Battlefield 1 – Open beta begins on August 31st, Gamescom 2016 trailer released

Electronic Arts and DICE have announced that the open beta phase for Battlefield 1 will begin on August 31st. According to EA, the Battlefield 1 Open Beta will include the Sinai Desert map, a “scorching hot battlefield located just East of El-Jifar.”

The Battlefield 1 Open Beta will support two game modes:

  • Conquest. An all-time fan favorite of Battlefield players, Conquest is a large-scale game mode with up to 64 players fighting for the control of key objectives. With large armies on foot or behind the wheel and the addition of fearsome Behemoths, Conquest brings together all the elements of the signature Battlefield All-Out War.
  • Rush. A 24-player mode where the Attacking force must find and destroy the Defending force’s Telegraph Posts, which can be used to call in artillery strikes. The Defenders can deny the Attackers their mission by disarming explosives they plant on the telegraph positions. Should the Telegraph Posts be destroyed, the Defenders must fall back to the next sector and protect the Telegraph Posts there.

In addition, EA has also released the Gamescom 2016 trailer for Battlefield 1.

Enjoy!

  1. Hello there, dumb salivating masses.

Our name is DICE, & we have here for you another hilariously edited bullshot trailer timed to really sh*tty music, that absolutely in no way what-so-ever reflects the actual gameplay you’re going to get, since it’s designed especially, specifically to point out what a bunch of f*cking retards you all truly are when you cheer your tiny little throats out to this sh*t, because HPYE TRAIN, MUTHAF*CKA’S!

Now toss those wallets up front, & don’t even think about skimping on us by sneaking out a few bills. Oh, $130 is all-you’ve-got? Well, guess what…. You’re in luck! Because that’s exactly how much this delightful, glorious, beautiful, in no-way-what-so-ever-a-total-f*cking-legal-ripoff gam-er, sorry, prod- er, my bad, my bad, service! – there! finally! – is going to cost you!

Dammit, I keep forgetting legal wants us to refer to it as a service rather than a product…. Ugh!

    1. Jeez, calm down.

There’s an open beta in not too long. The trailer is a good trailer that aims to do what any trailer does, hype the game and present it in an entertaining manner, while showing off exciting features.

The trailer isn’t bullshot. Judging from alpha gameplay, that’s how good it looks. Maxed out on PC, I see no reason you can’t get those visuals in game.

      1. Visually I have no doubt it won’t be downgraded, as it’s not what DICE does (at least not going by their history).

Gameplay-wise, it’s extremely misleading, as all Trailers like this are when it comes to FPS’s, dating back how many years now. An endless stream of “action, action, action, action, action, action, action” – seriously, the Fury Road Trailers didn’t have this much action bullshots in them.

No really, if this Trailer is accurate, we’re not going to have actual gameplay, we’re just going to have a dozen-or-so “loading screen – jump in, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL, KILL! – DO YOU FEEL THE RAMBO, YET?! NO? THEN KILL, KILL, KILL SOME MORE, B*TCHES!” scenarios (maps) to play through in assorted game modes & player counts.

Then of course there’s the ever-more irritating fad of timing the Trailers to generic popular music, “because it makes us look hip” or some sh*t like that.

Oh hey, it’s set in the 1910’s? Oh….. Well, since apparently music didn’t exist at the time, let’s go with a generic pop song from the 21st Century instead! Ooooh, Dub Step ripoff! Yaaaaay, perfect!

  2. well, that was a nice trailer. Too bad the game will play out like crap, and the balance will be terrible.
