Crytek has officially announced that it is working on the fourth installment of the Crysis franchise (which has the working title “Crysis 4”). In order to celebrate this announcement, the team released a CG trailer that you can find below.
Crysis 4 is still in a very early development stage. As such, you should not expect to be playing it anytime soon. My guess is that it will take Crytek 4-5 years in order to release it (and that’s my optimistic scenario).
As Crytek stated:
“As development progresses we will release more details when we can. But in the meantime, know that our dedicated and talented team is working hard to bring you a truly next-gen shooter.”
Ironically, Crytek has ruined one of our April Fools joke articles. Back in April 2019, we said that Crysis 4 was in development and that it would be an Epic Games Store exclusive. And while the game won’t be using Unreal Engine (obviously, duh), we successfully predicted everything else.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Boring!
We’ve known about this for what, half a year? A year? And they announce it officially with some meaningless B roll CGI? Looks like the intro to some gamer youtube channel. It’s like they’re trying to pre-empt any hype by disappointing ASAP.
Do you understand the difference between a teaser and a reveal trailer?
Even with their differences, both are pointless.
To who?
A reveal trailer has a purpose: to show the game off and announce release dates.
A teaser generates hype. Not sure what more you expect from either of them.
You can do both things without a 30 seconds video.
You could, but where’s the fun in that?
You can show off some cool visuals with a video vs a text post.
Ah, so teaser are for morons…
Why announce games 4-5 years early. It should be 1 to 0,5 years maximum. MAXIMUM POWER.
Probably because they need to create some hype ASAP to receive some funds from investors ASAP to fund the development.
I’d guess the money influx from the remasters just helped them pay debts and their staff and keep the lights on for the near future only.
This is usually done to secure funding from investors.
Considering modern Crytek is a dead company, looking forward to it!
Well probably not before 2024
Finally something Crysis related to be mildly excited by. Haven’t cared at all for those cash grab remaster/remakes whatever they were. But apparently they brought in enough money for a new game.
I’m just hoping they focus on actually making a good game instead of creating a new “But can it run Crysis 4” meme.
Why don’t you cover Borderlands 3 John?
That game its the most stuttery game I have ever played
5900x/ RTX 3090
Cause it’s a f4g SJW mess.
I’d prefer a singe-player game based on the Hunt: Showdown world+gameplay.
YES!!!
MAXIMUM WOKE
*rainbows exploding in background*
“VIRTUE SIGNAL ENABLED”
Just make Prophet a black trans live matter and they are good to go.
whats woke about crysis?
“Join the journey”
Code for multiplayer-based (either PVP or PVE) full of microtransactions and live service crap, possibly even NFTs. Crytek died years ago, don’t expect anything worthwhile from them
I hate this industry.
Makes totally sense, since they’re broke af and will definitely try to sell everything they can. And since we know the world is full of r*tards, they’ll probably succeed on it.
The only reason for doing this is that EPIC will pay them millions for it. They don’t care about anything else really.
One trick pony, and if this unnecesary sequel (Crysis is a trilogy with a clear ending) gets the same treatment of the demasters…im out.
They had Ryse, The Climb and Robinson, both the latter titles were decent. Ryse was very basic but enjoyable at the updated price.
Remember Warface
Ah yeah, I used to play that all the time back in highschool haha. It was decent for a browser based shooter.
Warface was a good game on the first 3 years.
Ryse is a pretty looking braindead God of War with the depth of a raindrop filled with QTEs to kill every single enemy…no, thanks.
They managed to make an story set in ancient Rome playing as a roman legionary boring.
The Climb and Robinson are pretty much walking simulators…granted, VR crap so what else they can do? another shooter? sure.
Crytek only made Crysis and Far Cry 1 in my book since those are the only games worth to remember.
The Climb is a walking simulator? Have you even played it? I mean yeah it’s about climbing but it’s much more challenging than it seems in VR and the sense of vertigo is really immersive.
Is a VR game…a climbing simulator, sure…still has as much gameplay as a walking simulator.
I thought my point was clear, seems like it wasnt.
My point stands, Crytek is a one IP studio and they are milking it to oblivion, Crysis is done, in terms of narrative (which was r3tarded in a action movie way, i see the appeal) and gameplay…the last novel idea they had was a bow…at a time when every mainstream game had a bow.
And if they are banking on the main selling point of the series, the visuals…after the demasters that introduce current technology, im not impressed at all.
I don’t think you understand what a walking simulator means.
A walking simulator is a game that is boring because it has very little depth in its gameplay and pretty much all you can do is walk around.
If you can make the act of walking a fun and challenging mechanic, it’s no longer a walking simulator. It’s just a game that happens to be about that subject. Climbing in The Climb is not a barebones mechanic, they added a lot of depth to the implementation and how the grips are placed to make finding the right path an actual fun challenge.
I’m not sure how you can argue that they are a one IP studio when they literally have multiple IP’s, but I agree they are milking the Crysis franchise.
“Walking simulator” is a “game” with little to no interactivity or challenge (it doesnt have to be just walking), The Climb goes in line with that, not hard to understand.
If you want to climb, go to a gym and climb a wall.
Why is reading always so difficult for you.
I literally just explained how The Climb offers plenty of challenge and interactivity.
>”I literally just explained how The Climb offers plenty of challenge and interactivity.”
>” they added a lot of depth to the implementation and how the grips are placed to make finding the right path an actual fun challenge.”
Never played the game but what you describe sounds like bland trial and error stuff.
Maybe you should lmao.
Can’t believe people have strong opinions about games they’ve never even played.
Who said anything about having strong opinions? Seems like you are the one reading too much into things.
And you clearly cant understand what challenge or interactivity is, you certainly like to argue for the sake or aguing and im guilty of that sometimes so i can’t blame you, Karen.
I can apreciate how Crytek tried to mimick the experience of climbing, even trying to do some variety and the sense of vertigo is well done enough, but that just an experience (holding your hand in the air to grab a ledge like an idiot while you sit on a chair -i blame more the limitations of VR than anything else- is not challening or interactive), doenst compute as a game (same goes to walking simulators).
That’s like calling WII FIt games, is ridiculous.
I put VR experiences in the same tier of mobile games, both are mimicks that can’t compete with a mouse and keyboard or even a gamepad, they are by design different, hence why i can’t call them games but experiences at best.
Ah, so you project your own opinion of what constitutes a game onto all genres, and then proceed to call anything that doesn’t fit that as lacking interactivity.
Your argument doesn’t even make sense, as it would also apply to genres that you deem are games. E.g. “Playing Skyrim doesn’t count as a game because clicking a mouse button isn’t the same as swinging a sword”.
The fact that you think the definition of a game involves the input method is telling enough.
Honestly, have you even played Climb? If you think there’s no challenge in it that’s just absurd.
Thankfully, what you define as a game has literally no bearing or worth.
“The fact that you think the definition of a game involves the input method is telling enough.”
input method determines complexity, hence why mobile games are mostly simplistic.
Why does something need to be complex to be a game?
You can have simple mechanics that are hard to master with very basic input too.
It seems like you are operating from a very narrow perspective on what constitutes a game.
Did i state that simple games don’t constitute a game? I don’t engage in philosophical garbage.
“The fact that you think the definition of a game involves the input method is telling enough.”
That is what you replied too. What part of that statement implied that I was talking about how complex a game is? It was about games themselves, you’re point that mobile games are simplistic is irrelevant.
“What part of that statement implied that I was talking about how complex a game is?”
Imput method.
I brought up input method because the person I replied to mentioned it. I was saying the input method has nothing to do with how much of a game something is.
When you jump into the middle of a convo at least make sure you’re aware of what’s being said.
“I was saying the input method has nothing to do with how much of a game something is.”
That’s just like, your opinion man. You like simple casual games and get mad when others dismiss the games you like as trash, maybe grow a thicker skin or something…
Jesus it’s embarrassing that I keep having to explain this to you.
I’m not talking about what makes a *good game* or my personal preference. I was talking with Juanmaster about when something can be considered *a game*. He seemed to be claiming that mobile games aren’t games *because of their input method*.
I was claiming that input method doesn’t matter in determining if something is a game.
Then you come in the thread and randomly say “input method determines complexity” which has literally nothing to do with anything that was being said.
It’s because you are a sperg who takes things literally.
When Juan says he doesn’t consider some trash mobile game a game, he is just saying it is low quality software that is beneath him, it got nothing to do with philosophical mumbo jumbo about what is a game or not.
> he is just saying it is low quality software that is beneath him
Right, and this was my point from the beginning, he passes his extremely narrow tastes of good games onto games he hasn’t even played. Of course, he’s entitled to his opinion, but it’s a dumb opinion (to think that a game is automatically bad because the input method isn’t complex).
If it’s a single player i wonder what’s the story is going to be about?!!!
I’m betting the protag will be a black disabled trans.
Prophet is already a trans human or something, so it’s not far off.
Yeap, can’t wait for it 😉

Wow look at that spanking new consoles, cool, can you make a game that has big large open maps and destructibility and nonlinear gameplay like the original crysis but more? or you gonna make another linear shooter again?
+1 Internets for you.
That’s what I would like to see. More like the original Crysis but that’s not what today’s gamers want unfortunately.
sniper ghost warrior contracts 2 is like crysis without the nanosuit.
Gonna be developed and optimized for Switch first and then ported to PC.
My bet – First made on PC, then ported to console and then the inferior console port is demastered back to PC some 10 years later
You really expect this to be like C1?
Please make the game like Crysis 1 on a island but without the idiotic alien crap god that last part of that game was terrible
And bring Best Koreans to the fight.
🙂 Heck yah man
Make Kim Jon-Ung use a nano suit and we are golden.
Hell yeah and expected – hence the remakes!
Best news ever and I cant wait!
Crysis 3 is one of THE Best games ever made. Even loved the second one, actually way more then the first!
So yeah, im No Crysis 1 fanboy in the slightest. Found it way overated!
Crysis 3 was Magic. Lets keep it up Crytek!!
Damn your tastes are s**t.
why, now?
i bet its gonna be multiplayer bullcrap
But how is this possible? I thought EA owned the Crysis name? Does this mean Crytek is back under EA?
Will they finally code it properly for multi core/thread???
BTW, “Join the journey. Become the hero” sounds totally like prequel premise.
“they bankrupted and closed a lot of studios and bled”
Saddest part, they really bought the hype and thought they were the next big thing, mismanaged like retards and overexpanded like crazy and didn’t produce anything! Then they ended up whimpering and closing studios and leaving people jobless. What else did they expect!!!
What a lame story.
Contrary to you, i hope they learned something, straighten their jacket, produce something worthy this time, and retake the path of the potential they had.
Too bad i already played it, not playing it again just for HD models.
“This is going to be ultra woke feminized, n0ggerized, bastardized, f4ggotized MP for those Gen Z fools. I hope this bombs and this time they shut down this pro-BLM f4ggot company forever.”
Hi Latex,
Can you please eloborate these terms? What do they meant? You always use regularly these kinds of terms which I don’t see often somewher else like ‘pozzed’, ‘wokeman’, ‘n0ggerized’, ‘bastardized’, ‘f4ggotized’ and you also call Sony as Soygay, why? I want to know.
Plz dont think a troll here, I am serious. Becuase for more than a year I am a silent reader of your comments and I must confess that after reading your comments which alway contian information and so much hate 🙂 as a gamer I am now more aware about some trends, industry practice and current gaming culture and it really helps me to understand some cultures getting a common practice in the games.
The only reason why they started working on a Crysis Game After All These years is because they have an incentive to, EPIC STORE EXCLUSIVE. A.k.a the cart before the horse store
