Ubisoft announced today that Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered will launch on March 29th. In order to celebrate this announcement, the French company released a comparison video between the original and the remastered versions of Assassin’s Creed III.
As the press release reads, the Remastered edition will feature 4K and HDR, as well as higher resolution textures, a new graphics engine and several other graphical enhancements. Gameplay mechanics and ergonomics have also been improved.
As we can see in the comparison video, the game will come with new vegetation assets and better lighting effects (such as volumetric lighting).
Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered will include the full game, the single-player missions Benedict Arnold and Hidden Secrets, The Tyranny of King Washington and Assassin’s Creed III Liberation Remastered.
Enjoy!

Well this is something nobody asked for.
I’m bloody happy it exists. My favorite AC by far
Remastered = We added yellow piss filter
It’s not nearly as bad as Toussaint’s yellow filter from Witcher 3: Blood and Wine and you can at least argue that it adds overall improvements to the game’s realism.
I agree that it’s visually underwhelming though. I wonder if the so-called gameplay mechanic improvements are actually that worthwhile… I was one of the few that actually liked AC:3. It’s probably the only other character/story I felt SOME emotional investment in apart from Ezio in AC:2. I enjoyed the other two Ezio games, but not for emotional/story-driven reasons like AC:2 and AC:3
Yeah, adds lots of realism…like in Deus Ex Human Revolution…
Haha Human Revolution was the worse so called remaster of all time.
Dude you are reaching and just out of bounds, Toussaint REALLY? TOUSSAINT was no filter, it was bloom heavy yes, but I wouldn’t call that filter. You need to go check your eyes and don’t utter The Witcher in the same sentence as ASsCreed dude.
I would normally prefer to have a constructive argument with you about it where we justify our perspectives, but considering this conversation has started out with you assuming that I’m handicapped just because I disagree with you, I have little hope that any further conversation will be productive
you wrote all of that essay just to say you’re offended, nice.
Offended? No, not in the least. Just unenthused about continuing a conversation with you. I can’t imagine how poor your attention span must be if you think that a single, multi-clausal sentence constitutes an essay.
must be midterms again
I dropped out of college. I couldn’t stand the Marxist propaganda and I was finding work in my field already without the degree.
I hear ya. Every class I have this year has not so subtle marxism.
The problem with that is that it seems to be in the curriculum in every class OTHER than history and economics. How that $h1t belongs in a computer science or differential equations class is beyond me….
Yes it was a filter which was easily removed with mods.
Have you even played b&w or is your monitor broken?
I did play Blood and Wine and loved it. I think it looked fantastic, apart from the the yellow/greenish tint across the entire region. I used the clear lighting mod and enjoyed it immensely.
I’m not saying that Assassin’s Creed competes with The Witcher 3. I was simply comparing the yellow filter that was mentioned to the one in Blood and Wine.
My monitor works perfectly fine, and is probably much nicer than yours.
Now this is just unfair, that’s not all they did, I’m sure they made the performance much worse too, and added tons of DRM.
If you couldn’t see the video either, here is the same video.

Well, it does look a lot better with more shadows, improved lighting, bloom around flames, etc. But, I’m not sure this justifies another playthrough.
Also it has the worst ending!! After so much build up they blew away the ending.
Poor Desmond:(
I was sad to see the end of Desmond, but I really didn’t find it to be a badly written ending. You really felt the buildup throughout the whole game of Desmond’s destiny, and it did have impact at the end as a result.
It’s volumes better than the abysmal story-telling that followed in every game after Black Flag. Even in Black Flag, the present day was almost painful from how boring and inconsequential it was.
Agree.
>Even in Black Flag, the present day was almost painful from how boring and inconsequential it was.
This was the case in all AC games, especially 2 and Brotherhood. The present day stuff was unneeded baggage in the first game already and it just got worse and worse.
What is it with big publishers, and being colossally underwhelming these days? That looks pathetic to be called a remaster
Well you see, remastering means you are taking the master version of the assets before they were optimized for last gen and optimizing them for this gen with maybe higher textures and models if those are still available. If possible they port it over to their latest engine. Don’t confuse remaster with remake.
The Golden Age of Gaming where companies had incredible passion in true competition with one another to create the best quality and innovation they could with all the resources available are long gone. Figuring out the best wallet siphoning scam we will tolerate by stealing our data and pushing out anything that can be shat at low investments while charging high prices is the new business model for this gen. Even better for them if they can hamfist overpriced microtransactions somehow.
And famous “Boston 20 fps” bug included too :D?
Knowing Ubi it’s very possible 😀
——————————————————————————————————————————
Back in the days it was a big problem, UbiFlop was blaming AMD but in the end it was Ubi fault what’s more crazy, slower Nvidia cards than AMD were much much faster in this game.
My GTX 460 had very big lead over to my HD5870 and no “Boston 20 fps bug”.
Both were using the same CPU, and settings.
If you take a closer look of the game files and code you se a lot of Nvidia garbage, code, .dlls and all trash like this 😉
oof how can you even call this a remaster after Resident Evil 2?
well you see, RE2 is a REMAKE not a REMASTER, remastering means you are taking the master version of the assets before they were optimized for last gen and optimizing them for this gen with maybe higher textures and models if those are still available. If possible they port it over to their latest engine. Don’t let some of these illiterate publishers like Activision confuse you by calling MWR a remaster when indeed its a remake. All of this started with movies and of course games are following suit except they don’t know how to label things.
This might help you understand better: https://nerdburglars.net/remake-reboot-remaster-whats-the-difference/
RE 2 was a remake and not a remaster. I would be happy if they do AC2 remake!!
Well RE2 was from the 90s Playstation era so it can’t be a remaster. LOL
Resi 2 isn’t a remaster, its a remake, remaster is made up word to convince people there is something new.
Remake is a new game, just sharing the name-tittle.
Remaster is a touch up plastic surgery inducing of a “old” release.
Gear of War 1 was a REMAKE. Halo 2 was also a REMAKE
Full remakes dude. Full remakes.
*Looking at RE 2 on PS1 and RE 2 Remake side by side
Yup! nothing new at all 0_0 … ROFL!
Internitz … you never ceases to amaze
UBI who discovers Reshade ???????
Maybe they’ll discover esrgan next!
But why ?
WHERE IS ONE AND TWO
I didn’t ask for this. I didn’t ask for any of this.
39.99$ for this brand new yellow filter or 4.99$ without yellow stuff on steam.
Don’t buy Ubisoft games on Steam. You’ll have to run two launchers just to play one game.
I know, i don’t buy Ubisoft game at all.
Which isn’t a big deal. You people and your Launcherphobia are ridiculous.
A will say though that Uplay has some nice deals on it at the moment. £4.20 for The Division, £16.50 for AC Origins, Farcry 5 for £12.50. Plus you get 20% discount for 100 points.
someone should tell ubishet that a new reshade filter that makes the game look red isn’t what remaster means.
At least i don’t pay again just for some minor cosmetics or weapon set or drachmae or costume…
The enhanced graphics look better but the game content is the same, so if you have the original version, you don’t really need to buy this one
Re-releases, re-releases, re-releases.
Original AC3 on PC was the worst port of the entire saga, buggy mess with speedup issues at 60fps+, a lot of crashes, save corruption, trash KBM controls… It was sh*t on console too with an average of 26 fps at 720p, this remaster can’t be worse.
Despite that yellow p*ss filter, the lighting, textures, foliage, draw distance, fog, seems to be far better than those witnessed in the original 2012 game, we’ll have gameplay rebalance too, no to mention we saw a lot more lazy remasters than this one, and you have AC Liberation tied to the package too, the only downside for me is the Denuvo usage
“Original AC3 on PC was the worst port of the entire saga”
Lol dude. Not even close. AC2 on PC doesn’t look anything better than on consoles, whereas all other AC titles do. Unity is an abomination on PC to this day. Black Flag, even on low, has higher reqs than AC3 for no good reason.
“buggy mess with speedup issues at 60fps+” => This is not a thing.
“a lot of crashes”
This is not a thing.
” trash KBM controls”
Perfect controls, what do you mean, lmao.
“It was sh*t on console too with an average of 26 fps at 720p”
Performance on consoles for games 2012-2014 on last-gen was abysmal however you put it.
AC2 = Except the always online sh*t at launch, it runs great
ACU = Bad port but way more smooth and beautiful than console versions
AC4 = Higher reqs than 3 cause better lighting, bendable foliage, bigger seamless map, better water and effects, better textures, physx support, better AO, better draw distance…… LOL
speedup issues = This is a thing for those who own a 120/144hz monitor
A lot of crashes = definitely a thing
Perfect controls = yeah for a 360 controller
Perf on consoles = I’m with you on this one except that AC3 was still unoptimized as GTA V released a year later and it was better visualy and had solid 30 fps on both PS3 and 360, yes, Ubi are lazy even on console
It’s 2019 and the majority of people still don’t know the difference between Remaster, Remake and Reboot.
“PC digital download”
So basically Ubisoft’s half arsed way of saying “nah, it’s really Epic Store”.
Assassin’s Creed: Milk Run
Will it be free for the owners of the original?
Not sure about that, but owners of ‘Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Season Pass’ will gain access to Assassin’s Creed III Remastered for free at launch, though at this time it is unknown whether or not they will also gain access to Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered as well.
