Apex Legends had a successful launch as it reached more than 2.5 million players in just a day

During its latest investor call, Electronic Arts revealed that Apex Legends had reached over 2.5 million unique players. Respawn’s battle royale title was able to reach 1 million players in just 8 hours so I think it is safe to say that this was a successful launch.

Apex Legends came out of nowhere and while there are some minor optimization issues, it’s one of the most stable release we’ve seen for a multiplayer title. We did not experience any connection issues and – with the exception of an NVIDIA DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error that occurs in the latest drivers – it works without issues.

According to Electronic Arts, the game has reached a peak of over 600K concurrent players, meaning that gamers can immediately find a server and play the game.

It will be interesting to see whether this success will continue later this month, whether Apex Legends will be able to top 5 million players by the end of February, and whether the number of concurrent players will be further increased!

  1. Nobody said entertaining the simple minded public wasn’t easy. Just look at the top selling movies and games. Food for the brain dead, and this is no exception.

    1. Premature dismissal. I watched hours of gameplay yesterday and there’s a fair amount of brains involved in playing this game. it’s far more cerebral than the other BRs and those were already not totally braindead either. I don’t play BR games but the old guard’s negativity (of which I am a part of!) against them is honestly unwarranted when applied to the genre in itself. individual games have their flaws but the basic concept is literally a spin on arena FPS deathmatch. BRs might mature into something very much worth my time if they become more like Apex and less like PUBG over time. I might even try Apex myself at some point.

    2. So judgy.
Good thing people will enjoy what they like regardless.
I quite enjoyed the game, despite normally liking the more complex stuff, and generally not being too into shooters in the first place.

    3. By all means enlighten me.
what should they be doing/what’s up to your standard? what is it that you think is “great stuff”… ?

Dudebro Zero: “I watched hours of gameplay yesterday”

    1. Same. I dabbled in PUBG and Fortnite but never actually enjoyed them that much. This feels different. I’m kinda addicted.

    2. The focus on squads is definitely a big plus, though it’s likely not enough to sway me personally. What I find really interesting is that they’ve promised more game modes in the future.

It’s kinda ironic that all I want is Respawn to give me something with respawns.

      1. You can respawn, with a little help from your team. To me, that’s the real incentive that will get people to stay in a group.

        1. Yep — that feature alone is why I’ll give the game a chance. Definitely prefer traditional respawning though; could never get into Counter-Strike for the same reason.

        1. Do you believe that this game is technology better that Quake 3? Also cant miss something you have never experienced before so you argument isnt valid.

          1. not better than Quake 3 doesn’t mean sh*t.

Most of the people who tried it are not saying it’s sh*t and we all know what sh*t is so yeah have fun with Quake 3

        2. How’s not playing a dumb battle royale a loss?

Yes I’m still enjoying Quake 3/Live and Unreal Tournament games.

    1. Did you play it ?
Honestly, if you did and you have negative feelings about it, I’d like to hear your assessment.

          1. You dont need to experience this trash to know its a trash . You try every EA Game to see its good?
Or you have half of a brain cell to know its trash even before its out
This is a battle royale + skills .
            Norhing new.
They coud work in titanfall 3 what had a good SP short story and a ok MP.
But noooooo battle royale is the new hotness

          2. I lost brain cells seeing (not reading) your reply.
            Stop trying to articulate anything.
BR is not new. And you suck. Correlation confirmed.

          3. BR is not new .
Yeah deathmatch was here for at least 20 years ..
            *Stop trying to articulate anything.*
Yeah. GJ telling this random guy on the internet who never lernd english in school and its his 3 language how bad his english is GG man GG

  2. This is good news indeed?
    respawn deserves this success.

they didn’t quite find it with Titanfall, Titanfall 2 everyone agreed was a great game, but again no matter how much positive word-of-mouth, it just didn’t have the sales numbers and catch on.

granted this is a free-to-play title,
but I’m hearing nothing but positive.

my son was on it for about 3 hours and he’s huge on pubg, doesn’t particularly care for fortnite, and he said it’s different, it’s solid, it’s smooth, and it’s really really fun,so kudos to respawn entertainment ?congratulations guys.
I hope it turns out to be a huge winner for them.

      Ehm this is free
      Ehm its the first day
Ehm its a 0 effort BR game?

      Hello?

How mutch they pay you to promote this garbage

      1. Ehm, how do your words taste?

Ehm, it being a free game is part of the point, $0 entry…

        Ehm, read the reviews…

  3. So, we have pretty much confirmation right now that Anthem’s demo numbers were awful. EA are happy to report these numbers but are terrified to reveal how many actual people downloaded and played Anthem’s open demo/beta. They must have been embarrassing numbers lol.
