Acer reveals its first XV282K KV 28 inch 144Hz 4K IPS gaming Monitor, with support for HDMI 2.1

If you are in the market looking for a high-resolution Gaming Monitor, which also supports high refresh rates, then the Acer’s new XV282K KV 28 inch Monitor might suit your needs. The Acer XV282K KV, which belongs to the ‘Nitro XV2’ series, combines a 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution with 144Hz refresh rate and a number of other attractive features.

This appears to be the first gaming monitor from Acer with HDMI 2.1 support. HDMI 2.1 is a new display standard, and will have a wide adoption rate once RTX Ampere GPUs and RDNA2-based graphics cards, and also next-generation gaming consoles come to the market. This 28-inch 4K panel (3840×2160) with 144 Hz refresh rate was manufactured by Innolux, and carries the label M280DCA AAS (which means Azimuthal Anchoring Switch), and it’s an IPS-like technology from Innolux (a subsidiary of Foxconn and CMI).

The XV282K KV monitor supports Adaptive-Sync as well as AMD FreeSync with a 48-144Hz variable refresh rate, and the usual accompanying LFC support. A 1000:1 static contrast and 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles are specified, whilst 10-bit colour is also supported. A flicker-free WLED backlight is employed, offering a 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 550 cd/m² of typical maximum luminance.

The monitor responds to HDR10 content, offering VESA DisplayHDR 600 support. This allows the generous colour gamut and the 10-bit colour reproduction to be put to good use.

Local luminance pulse of 600 cd/m2 is also expected since this monitor has VESA HDR600 certification. The monitor is equipped with a single DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC support, and two HDMI 2.1 connectors. It also comes with 4 USB 3.0 ports and an audio jack output. The monitor is also equipped with dual 2W speakers.

Further information can be found on this page from Chinese shopping website Taobao. It’s listed there for 8499 Chinese Yuan, which roughly converts to $1248 USD. The seller has started taking pre-orders and the monitor is expected to ship in January 2021.

Thanks PC Monitors.

  1. eh none of this bullshit makes you a better gamer, example before i upgraded to a ryzen i was running an intel core2 quad q8300 and an 8600 gtx with a 60 hz 1080p moniter and this dude was running an i7 4970k and an 1070 gtx with a 1440p 165 hz g sync moniter i played him 1 vs 1 in unreal tournament 2004 and i still schooled his ass.

    js

  2. Yikes that price. Finally upgraded my 1080p monitor to an HP Omen 27 i @ 1440p 165 hz last week. The difference is much better. Can’t wait for 4K 144 hz to be more affordable in the coming years.

    1. Yep, I’m currently searching for a new monitor to play Cyberpunk on (the old 27″ 1080p 60Hz is over). Trying to decide if I should just go with a 32″ 1080p 144 Hz rig and pair it with a 3070, or go the extra $$ and get a 1440p one.

  3. I was running a core2 quad 8gb ddr2, 8600 gts 1080p 60 hz moniter and cheap 20 dollar keyboard and mouse combo, and this one dude was running an i7 4970k,1070 gtx,1440p 165 hz moniter and like an expensive razor kb and mouse set some bs, i still schooled his a*s in unreal tournament 2004 awhile back, none of this bullshit makes you a better player tbh, it’s all in the persons skill tbh.

    1. You sir are a moron. That person enjoyed his gaming experience far more for a long time. No one said anything about skill this is about enjoying singleplayer and multiplayer games. You might be able to beat some pros with a great rig but will not beat them without one.

    2. So why do you waste your time on internet forums? You should have made a fortune as a pro-gamer, lol.

And by the way, you run 8600 GTS recently? Seriously?

  4. Was interested in this until I found out no G-Sync, I will have to sell my speakers too since this one has a speaker so nope for me

  5. Translated into English, it says 28-inch IPS. That’s strange, all IPS (and VA) monitors I know about are 27 inch, only TN monitors are 28 inch.

But then the article says IPS-like, is it some new IPS screen technology?

    Edit.
OK, I checked online, I didn’t even know there were four different variations of IPS panels, including this one. But all of them are at 27 inches.
