Cities: Skylines Has Sold 500K Units in Just a Week

As we’ve already said, Cities: Skylines is Paradox’s fastest selling title. A couple of days ago, we informed you about the game’s sales surpassing 250K copies in just a day. And today, we are happy to report that Cities: Skylines has surpassed 500K sold copies worldwide.

As Cities: Skylines official Twitter account claimed.

Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order were really embraced by the PC gaming community. Instead of locking its title and slapping an always-online DRM, Colossal decided to win PC gamers by making the paid version of Cities: Skylines superior to the pirated version.

In order to achieve something like that, Colossal released proper mod tools for its title, and in just a week we’ve seen some pretty amazing mods for it.

Paradox and Colossal also promised to continue working on this title by offering constant updates that will fix – and perhaps add new free content – issues reported by its fanbase.

  1. But “Flat out Right” kid sony drone said “PC gamers only play free sh!t”. As a good troll he never comes to these posts. But who cares about those kiddos who are watching the new 8 hours movie called The Order. PC is having a great time with really good games.

      1. It’s not about patent. EA/Maxis made some so bad decisions with their city builder, that in comparison with it this one looks even better and hence much more appreciated.

        1. Ah ok, now I understand your first post.

Well then maybe they should send a letter to Monte Cristo for making a bad decision with Cities XL and another letter to Focus Home Interactive for a bad decision with Cities XXL. lol

          1. Well, no letters, I get it. My bad.
I’m not much into city-building and know very little about Cities but outcry from fans about latest SimCity was massive and hard to miss even for bystanders so I concluded people would be grateful when someone give them something that works properly. Should improve my knowledge first.

  2. After the average scores on Colossal Order’s first two games Cities in Motion & Cities in Motion 2 they finally get the reward that they deserve in their third game.

    Kudos to them!

  3. That’s excellent news. Recently it was also revealed that Rome 2 sold over 5 million copies. Slap in the face of those people who say High End PC games without DRM don’t sell, so it’s OK to downgrade the game.
