this triple-A game could be the upcoming remake/remaster of Crysis.

Yesterday, Crytek shared an additional message on its social media. This message was actually the first line players hear in Crysis. So my guess is that this is another hint at the rumored Crysis Remake or Remaster.

Let’s hope that Crytek will officially reveal this unannounced AAA game sooner rather than later. It will also be interesting to see whether this is a new project or the Crysis Remaster/Remake.

Let’s also hope that the Crysis Remaster will look better than Crysis Modded. I mean, there won’t be any reason to remaster the game on the PC if it doesn’t look better than it.

What really worries me is the island footage that Crytek included in a recent trailer. That footage featured the same blurry assets/textures that the original Crysis game had. Therefore, I’ll be really disappointed if we are talking about a new Crysis using the latest version of CRYENGINE with all the default assets.

On the other hand, Crytek had already built a new island level for its CRYENGINE 5.6 Tech Trailer. So, let’s hope that the new Crysis will have this kind of graphics.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. I want full suit of ray tracing and latest water physics work with PBR textures everywhere and a modding tool :D.

      1. I thought the setup and twist in C2 was fine, but Prophet got a bit too conceited at times in C3 (I know Psycho was there to balance it out, but the story just bends over to elevate Prophet).

  2. Thing is many assets in Crysis still hold up very well. Texture and geometry wise. Especially the diverse and detailed foliage duh. So if they go the consolized path again, this remaster will end up looking worse than Crysis 1!

Btw did you know that sandbags barricades is made of dozens of individual sandbags? unlike in other game where it’s just a basic block with a texture added. One example why Crysis was so awesome back in the day!

    1. The foliage is not diverse at all for today’s standard, also textures and geometry needs some displacement mapping and tesselation.

“sandbags barricades is made of dozens of individual sandbags”

      Yeah pretty awesome

Not by far. The resolution of most textures in Crysis are only 512×512, the only reason they don’t look like total cr*p is because of additional shaders and one extra detail texture underneath. The reason why the textures was made so low-res is because of how much VRAM everything else required, and the sheer fact that most graphics cards back then only had 256-512 mb VRAM in total.

  3. I expect nothing less than crysis 4 with mindblowing gfx and a story that delivers. DONT FK WITH US CRYTEK. Don’t do it.

This footage is 100% original Crysis 1 and not a remaster of any sort IMO

I agree but even if it’s a cheap identical remaster, if it has modern multithreading capabilities, i could take it for less than 15€ (Better performance and extended modding capabilities i hope) but i think it will be a remake

“On the other hand, Crytek had already built a new island level for its CRYENGINE 5.6 Tech Trailer”

This is pretty much the proof that this is a remake

  5. Crysis twitter account is posting those messages not Crytek.
So probably a project related to Crysis.

  6. Make it so that at bare minimum you need a ryzen 3700x, rtx 2080 and ssd. Sure majority of people (90%+) won’t be able to play it but imagine the graphics and world they could build. That will show them console peasants.

  7. Maybe it can be like the FF7 “remake” that starts out the same but ends differently. Or just outright say its not going to be a simple remaster and there will be differences (hopefully not in the game play, but in other areas).
