Ha, I’ll believe it when I see it. I very much doubt this is the last patch for ACU. Mark my words, in one year from now we will be in exactly the same position, with patch 4 for Assassin’s Creed: Victory to supposedly optimize performance. Only I imagine the port and any so-called attempts to fix it will be even worse.
So they fix several issues? Who rights this notes?
I wouldn’t be shocked it Assassin’s Creed: Unity ends up being the most polished Ubisoft game at the end of all this. This is there biggest franchise and this is really the first time Assassin Creed series has come under a lot of scrutiny, before this it had been pretty smooth sailing for the series. Ubisoft will try super hard to get out of this mess as well as they possibly can otherwise Assassin’s Creed Franchise could go the way that COD series has gone, i.e. a once beloved franchise that is now the poster child of what is wrong with the gaming industry. They will try to salvage what they can and so far they are doing the right things.
FTFY.
And AC already is part of the embodiment of what is wrong with this industry: Excess.
Nah, it is not as badly milked as the COD series or even The Sims series back in the day. So far Ubisoft had been releasing pretty decent quality Assassin’s Creed games and last years entry AC IV was considered by many as the best in the series. This is the first time they slipped up because they tried to do too many new things at once and just ran out of development time as its release was clearly rushed in order to capitalize on Christmas Shopping season.
C’mon, since 2007 (year of the first AC), there’s been one every year. And even then, AC came out as a technical mess, how is that possible?
Introduction of new things? What? They went back to the same formula of the previous ones (read: big cities). And it isn’t the first time they’ve “slipped” either (AC2 DRM mess, AC III, just to name the ones I remember now).
And FFS, Ubisoft are a multi million dollar company, if they wanted to delay in order to deliver, they should have done that (see CD Projekt Red). They clearly wanted to rush the product in a unfinished state (post launch review embargos). This isn’t fine, no amount of patches should excuse the bad practices of this company.
AC Unity was too ambitious for its own good, Insane graphics, new combat system, new animation system etc they clearly needed more time to test the newly implemented features and are severely paying for that lapse of judgement
AC2 was a great game, DRM is a separate issue from the actual quality of the game.
AC3 was a great game, Connor was a boring protagonist, his father Haythem should have been the main protagonist of AC3 or Connor should have been more like Haythem in personality. The game was on new engine so a little relaxation could be given to the developers.
CD Projekt Red is very small compared to the likes of EA & Ubisoft and they don’t have to answer to the shareholders & investors if they miss a deadline.
Ubisoft rushes every single AAA game they ever make, most of their game’s average reviews are in the 80s because they do not spend the extra 3-6 months to polish a game to achieve the 90+ rating that their games could get. They choose to either move onto the creation of DLC or next game and fix the game after release with their usual 5-6 patches.
Jesus H. Christ, I give up ( -_-)’
You guys sure are spending a lot of time on AC:U – Where’s the next optimization patch for Far Cry 4, Ubisoft?
Different Team
Both are Ubisoft Montreal, no? They handed off the PC port to Ubisoft Kiev.
Ubisoft Kiev is basically Nvidia.
Really? How do you know that? 🙂
This patch is 6.7GB!
Seriously? How is that even possible as it doesn’t really add anything?
Yep, and Xbox One users are having to download 40Gb because of an issues, even he download has issues LOL
I’m pretty sure They downgraded parts of the game, which would explain the patch replacing paris and the game becoming smaller, and i’m willing to bet, the fixed issues with NPC , they also downgraded that. At this point, i just want a working game, 2 months later.
Well like I said in the past since release. I got fooled by gameplay video’s that got shown to gamestop employees.
As for this so called Performance patch…. We Shall See…
This game is a joke!
UBISOFT is one bug ISSUE!
The game crash after the kiss scene level ends every single time (3% progress)
Every single patch for this game is giant and it fixes alot of important things…
My god, how can they even release it in this state.. I’ve seen broken games on day 1, but none of them needed so much patching before it gets stable and much less buggy..
Skyrim with 100 mods (alot of them are causing problems for me) is not as buggy as this brand new unmodded game..
“Part of the team’s effort to enhance frame rate for players involves replacing and updating portions of the Paris city map where we are seeing issues. This explains the large size of this title update (6.7 GB). However, since a large portion of the patch replaces existing files the net increase to the game’s overall size will be less than 6.7 GB. ”
LOL.
“We have received and confirmed reports that some Xbox One players who have previously applied Patch 3 are seeing a 40GB download instead of the expected 6.7GB download. Unfortunately, an issue with the patch downloading process is replacing the entire game instead of just the parts affected by the patch. This is obviously not the expected behavior, and we apologize that many of you will have to wait longer than expected to complete this download. ”
Another LOL at Ubisoft.
