Okay, we knew it would happen one day. After all, Modern Warfare 3 is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2011. According to a lot of sources, the single player portion of Modern Warfare 3 has been leaked and pirated discs began to spread quickly after an employee at a shipping warehouse in Fresno, Calif., stole one disc. The leaked Modern Warfare 3 image is said to be around 7.4GB and has no multiplayer functionality.
What’s more interesting though is that Activision has hired investigators to go to the homes of known owners of the pirated version to return the copy, or face a fine of $5,000 and a permanent ban from playing online. That’s according to VentureBeat.
Now there is a problem tracking the pirates via bittorent (especially if the pirates are using proxies), but don’t say that you haven’t been warned.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is slated for release on November 8th.
