Bigben Interactive has removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from 2Dark

2Dark was the first game, powered by the latest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech, that was cracked by a “certain” group. And since the game has been cracked, Bigben Interactive decided to play it smart and completely remove Denuvo from its title.

As Bigben Interactive claimed in its statement:

“Based on recent events and the sheer amount of community feedback we received regarding 2Dark’s use of Denuvo, we have now taken the decision to remove Denuvo from 2Dark.”

Bigben has already issued a small update that completely removes the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from 2Dark.

2Dark is the fifth game from which Denuvo has been completely removed post-launch. The other four games are DOOM, The Climb, Homefront: The Revolution and Inside.

Well done Bigben!

      1. It doesn’t have to be a refund, if Denuvo is getting some sort of continuous percentage-based payment it would make sense to remove the DRM as soon as it gets cracked so they don’t have to keep paying for it.

          I don’t think the costumers would enjoy the “experience”, but hey, that’s just me.

      2. There was “confirmation” of a 90-day refund period a while back, though they may have removed that since, in order to shore up their bottom line, considering how much business it must have cost them last year.

      1. PC gaming have: 3 Stalker games, All Real Time Strategy games (Planettary annihilation, age of empires,etc), Jagged Alliance 2, Thief 1 and 2, Deus Ex, etc. and all of the games above will be emulated, sorry it’s the truth.

      3. You can throw at us every list of console exclusives at us PC gamers but they will never deny the simple, cold fact – consoles lost the gaming war. Your beloved consoles have to appropriated a lot of PC features-both software and hardware-in order to stay relevant. Remember PS3’s CELL’s CPUs and super fast RAM? Well, they ditched making anymore exclusive console hardware and just used modified versions of PC stuff. During te PS3/360 era console fans ridiculed PC gamers for having only MMOs as their exclusive games and yet now everyone is making those types of games.

        1. Well said. The example of his that made me laugh the most was Destiny. He genuinely seems to believe that PC gamers en masse are deeply envious of not having that dreck on their platform!

          Also note how he failed to mention that Destiny 2 is coming to PC even though the response to that announcement here was that of near-universal apathy because we don’t give a damn about it.

        Oh, and you also failed to mention that Sony has already confirmed that they’re bringing PS4 games to PC via PlayStation Now. Finally, Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played on PC right now thanks to Cemu.

        Have fun with limiting yourself to all those ‘cinematic’ sub-30 fps overpriced games on console while being a good little corporate slave.

      NOW not before, the “feedback” was given before release but now that the game is cracked and the sales are still a joke they removed it.

          2. I already bought Bayonetta on Steam just to show my gratitude to SEGA and Platinum. Plus the game being 20 euros helps a lot for my poor wallet. 🙂

            This is the first time I’ve played Bayonetta believe it or not, but I’m greatly so far.

          3. Same. I really don’t do pre-patch buys, but this time I pushed a lot of people to, as well, in order to shore up the sales numbers as fast as possible.

            On the subject of which, I found this, supposedly by SEGA; “Concerning Bayonetta surpassing 100,000 (according to SteamSpy), we do not have any confirmation of numbers. However, we are extremely overwhelmed by the support for Bayonetta and love that we reached #1 on the Steam charts!”

          4. agreed, such a fantastic game, get’s really hard toward the end, much harder than I remember back on the 360 but I’m older and it’s still a wonderful game !!

          5. I recommend you check out Transformers Devastation too, since it’s on sale right now for about 8 dollars/euros. It’s also made by Platinum and while it is on the budget side compared to Bayonetta, it also has a lot of elements from Bayonetta, while having it’s own mechanics and techniques to master.

            If you want to know just how deep the combat is in Devastation (despite being simplistic at first glance, you can check a Youtuber called Saurian Dash (just Saurian on YT), who made a “Transformers Devastation: System Guide” series. His videos are very well presented and edited. 🙂

          12. It makes me so happy that Bayonetta is skull f*cking Bullsh*tstorm in sales. As of this comment, it’s ~121,700 vs ~10,900. Even with Bullsh*tstorm’s much higher price tag, its revenue comes out to ~$381,500 vs Bayonetta’s ~$1,703,800 after taking out Valve’s 30% cut. Well done, Steam players!

      I wanted to try fallout sheter on pc, so i check it out, yup its free. Great lets get it, from where? Bethesda, ok lets downoad it from them, what is this? A donwloader installer? Ok whatever….damn downoader is stuck downloading” for hours, restart pc, now its finaly working. Great now lets play the game……Whats that? My bethesda acount? I own doom, fallout 4, skyrim, wolfenstein new order and old blood, dishonored 1 and 2 and new vegas. This is the first time i am forced to make an account to download a game.

      Screw it, lets get it from steam… WAIT, what if they force me do the same? Screw it i just pirate it… A FREE GAME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!

      Sometimes its about service. If bad service makes someone a pirate, then maybe those corporations are making our lives more difficult instead of easier and that is the reason gamers are against these kind of DRM and other anticonsumer business practises.

  10. Oh my god it’s happening. Denuvo is gonna go bankrupt soon, unless EA is adamant about using it. 3DM said Denuvo would be much stronger than StarForce and 3DM said it would “end” piracy. Look at CPY now boys! (Although yes, Denuvo is a lot harder to crack than StarForce or even SecuROM)

    I’d have more respect for them if their PR had the guts to admit why there was so much community kickback to them having included Denuvo after having said they wouldn’t. Those weasel words in their PR statement only hint at it which, in my opinion, further damages their credibility. Just be straight with the consumer if you hope to salvage some of your former reputation that you yourself trashed.

  15. Too late to save the Face, it’s still one of the s**tiest publishers out there, just look at the garbage they released past year and all of them are loluvo. They didn’t removed it from Sherlock even tho it was cracked, maybe Refund time was over or maybe Devs didn’t wanted it, either way F them.

  17. What perhaps amuses me most about console cheerleaders such as him is that they seem to think their console is special. The thought never appears to cross their mind that,

    A. Many PC gamers are multi-platform gamers, i.e. we own at least one console alongside our PC because we don’t have limited options like they do, and

    B. We typically spend as much money on a graphics card alone as it costs to buy a console and in many cases considerably more money than that. If many of us wished to own a console then we’d have bought one but we choose not to because for myriad reasons we don’t consider them worthy of our attention.
