Modders Agent_Ash and Jekyll_Grim_Payne have been working on a mod for the original Doom games, Beautiful Doom. Beautiful Doom aims to improve each and every single object in Doom, making them smoother, more impressive visually and having better sounds while retaining vanilla gameplay.
Beautiful Doom features smoke effects, casings, debris, hugely enhanced gibbing system, as well as smooth weapon animations.
In addition, this mod comes with two new player classes: the ‘Vanilla Guns’ class will give you guns that only look better but act the same as original Doom guns. On the other hand, the ‘Enhanced Guns’ class introduces as number of changes: for example fist and pistol are slightly more effective, and many weapons have alternative attacks which, while not really more powerful, provide certain tactical variety.
This new version of Beautiful Doom comes with improved blooddrop sprites, less blood pools for enemies when shot, a different alternative attack for Enhanced Fist, options that control the number of existing blood drops and debris, and a new fullscreen HUD.
Those interested can download this mod from here.
Have fun!

Bloom is waaay too overdone on the plasma rifle.
Agreed, but its mostly the problem with the Configuration and Video settings they have used while recording this video, not with the mod.
Too much blood. 7/10
Grumble everything’s terrible grumble grumble
TBH I prefer Brutal Doom / Project Brutality over this….
One more thing…. for the love of Doom please use nearest mipmap texture filter it looks waaaay better (sharper & cleaner) than linear/bilinear/trilinear filter (same thing goes for Quake1)

Good stuff, meanwhile new Doom gets no mod support and it’s GOTY (LEL)
Am I the only one who actually prefers the pixellated look of the original? It looked so… raw.
