Bandai Namco Games’ Katsuhiro Harada Hints At Tekken 7 Coming To The PC

Tekken 7 will be powered by Unreal Engine 4 and while a PC version is rumored to be coming out, there is still no official word from Bandai Namco Games about such a version. Still, during an interview with Korean website inven, Bandai Namco Games’ Katsuhiro Harada hinted at this new fighting game finally coming to our platform.

As Harada said when asked about a possible PC version, Bandai Namco Games has not determined yet the platforms in which Tekken 7 will appear (other of course than the arcade version).

“We have not yet decided or confirmed platforms other than arcade since it is not done yet. We are considering a PC version for certain countries that prefer or need to play on PC.”

So there you have it everyone. Harada also claimed that further optimizations would need to be made due to the game’s use of Unreal Engine 4. These optimizations will be essential for bringing this fighting game to other platforms, and thus increasing the game’s player base.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. i think it would be foolish if they skipped PC, seeing how they announced Storm4 for PC and the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse, more and more fighting games are appearing on PC,
Tekken 7 should join the ranks of SFV, MKX as the unreal engine 4 fighters on PC.

    1. My first reaction is to agree with you, but honestly some of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had have been with console-only games (at the time). Final Fantasy 7, Wipeout, ICO, and Shadow of the Colossus come to mind.

      1. And those games would have been even better experiences if they were on PC simultaneously as consoles, and they are because you can play them all right now on PC if you wanted to, where as you cannot on current-gen consoles. PC always wins in the end.

        1. That’s not the point. The point is that some people will go back because of the exclusives they can play NOW rather than waiting years.

And playing a game when it’s released is important because of how technology moves. If i had to wait for the PC version of some of these games then 1.) I would have lost interest, and 2.) it would look dated as graphics styles and techniques advance.

          1. well thats why he said they would have been better experiences if they had releases simultaneously

          2. Then you should blame publisher for this, not gamers. Besides, not everyone need a top notch graphics to enjoy a game. If a game is a truly gem, it will be a gem even after 20 years.

I disagree on many current gameplay design choices, because they are much more simplistic, and they serve mainly to reach a higher number of audience, not to give a more memorable experience.

BTW FF7 and Wipeout were on PC too.

          3. **”Besides, not everyone need a top notch graphics to enjoy a game.”

            ————————————-

So then you agree that PC and consoles are equal gaming experiences.

As a designer I can’t make sense of this.

So what? Were they different games on the PC? Nope – exactly the same as the console versions. And how much later did they come out? Remember, our conversation is about the merits of “Once you go PC you never go back,” which is stupid:

I’m as PC-gamer as one can get – it’s the ultimate platform for gaming, I believe – but quit with this divisive sh*t that pits one gamer against another. I’m tired of it. We’re all gamers – just because some people don’t have time or don’t feel like bothering with driver updates and system requirements does not make them less of a gamer. Just because PC gamers are gaming on a superior platform that does not make them better or smarter gamers. Game on every platform – buy a PC and a Playstation, and a Wii, and an XBox! Enjoy games on whichever platform you want.

          4. So then you agree that PC and consoles are equal gaming experiences.

There is a difference between technically old games that still plays good and intentionally downgraded ones.

As a designer I can’t make sense of this.

Then look where for example Resident Evil or Dead Space series end up.

            So what?

Nothing. I was merely pointing that Wipeout was on PC back in 1995 and FF7 back in 1998.

    2. I’m not entirely sure about that as PC has enough of its own problems.
Also, good games are platform independent. If anyone wants to make good PC game they can! And blaming consoles for bad PC ports existence is just plaint stupid. But PC is not definitely best gaming platform atm and there is lot of stuff that could and should improved.

      1. Well, since TES… and after the creation of Steam, emulators and graphics cards that keeps evolving so often (man, play TR using a good GTX with everything buffed up by NV driver or Skyrim, after tweaking skyrim.ini and modding it), i definitively think PC IS the best platform for sure.
But this is a fighting game topic and i agree that PC in this particular case, is not the best gaming platform for that… YET. ROdNEY, do you know that publishers are starting to launch more and more fighting games on PC? SFV have Sony paying a lot to Capcom, but won’t be a PS exclusive and if this fact don’t tell a lot for itself, nothing will! LOL. Not only these, but JRPGs are starting migrating too (remembering that WRPGs are dominated by PC since the world begins).
It looks like you are a fighting gamer and, talking ONLY about fighting games you have a point. But be sure, your mind will change about it. Soon 🙂

      1. Yeah, it sounded kind weird 😀
But i think it’s like (talking about VG): “only on PS”.
Now, talking damn seriously: “also on PC” (because they need to launch their game on THE superior platform).
Still, ONLY on something ALSO on something else is bizarre. lol

    1. I’m a PC gamer but why you have to put that taunting name of yours? It only provokes more console gamers. If you are a true PC gamer then you should convince them on PC gaming and not taunting them.

      1. Everybody can join the PC gaming master race though. Also, if you bought a current gen console in 2014, you deserve to be taunted a little bit.

        1. bla bla bla. you do realize “glorious pc master race” is an insult from yatchzee of zero punctuation about the pc games being obtuse and hard to understand?

      2. But true PC gamers don’t frequent comment sections like this. Its just a butthurt Xboner in disguise. Don’t you think its a bit hilarious/ a coincidence that all these PC Master Race people came out of the woodwork after the rumours of the weak Xbone in late 2012? I even know somebody who jumped on the PC Master Racer bandwagon only a week after the PS4 reveal and the epic 8GB GDDR5 announcement.
But another friend of mine who was always a massive PC elitist, doesn’t know or care for the current trends as he is far too busy playing PC games this past 20 years.

        1. You don’t even know the first thing. PC GAMING MASTER RACE was originally said as an insult to PC gamers, who enjoy complex games that aren’t dumbed down like console games, during one of Yahtzee’s Zero Punctuation videos, in which the term console peasants was also coined.

People just ran with the insult and made it theirs. I love how much it upsets console loyalists.

        2. No one cares about the xbone here. PC Master Race has been a term since 2008. Sony shills continue to make hilarious excuses after being BTFO and yelling “MUH 8GB GDDR5”.

We are elite because we are the elite :^)

          1. Comparing is irrelevant as consoles have 100W TDP; show me PC that in same power draw can offer better visuals, PC is less effective. That is just plaint fact that hopefully change soon enough.

          2. Well what do you expect? It’s a CPU at 1.6Ghz, APU all solider to the board with limited functionality. Put it under load like a PC and it will melt.

          3. It’s so limited they are already working on new consoles… I hope AMD’s future APU’s with HBM give them a fighting chance next go around. Nintendo has one in the works and Sony is already talking about PS5 lol

  2. This is really a good thing (console games coming to PC) coz I’ve already invested a lot of money on my PC but if there’s an exclusive that will force me to buy a console I’ll buy one. MonHun, Bravely Default and Fire Emblem forces me to buy a 3DS. I really love MonHun 🙂

      1. Well it’s SF5 but I thought it fit the Bill since now SF5 and Tekken7 are said to be only on PC/PS4 eh eh

  3. Stop hinting and just get with the times…foolish ignorant developers.

So tired of them thinking they “might” come to PC.
Grow up already and recognize us as the gamers we are and not as console users.
That’s not me bashing console users, that’s me saying we are gamers even on PC.

    1. Don’t blame the developers.

When they hint at a system, they do that so they can gauge the reaction and then show it to the producers and investors, the people with the money, so that they give the okay to go ahead.

      1. But think about it.

        Is PC gaming new?
Did PC’s just come on the market?
Did the PC as a gaming platform suddenly just become a reality?

We have been here since forever.
PC has the largest player base in the world.

The fact is, any dev not on PC is ignorant.
No argument can counter that. People can try.

        1. Fighting games don’t exactly have a long history on PC. The devs might know but it’s the producers who have to be convinced, those two aren’t the same people.

Developers are rarely producers. An investor might not even know much about gaming at all, they’re just looking to make a profit and want to be as sure as possible that they will.

          1. I am 38. I know. Still not the point. Arcades are dead.
Console gamers are the majority of fighting games, I agree, but PC gamers also have controllers and internet etc and so on. That’s the point.

These developers are ignorant and have been for 30 years if not more.
You should know this. You can talk about investors this or that but I don’t care.

            2014 no excuses.

          2. I’m not saying fighting games shouldn’t come to PC. I’m all for it.

Japanese developers in general have been not attracted to the PC in the past. Japan is just a vastly different market. There’s also the strong stigmata that PC are just for p*rn games because that’s how it was in Japan for the longest time.

They are coming around now. So, why are you mad that they are a bit tentative? You can call the developers ignorant as much as you want, that doesn’t change the fact that they still have to convince their producer that making a PC version will be profitable and worth their time. A positive reaction on social media and in the press to hinting at a PC version gives them something they can show them.

That’s why developers throw out non committal hints. If you know, you should know this.

          3. We both want the games on PC. I get that.

All I am saying is and I will try to not sound like a punk but “japanese developers tend to be completely ignorant of anything outside of a console or handheld or arcade” and it’s been like this for how many years?

            That’s all.

          4. I think you’re using the words developer and producer wrong. Developers ARE producers. You’re thinking distributors which can foot the bill on another studio’s projects, but not every developer is controlled or bought by a distributor. Ubisoft, EA, Square Enix, Bethesda, Roxio – they all make games as well as distribute games from other developers/ studios.

But you’re right in that one can’t blame developers all the time when it comes to decisions regarding PC ports. Sometimes even investors have a say, especially when it comes to attempts to avoid scandal or bad press – if a game has nudity or ethically-dubious material a stock holder(s) with enough influence can get the game toned down so that it’s less risky (risqué?), but that would be rare.

          5. Yes, there are publishers who also develop in house games, I’m aware of that. But the person who inhabits the role of producer is rarely also a developer. Developers work on the game, directors are developers too but they aren’t producers. I think people are often conflating the role of a game director with that of a game producer. The producers are overseeing the financials while the director is overseeing the creative. The dynamic between the two doesn’t change much just because the producer and the developers are working for the same company.

Of course you’re right about investors but that only adds to my point, now the developers have to convince 2 separate entities, or at least convince the producer so that they try and convince the investors.

          6. “Bandai Namco files DMCA complaint against Dark Souls fix”

            Not on-topic but not off-topic.

These kinds of decisions only boost my feelings of how ignorant developers are. His fix sold copies of Dark Souls. But they want the fix removed? You see what I mean by ignorance? They bring a game to us ported horribly and admitted they had no clue about PC and a modder fixes it and this is how they repay him and all of us? They need to open their eyes a bit wider. That’s my point.

          7. That’s caused by a bot. We’ve had some of our SweetFX configs being flagged by some companies for DMCA complaint as well. All we had to do is file a counter-notice

          8. John that’s crazy. Seriously, you should do an article about it if it’s confirmed that’s what happened. Thanks for the info, because PCG is running with it as an unconfirmed mistake but you know, like the truth.

  4. The game is being made for Unreal 4 so this should be very easy to do now. Harada was always a big PC gamer, unlike “The Glorious PC Master Race” user lol.

    1. So the new attack is “BAWWWW YOU DON’T PLAY GAMES”

That’s funny because the only one not playing games is you because the PS4 has no games.

      Stay mad, Sony cockroach :^)

  5. Now make it cross-play like SFV and that will be the ultimate. Actually all Fighting games from now on should be cross-platform-platy.
