Alkahest feature

Alkahest is another indie action adventure RPG that is heavily inspired by Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

A couple of days ago, we informed you about an indie first-person action game that is heavily inspired by Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, called The Nightscarred: Forgotten Gods. And today, we have another similar indie game, called Alkahest.

Developed by Push On, Alkahest is an action adventure RPG that is inspired by Dishonored, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

In this game, you assume the role of the youngest son of a petty lord. You’ll be able to explore castles, forests, villages and other realistic settings. Moreover, according to the devs, you’ll be able to make interesting decisions on your journey.

Push On claims that the game will have branching gameplay options. Additionally, it will a highly interactive and believable world with semi open-world locations.

Players will be able to build their combo and execute it against enemies. As such, they can drop a tree on their head, kick them off a cliff, and set them on fire. Basically, think of it as a new “Dark Messiah of Might and Magic” game.

Instead of magic, Alkahest will feature alchemy, a complex and important game system. Players will follow a recipe or mix gathered ingredients at their own discretion. They will be able to use the substance as a throwable, a weapon oil, plant it into an NPC’s pocket or even drink it themselves. In each scenario, outcomes can be unpredictable.

Although there is no ETA on when the game will come out, Push On shared some preliminary PC requirements.

PC gamers will at least need a 3.0 GHz Quad Core CPU with 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or an AMD Radeon RX 580. The devs recommend using a 3.6 GHz Quad Core CPU with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX or AMD Radeon RX5600.

Enjoy the following gameplay trailer and stay tuned for more!

  1. damn it looks excellent and the requirements are low, also its semi open world which is the best choice. I hope it has climbable rope arrows and freeze spell that are more effective by shooting them into the ground so they can make your enemies slip and fall off a cliff, just like dark messiah.

There is another indie game inspired by dark messiah called sorceress.

  2. Seems more of a choreographed gameplay representation trailer than an actual real time gameplay trailer.
Something like the Killzone 2's 2005 mock gameplay trailer

  3. Another Russian company (this time disguised as shell company in Cyprus) trying to pull-off a The Day Before v2.

and people are still falling for non-gameplay cinematic trailers, that's so funny.

    1. Yeah, when I search "Push On" in google, nothing pops up. I feel like they rushed the trailer this way because of other action game similar to dark messiah getting announced before them (The Nightscarred).

btw, you can also confirm that by all the people sh**ting on the other game being Russian profiles xd. C'mon guys, we're now getting 2 dark messiah like games, why so mad?

I also noticed Alkahest is using Unity, reading their press release. Releasing a game for next gen consoles with Unity will be a wet dream for them.

    2. Right. Because all Russians think alike… Russians have made some good games in the past but they just never had the opportunity like they did with Atomic Heart.

Already assuming that it will turn out like other scams that came before it is a negative mindset. How about just wait until proper gameplay drops and then have an opinion about it? Announcement trailers for the most part are usually pointless when it comes to video games. Trailers in general never tell you the full story, they just give you an idea of what to expect from their product.

  4. Another one? In just 2 days?
Gee, have you noticed that it's often like that?
Things always come in series. lol (or should I say "in packs"?)

Anyway, it's looking good to me.
The video is definitely way too perfectly scripted.
But if the game delivers just 20% of what it promises, it'll be already a great thing in the gaming industry. We need to go back to the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic formula.

  5. Now this is more like it. The first supposedly DMOMM-like game that John has advertised didn't look interesting at all.

With this one I'm genuinely intrigued.

We are players ourselves and believe in quality over quantity. So a big no to a bloated map and dull filler quests.

We strive to create a highly interactive and believable world with semi open-world locations, packed with secrets and adventure. With branching gameplay options, inspired by Dishonored, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, Kingdom Come: Deliverance and other genre-defining games.

It'll be nice for a change if the devs actually keep their promises.

  6. The animations are too good to be true for an indie studio. @KK-0628 might be onto something.

  8. If they can deliver on any of the features showcased here, this could be good. Suspect we'll be disappointed by high expectations though.

  9. This does not look like gameplay. While it may be rendered in-engine, if it is then it's almost certainly just a scripted sequence to show off the game world. That being said, while watching it I couldn't help but feel that I was watching a CGI trailer.

    1. Is obviously bull, but as a showcase of what they are aiming for (and plenty of it we already played on Messiah so is on the reign of doable) is nice.
The whole thing is like a Far Cry cutscene.

        1. Same, this are proof of concept at best and vertical slices pretending to be real gameplay at worst (Ubisoft is the most obvious about it).
But like i said some of the stuff showed for this game already did in Meassiah…with the Source engine of all things.

  10. Sadly this is vaporware. The fake gameplay wouldn't be a killer, at least it proves they can produce the assets including animations needed to make a game like this.
But what kills it is that they used the tag "Open World". Anyone half-way in the know understands that an "open world Dark Messiah" is not a feasible game concept for anyone smaller than Rockstar. A Dark Messiah-like has to be a linear adventure through a dozen or so levels. The original took very experienced developers 3 years to put together, in a time when the assets were all simpler. If Arkane tried to make a Dark Messiah Remake today they themselves would struggle to finish it in 4 years! And some no-name studio wants to do not just that but build a whole open world instead of linear levels, fill it with NPCs and quests and stuff? Laughable. It's just not going to happen.
