Classic run and gun action platformer, Cuphead, will be available on both Win10 store and Steam

Cuphead is a game we are really looking forward to. This platformer is exclusive to Microsoft’s platforms and we are happy to report today that the game will be available on both Win10 store and Steam at launch.

But what about those who want a DRM-free version of Cuphead? Well, it appears that those will have to wait a bit as the game will be coming to GOG at a later date.

As StudioMDHR Entertainment’s developer wrote at NeoGAF:

“Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GoG release likely shortly after).”

StudioMDHR Entertainment also claimed that there will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that.

Cuphead releases on September 29th!

  1. Oh it has to be on Steam alright, those devs wouldn’t be banking entirely on just X1 and the win 10 store after all these years,

        1. @Sp3ctr0 has shown me the light and it’s as bright as Phil Spencer’s smile. Praise be to Microsoft.

          1. Sp4ctr0 has deceived you. Don’t go into that light. It’s really a portal to MS hell.

          2. Sp3ctr0 has me taking tentative steps along the righteous path whereby we heathens can learn a thing or two from the fine upstanding values of the peasantry. Praise be to Microsoft. #UWP

  2. Gooder. I will both purchase and play this game. My hope is that I’ll enjoy my gameplay experience thereby justifying my purchase.

    1. This is INDIE game so it will be available on all platforms. Of course some platforms will be better than others:

      Cuphead (Windows 10 + Xbox One + Xbox X)
      – Xbox Play Anywhere: single buy on all platforms together
      – works on PC
      – works on Xbox
      – achievements, multiplayer and all DLC shared between PC, Xbox One, Xbox X

      Cuphead (Steam Store)
      – works only on PC

      1. If you have a Windows 10 PC why the hell would you bother playing it on Xbox? lol

I look forward to the superior Steam PC version.

        1. And espeiclaly if you have amonster pc like my Ryzen 1700 3.0ghz 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ GTX 970 G1 GAMING why ever think about xbox? Xbox is for 3 years old kids who their parents dont have money to buy them a strong pc like mine!

          1. >the 970 is low end

That is what I said, and a low end setup can be called “ok”, that’s what I’d call it.

Destroying consoles isn’t a big achievement, and that’s not what was being questioned.

      2. Steam Version:

        Single-player
        Co-op
        Local Co-op
        Steam Achievements
        Full controller support
        Captions available
        Steam Cloud

Oh yeah windows 10 version will be so much better.

You might won’t believe it but xbox live is considered cancer from a lot of us

          1. Of course! What, you expect Microsoft to pay for your electricity bill?

            OH, THE ARROGANCE!

      3. Like I told you last year mate, that entire argument of yours depends on one single factor, more than anything;

People actually giving a f*ck about the Xbox version, which if you actually check, you’ll find that the overwhelming majority just don’t. Especially when the cross-platform PC version is tied to Windows 10 & UWP.

The basic idea is nice, sure, but most people just don’t care about it, period.
