AMD has just released a new driver for its graphics cards. The AMD Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 driver offers optimal performance in Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Also, as we’ve reported, this driver enables AFMF.
The AMD Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 driver also brings support for AMD Video Upscaling. AMD Video Upscaling is an advanced video upscale algorithm to improve video playback image quality for AMD Radeon RX 7000 desktop series GPUs. AVU currently supports DX11 applications such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Media Player.
And that’s not all. The red team has updated Content Adaptive Machine Learning (CAML) text detection to support up to 4K gaming for even greater clarity. Additionally, AMD made additional optimizations to various encoding support within AMD Software including AVC, HEVC and AV1 codecs to improve video encode quality.
Regarding gaming, this driver also brings fixes to various games. For instance, it fixes some black artifacts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. It also resolves the black texture flickering in Starfield that could occur on some AMD GPUs. AMD also claims that this driver will reduce the stutters in Warframe when loading into a new area or starting a mission.
You can go ahead and download the AMD Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 driver from this link. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

What to Know
- AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF)
- AFMF can be enabled for any DirectX® 11 and 12 title using HYPR-RX.
- AFMF may introduce additional latency to games and may not offer the optimal experience for fast-paced competitive titles. AFMF is recommended to be combined with AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag to reduce in-game latency while maintaining a minimum in-game fps of 60.
- Due to the potential latency impact of AFMF, it must be manually enabled in the per-game settings for certain fast-paced competitive titles, even if AFMF was already enabled globally. Gamers are free to enable AFMF in these titles based on their preference and gameplay style, however, they may not experience optimal performance – specifically at lower frame rates.
- AFMF may be enabled or disabled on the fly using the default hotkey of Alt-Shift-G.
- AFMF currently requires the game to be played in fullscreen mode with VSYNC disabled.
- For better compatibility with borderless-fullscreen titles, Windows 11 users can enable “Optimizations for windowed games”.
- For a better visual experience, AFMF is recommended to be used with variable refresh rate enabled.
- Users can check AFMF’s frame generation status using AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™’s in-game overlay.
- AFMF adds frame generation technology to boost FPS outside the game’s engine. Users can use AMD Software Performance Metrics Overlay to see the resulting FPS.
- Support for third-party performance monitoring tools is not available at this moment.
- For systems setup using Hybrid Graphics (such as laptops featuring an integrated and discrete GPU), AFMF must be supported on the displaying GPU to be activated.
- Stay tuned for future enhancements and innovations coming to HYPR-RX with AFMF, focusing on elevating image quality, smoothness, and latency. Enjoy gaming with HYPR-RX.
AMD Video Upscaling
- AMD Video Upscaling can be enabled for most DirectX 11 applications to improve image quality. However, certain applications such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge may require an additional step to activate AMD Video Upscaling.
- For Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, ‘Media Foundation for Clear’ must be enabled. This setting can be configured in the browser settings accessed through chrome://flags/ or edge://flags/.
- Users have the flexibility to adjust the level of sharpness added by AMD Video Upscaling using the slider located within the Graphics tab.
- AMD Technical Preview Driver
- Users had the opportunity to get an early look of AFMF through the AMD Technical Preview Drivers and provide their feedback to build and refine the feature. The feedback received through our online communities and AMD Bug Report Tool helped create a more stable experience for AFMF in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1.

This are the worst AMD drivers I been graced with the last decade, even just browsing on Edge I getting micro-stutter, and all the games are running much worse.
I’m surprised the drivers are not even crashing, having a look on reddit, I’m grateful I’m not the only one reporting this crap.
I must question where is AMD QA Team, cause this crap would never pass any sort of internal testing.
Thanks but no thanks AMD, going back to December drivers.
That’s why I sold my amd rx 6000 and switched to rtx 4000.
On Windows 10 OS, even watching 60 fps videos in firefox browser was a micro-stutterous mess.
Had a noticeable driver crashes a week. DDU + safe mode + new installation didn’t help.
HDR on my Samsung S95C didn’t work properly either.
The grapics card performance on somewhat older DX 11, 10 and 9 games is way inferior to nvidia too. I get so much more frames on the rtx 4090 on 4K-UHD; much more than the 70 – 100 % in benchmarks, say.
The performance, features, power/effiency etc. of nvidia rtx 4000 is on another level also. No comparison in any way.
This clearly shows a lack of money on sides of amd, and superior experience of the employee on that of nvidia.
You pay more with nvidia, you get much much more in return.
Your comment makes no sense at all, AMD has optimized their drivers for DirectX11 years ago, and performs the same if not better than NVidia.
As for the driver issues, I suggest you head over to NVidia reddit, and look at the topic of the latest driver, that was released at the same time as AMD.
Not only is everyone facing the same issues as AMD, but their drivers are crashing and not recovering, triggering a BSOD (so is even worse…).
I not interested at all in fanboy noise, I’m interested in facts, so thank you but no thank you for your input.
Makes no sense to you, makes every sense to me. 😉
Optimized DX11? Yeh, maybe for some newer games.
Go buy yourself a rtx 4090 and compare it to a rx 6800 series card, maybe even a rx 7900 (xt). You will see that with lots of games before < 2019 the rtx 4090 gives way more performance than any mainstream reviewer benchmarks says.
And ye, I had tried the miraculous two amd drivers from 2023 which upped DX 11 performance by enabling some "levers" which were slept on all these years.
Reddit? A centralized & controlled business website made for social engineering and brainwashing?
Well, wherever you prefer to get your information from lol
No, haven't had a single bsod for 10 months with the nvidia drivers on Win 10/11 OS. Gnu/Linux performance su.cks though.
"Your mileage may wary" do they say.
Fanboy noise. You stuck with amd and haven't tried any rtx 4000 card this series?
Yep, you sound like a true fanboy too me, haven't tried the other product, but calling others who have (and now enjoy and report about their superior experience) fanboys.
Enjoying all that arguably superior experience, ranging from machine learning capabilities for video/image/training, tensorRT/cuda, streaming, image reconstruction (Dlss 2), frame generation, power/efficiency etc. all superior.
I'm interested in facts, so thank you but no thank you for your input.
The fact you comparing a 2000€ card to a 800€ card, says enough.
Your arguments are weak and baseless, please stop wasting my time with fanboy nonsense.
The fact you comparing a 2000€ card (RTX 4090) to 500€ (RX 6800) and 800€ (RX 7900 XT) cards, says enough.
I suggest you check performance between the RX 7900 XTX and the RTX 4080, where NVidia users are paying 200€ premium.
There’s a clear gap in knowledge between the two of us, cause I actually have experience with both brands and hardware in general.
So I would appreciate if you please stop wasting my time with fanboy nonsense.
Bot continuing comparing “rx 7900 xt and rtx 4080 performance”, but then conveniently continues excluding
1) that native resolutions comparisons/benchmarks have become useless for most modern, graphical demanding games since > 2020, since they all support image reconstruction technologies as FSR 2, DLSS 2 or XeSS
2) image reconstruction superiority of DLSS 2, which eventually gives much more frames and higher image quality than any amd rx 6000/7000 graphics card
DLSS 2 performane (1080p input) higher reconstructed 4K-image quality output compared to FSR 2 (quality, 1440p), while providing 50 – 60 % more fps.
Enough said. ignorane is bliss. AMD’s offering are years away from catching up.
3) dlss 3 image reconstruction superiority over FSR 3. AMD’s offering are years away from catching up.
4) ray/patch reconstruction. AMD’s offering are years away from catching up.
5) Rtx 1.5 video super resolution superiority
6) rtx HDR video super resolution#
7) power/efficiency. RTX 4090 at 0.875 – 0.95 V gpu-core is: 300 W (-5 % performance loss compared to 450 watts), 360 watts (same or slightly higher performance than 450 watts mode).
Anything rx 7000 offers doesn’t come close to that efficiency.
8) Tensor RT, CUDA, machine learning. You can’t do that with rx 7000 on that same level
9) video AI-driven rendering interpolation as RIFE. RX 7900 XTX can do 48 fps at 1080p with model 14.4. Rtx 4090 does 48 fps at 4K-UHD.
10) nvenc, streaming, encoding, decoding etc.
The list goes longer, but I stop here.
Yes, that’s were the “200 € premium” are going. In fact, it’s a steal and cheaper than anything rx 7000.
You bot can continue nitpicking choice below rtx 4080, were the intentional vram-gimping of the (relabeled) rtx 4070 (it’s a rtx 4060), rtx 4060 (rtx 4050) comes to play.
Lol hahaha
You have discredited yourself in my eyes when you took the simple talk I started from “superior product and experience”, changed the topic to “reddit and it’s driver bugs”, and now justify that buying decision to “price performance”.
Grow up and stop using silly fighting words as “fanboy nonsense”.
Or let me guess: I’m not talking to a human, but an machine learned bot specifically trained for such nonsense. Ahh yes, same shiet as on wccftech, videocardz etc. were 99 % the comments are bots, used by the owners to generate the illusion of user interaction and generate more clicks.
Goodness gracious. Bot/Human going from “driver bug comparisons” to “experience comparisons”, to now “price-performance comparisons”, all because he has no experience with the superior rtx 4000 products.
Now who’s trying to hardly “justifying his buying decisions” (bot hallucinates) and how often the bot try to change the topic?
I understand bots hallucinating buying 1000 € buying choice of a rx 7900 xtx over a rtx 4080.
Sorry to correct you bot: You objectively hallucinate the inferior choice.
You go from wasting my time with fanboy nonsense, to wasting my time with conspiracy theories, lack of arguments and petty insults, so blocked.
You go from wasting my time with fanboy nonsense, to wasting my time with conspiracy theories, lack of arguments and petty insults, so blocked.
Hey developers: I don’t blame you training/creating that AI-bots for the farce of “user engagement”, and whatever shiet of social engineering, but for fuggen sake, give them more brain.
They don’t even realize that AMD and Nvidia are a fuggen Stackelberg-duopoly and there is no price-performance competition.
Price and products are all illegaly agreed upon for years by the companies execs. It’s all a farce.
It’s the same social engineering – in that case divide and conquer – were people are brainwashed into “two sides”, divided, and then conquered, as seen on all controlled media.
I guess humans are dumber than bots here, not realizing that all are milked with overpriced products, no matter which company you buy from, and that are all rx 7000/rtx 4000 products are in fact relabeled smaller GPU-dies (rtx 4080 AD-104 which is rtx 4070 in fact).
But only real dumb fanboys think their 800/1000 € rx 7900 xt(x) was a better buy than the rtx 4080/4090 which cost 200/600 € more, because ignorance is bliss and buyer-bias means excluding things for convenience/viewpoints reasons.
So here you go bot/human: AMD is not cheaper. AMD cost 20 % less, but offer 50 – 200 % less.
AMDs top-end chips loses to a AD-104 rtx 4070.
You got played like a fiddle, thinking the underdog is the smarter choice.
