Watch_Dogs is almost upon us and we’ve got some amazing news for those with older PC systems. According to the official PC Requirements list, Watch_Dogs needs at least 6GB of RAM. Well, today we can reveal that there won’t be any hard lock mechanism preventing users from playing this game, even if they only have 4GB of RAM.
This information comes from one of our sources that already has access to the game, and asked us to remain anonymous. Naturally, we were a bit cautious at first with this info but then Jonathan Morin, Creative Director of Watch_Dogs, stated the very same thing, thus making our source 100% credible.
In short, PC gamers with less than 6GB of RAM will be able to launch the game. There might be some swap issues when the game loads more data, but there won’t be any lock similar to the one found in the unpatched version of Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Watch_Dogs releases on May 27th!

It will not be a surprise if 760 running WD in ultra at 30FPS/1080p on dayone
Ubisoft = liars!
Have you seen the game already running on a 760 to be calling Ubisoft liars? I f*cking swear, people like you are more frequent on this site these days.
XB1 = 1408×792 – High settings – 30fps locked
PS4 = 1600×900 – High settings – 30fps locked
2 Year old PC spec(AMD FX 6300/GTX660) = 1920×1080 – High settings + NVIDIA features – unlocked frame-rate – cheaper priced game.
lmao. and you actually believe the devs comments about it running high on those consoles? come on dude…..
dice said the same thing about their ps4/xb1 versions of BF4 – the high settings claim. and it turned out the game wasn’t even running on medium settings, let alone high. this was confirmed through screen comparisons.
developers don’t want to undersell their “NG” versions of games, so of course they’re not going to come out and say “hey guys, our ps4/xb1 versions run at medium/low settings, but it still looks great!”……nope.
How do you know that BF4 on console was not running at an equivalent to the PC version on “high”? Where are the screen comparisons? I am not doubting you – I just want to know if this information exists with some kind of evidence. Does anyone ever do an in depth side by side comparison of console to various PC qualities to see where the console version sits? That would be an interesting chunk of information for those new to PC gaming.
X1 and PS4 will run it on medium settings ,not high.
Ubisoft confirmed they will be on high settings.
Ubisoft has a deal with sony.
Jonathan Morin: “PC High settings = NG Consoles” , also Ubisoft have a deal with NVIDIA.
Watch Dogs free with any Geforce 660 or above card and NVIDIA graphics features like HBAO+, TXAA.(probably optimised better for NVIDIA cards, driver ready with SLI profile, 4K support).
Think it trough ,as most of ubi games you got very high before ultra so….
low
medium
high–>consoles
very high
ultra
Now tell me ,where are the high settings positionated?
Depends on the pre-set names or even if they have pre-sets, AC4 didn’t have ultra, nether was very high an option for every graphic setting.
What i can confirm you right now is that the Xbox 360 version is low presets AT BEST ,i’ve been watchin some walktroughs and even though the framerate is stable ,the graphics looks really bad.
OMG, the XBox360 version looks horrific
It was exactly what i was specting ,i mean all of those npc profiles ,i was specting really light graphics although the LOD while driving at high speed is higher than what i thought.
You still believe the amount of shit Ubisoft says?
Wow.
Well, until we see the game we can’t say anything or until Digital Foundry make the case, I’m just saying what they said and have no real grounds not to believe that. It seems they might have dropped the resolution for a higher setting and a 30fps cap.
Fair enough.
But I find grounds to distrust Ubisoft based on the amount of smoke they’ve been blowing over the last 3-4 years.
They said AC3 would be extremely optimized on the PC, turns out to be a turd that needed the community to fix. Why not hire the community for porting then?
They said the same damn thing again on AC4, boasting Nvidia features with a trailer too just like they did on Watch Dogs. Result? Same thing with AC3, it’s an unoptmized, buggy mess and it still isn’t fixed yet till this day.
Watch Dogs to be different? lol… okay.
AC4 turned out great on the graphics side, stunning looking game, nice NVIDIA options as well. Remember, AC4 is very dynamic, it’s what a lot of people forget.
And you believe some stranger on the net?
Uhh no? Since when did I say I believed anyone on the net in my post?
when ubi says it’s high on consoles then read it as medium sean :))
LOL, I know but lets see what Digital Foundry say 🙂
don’t forget screentearing too. i watched X1 version on youtube it was tearfest. might be the video but maybe
Looking at the final version… Even PC version is medium compared to E3!!
AMD FX 6300 – 118.49$
4 GB ram – 51$
GTX660 – 196.98$
500 gb hard drive – 51$
total = 417.47$
without cpu cooler , case , monitor , power supply , and blu-ray drive yeahhhhhh pc master my ass even low range pc more expensive than ps4 or XO
I’m laughing hard at the lies Sony spread about this game, saying it was 1080p60 when it’s only 900p30. That’s a pretty big discrepancy and shows that even the PS4 is a PoS compared to current PCs.
Yeah well, it was never running at 1080p/60fps on consoles and never was going to be unless they used some low detail setting.
Your forgot something:
XB1 = online play service for a year: 50 €
PS4 = online play service for a year: 50 €
PC = online play service for a year: free, forever.
What if you don’t like online multiplayer like me?
The argument becomes invalid to those people
Watch_Dogs Xbox360 leaked online 5 days before release. PC version cancelled.
lamo,,its not true lol
Watch.Dogs.XBOX360-NoGRP
I know but Ubisof always blaming PC piracy. 😛
riped 360 version of the game is 8GB. nothing ripped, by rip they mean removing security thing on disk no content or langs, the whole game on last gen is 8GB.
True dat …sadly is already pirated 😐 sad is just sad……
Great news for those with low ram.
haha..next what dual core pc such as i3 will able to run watch dogs..ubisoft liar
Of course an i3 can run watch dogs but it will bottleneck the game and hinder the performance.
Don’t forget this game was designed for PC’s from get go not the other way around.
Seriously everybody needs to update their ram to 8 GB, this is just holding development of fantastic games back, ram is also very cheap. Also 8 GB is what consoles run on.
The consoles only have about 5GB available for the games. The other 3GBs are reserved for OS and other applications.
So what ? Win 7/8 also use lots of ram for the OS and other applications. 8 GB is afterall industry standard nowadays.
Win 7 doesn’t use a lot of memory it uses 1GB in my PC but with Memory optimizer it can be reduced to 800mb and it’s NOT a lot of size.
I hope you realize that so-called “memory optimizers” actually hurt your system’s performance. They “free” RAM by forcing Windows to use the much slower page file on your hard drive.
you still can turn off usless services manualy. i did it and it use only 800mb ram, and i get a little performance boost in some games and faster boot time
Manually disabling services is not the same as using a “memory optimizer” utility.
of course, it’s safer and you don’t need another software and it’s services to run to disable other services 😀 by the way, not just memory, it eliminate some useless cpu tasks too
not really it sounds like you have no idea how the software works. it works by removing garbage data in the memory and it doesn’t HURT the system. use it before babbling.
On the contrary, it’s you who doesn’t know how software works. Modern operating systems generally don’t keep “garbage data” in RAM. What they keep is program information so that, for example, when you ALT+TAB to another application, it’ll pop-up instantly instead of having to load from the page file on your hard drive which is substantially slower than your RAM. If an active application needs more RAM, then your OS will transfer data to the page file to free up the needed space. This all happens automatically in the background without user intervention. The only thing the user notices is a better performing operating system.
.
“Memory optimizers”, on the other hand, operate on the fallacy that your computer’s RAM should be kept as empty as possible and force the OS to prematurely dump data to the hard drive, which obviously, assuming you understood anything in the previous paragraph, is exactly the opposite of what you want.
.
Keep using “memory optimizers” if you want, but you should know that they do more harm than good. Oh, and if you spent money on one then I’m sorry to say that you were ripped off.
wrong. it’s true modern OSs clean the garbage data but not in certain times and not all garbage data. so it has to be manually cleaned up. there are two kind of programs 1. game optimizer 2. memory optimizer what game optimizer does close unnecessary programs and stop unnecessary services and clean the garbage data from the system memory but memory optimizer only does clean the garbage data from the system memory. you sound like a noob so please go and get yourself educated. don’t talk if you have no idea about something. usually you can free up to 300mb with memory optimizer because OS is unable to remove all garbage data from the system memory. I have it and I have done it and I know it.
This is hilarious, being called a “noob” by a kid who wastes his money on junk applications like “memory optimizers”.
.
You obviously didn’t understand my explanation. So-called “garbage data” is largely a myth promoted by snake-oil salesmen trying to convince rubes like you to buy “memory optimizers”. It only really exists if there is a serious low-level error in which a program doesn’t release the memory it was using and the OS is unable to free it, in which case your “memory optimizer” is unlikely to remedy the situation.
.
But go ahead and keep wasting your money on worthless utilities. I’m sure the guy who took your money is laughing all the way to the bank. 🙂
” wastes his money on junk applications like “memory optimizers”.”
first of all no one wastes money because most of memory optimizers are free of charge. calling WASTE OF money indicates that your ignorance and it also implies that you never tried the software. if you never tried you don’t know how it works. you early babbled some gibberish but again it sounds lie since you have never tried any memory optimizers. FAILED.
I don’t want to explain further because your entire argument is based on your ignorant foundation. I kicked the foundation so the entire building is collapsed.
First, there are some memory optimization utilities that do cost money, and you strike me as someone dumb enough to piss away your money on snake oil. Second, this fact was not a foundation of my argument making your little tirade a non sequitur. Even if I was wrong about the cost, the rest of my argument still stands.
“do cost money” just because there are some memory optimizers that cost money doesn’t mean every single memory optimizers charge money so you failed in that case. since your second argument is based on first one you failed again too. miserably failed troll.
Whether or not they cost money is entirely beside the point, you idiot. The fact is that so-called “memory optimizers” are literally worse than useless since they actually harm performance. Seriously, kid, do some research and educate yourself.
you are annoying and irritating babble the same thing again and again when already failed. why don’t u GTFO? troll. I don’t even read ur comments now.
Willful ignorance is not a virtue, kiddo. We’re not allowed to post links here, so I recommend that you do an internet search for “do memory optimizers work” and start reading. You’ll be hard pressed to find anybody who says yes who isn’t trying to sell you a memory optimizer.
.
Or just keep being a gullible moron. It’s obvious you’re too stupid to change your mind even when presented with facts and a sound argument, but hopefully other people who stumble across this thread will be convinced to not fall for the same scam that you have.
:p
1Gb isn’t a lot, some of that is cache as well, it doesn’t reserve 3GB like consoles do and unlike consoles, PC’s can properly multitask.
The PS4 has to have 256MB of DDR3 just for background tasks because the GDDR5 has horrible latency.
I guess but yeah I do agree ram is very cheap these days, but consoles have shared memory though so its a little different.
Its not. Win 7/8 also use lots of ram for the OS and other applications. 8 GB is afterall industry standard nowadays.
No the Industry doesn’t have a standard when it comes to Memory size. just because you have 8GB doesn’t mean we should have the same. still so many users have 4GB RAM.
you still can manage windows ram usage. i use win 7 64bit and it uses 800mb of ram on start and less then 1gb ram the whole day, by turning indexing off, stoping unused services and turning down windows visuals. it basicly looks like win98 :)) but it get the job done.
No,it’s crappy consoles and lazy developers that are holding making fantastic games back.if developers offer something worth better hardware, many will gladly upgrade.
Will Star Citizen or Witcher 3 do?
Witcher 3? I believe it has the potential but unfortunately i have no information about star citizen so i can not give any opinion.what about you my friend?do you think that star citizen is gonna be a big visual/technical title like what we expect from witcher 3?
Yeah I think so because its a game made by Chris Roberts also it certainly wouldnt be the first time he forced people to upgrade their PC:s!
That is good mate.we pc gamers always like to see games that are really worth pushing our hardwares, forcing us to upgrade.:-)
ram is CHEAP ???? my A*S!!!!
I’m still using 6gb of Dominator ram from over 5 years ago. I don’t plan on upgrading until DDR4 comes out early next year.
such a shame that x360 version of watch dogs got leaked and peasant says pc has more piracy
gtx 650 + i3-2120 + gtx 650, will run?
It will yes, Intel Quad-core/GTX 460 is minimum,
Haha, Watch_Dogs, maybe a great game, but buy more big hardware parts to make us money so we can say we finally used quad core for once for this game, and its still questionable.
Will it support x86?
Sadly no, Watch Dogs does not support x86-32 systems. Source: http://www.ign.com/wikis/watch-dogs/PC_System_Requirements
Dam! I had 4Gb RAM and bought 8Gb RAM to play this game. I now have 12Gb, and i only need 4. This info should’ve been released sooner.
Don’t worry. I am pretty sure you will get a much better game experience with 12GB of ram than you would have with only 4. With all this ram you will likely experience less pop-in problems etc
That’s good news. Although I still placed an order for more RAM just now, because I realized 4Gb is just starting to be a bit too low these days.
For £100 more you can have a PC that can do anything, play anything the consoles can and have a massive library of games. Also, you don’t actually need a montior for a PC, just get an HDMI cable and plug it into your HD TV(PC’s don’t need blu-ray to play games).
Speaking of value, £100 more than a console you get this PC.
“AMD FX 6300 Black Edition, 3.5GHz Hex Core
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3, AMD 760G Chipset
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
2GB XFX Radeon HD R9 270
1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
Microsoft Windows 8.1 64bit & 2 Year Return to Base Warranty”
Ignore the console peasant. Your build is a great peasant crusher.
Besides, with Steam and Humble Bundle, you recover the costs in no time. Seems all peasants have a hard time with math.
Which provides a much better experience (Resolution, Gameplay wise, Price Wise through constant game specials, free access to MP and really Mods , aswell as years and years of games and access to other platfroms through emulators so the price of a new pc really outweighs the cost of any console. and really there is no justification that console has sooo much that it can offer that saving that few extra dollars , where with a good pc price isn’t an issue.
You get what you pay for. Seeing how a low-end PC is more powerful and far more versatile than a PS4 or XBone, I don’t see how it’s somehow scandalous that it costs more.
If it matters, I managed to start Max Payne 3 when I only had 1 GB of Ram (Even if it says that minimum is 2 GB) and I got what I deserved, I have a feeling that same thing will happen to those that have only 4 GB with WD. Anyway that was the last day I had only 1 GB of ram as I bought 8 GB of ram next day.
Mine was $538 and continues to out preform both of the new consoles in terms of graphic quality and frames per second. It is hooked up to my HDTV and controlled mainly by my wireless Xbox 360 controller. You can see all of my game play tests and build pictures here: http://www.nextgenlastgen.wordpress.com
I am not a huge gamer, but I will not invest my money in something that is blatantly underpowered and out dated. Plus, it is important to understand computers and how they work…since most of live revolves around them.
You dumbfuck! You can do so much more with a good PC! Everybody needs a good pc at home douche!
can i run it on 6 gb ram nvidia gtx 650 ti boost and amd athlon ii x2 270 ????????
Oh, as expected I’m going to upgrade my rig now! 🙂 Thanks for the link by the way!
Maybe I should just add another stick of ram just to be safe. I have 4 GB right now
