Back in May 2019, we informed you about 4A Games working on a brand new triple-A game. Well, it appears that this game is the next part in the Metro series. During THQ Nordic’s investor call, CEO Lars Wingefors, confirmed that the next Metro is under development.
Furthermore, it appears that Dmitry Glukhovsky, author of the Metro novels, will be writing the game’s story. Glukhovsky confirmed this on Instagram, stating that he’s currently working on the story.

I’m pretty sure that all Metro fans will be jumping like little kids right now. On the other hand, and when the next Metro game releases, we can be certain that it will be another Epic Games Store exclusive.
Deep Silver has stated that the game sold well on Epic’s platform, and that it was satisfied with its PC sales. As such, it’s almost certain that the next Metro game will follow the same exact plan.
Moreover, we can safely assume that this new Metro game will be coming on next-gen platforms. After all, the game is in a very early stage right now. As such, don’t expect to be playing it anytime soon. My guess is that we’re looking at a 2021 or 2022 release (at best).

Enough of Metro, go make something else now.
A new game store, we’d need that.
Metro Last Light: Pushing DX9 and X360/PS3 to breaking limits
Metro Exodus: Pushing DX11 and X1/PS4 to breaking limits
Can’t wait what next Metro does: Really push DX12 to new heights.
And ís? a boring 6/10 game
The next game will pust the devs to bankruptcy
X1 uses DX12.
It’s still a DX11 game at its core.
No it’s not. https://twistedvoxel.com/metro-devs-dx12-api-xbox-one/
“Some performance boosts” does not make it a DX12 game built from the ground up. Hell, it’s still available in DX11 on PC.
Will Epic still be dishing out that doe for exclusives or will they have had established themselves by then and it wont be necessary?
How long will can they continue to make developers whole before their games even release?
even if they already established themselves they probably will still going to use other excuse to keep the exclusive thing. for example they will not going to stop to do it until valve revise their 30% cut for themselves. though truth to be told i don’t hate EGS at all.
I payed $5 to play metro exodus on pc game pass and couldn’t even get half way… It’s the worst metro game by far. My interest in these games are diminished. Have fun on Epic s### store. meh
I paid $0 to play Metro Exodus courtesy of CPY whereby I also gave up on playing it due to how utterly boring the game was. As you say, it’s by far the worst Metro game.
I also payed $0 when I bought my EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA, and I’ve played through it three times now because it’s far from boring, or the worst Metro.
better Metro ever played for me…
What is this, the new COD now?!
LOL 🙂 , they just started working on the new story(this is considered an initial stage in such a project) it will probably take 3 – 4 years till it comes out.
My guess is we will be lucky if we see it in three years time at the minimum / best case scenario and I doubt that. Put it this way Exodus took 6 years, these games take a long time to make since they are quality just like the Witcher series.
5*. Most of 2013-2014 was focused on LL patches, DLC and the Redux games.
Exactly, so really your looking at 4 – 5 if we are really lucky. A S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and CHERNOBYLITE release may be the only factors to juice up the release date but honestly I don’t really think it matters. Metro is not COD or Assassin’s Creed, it’s done when it’s done.
It will be interesting to see how S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and CHERNOBYLITE(getting both btw m/) turn out/do before Metro’s next release.
I pre-ordered Exodus on Steam so I have already been playing it for a while and already know I will be getting the next one when it’s ready(unless something is off).
Probably going to be the follow up to Exodus, or if it’s not about the follow up to Exodus it will probably be a different character somewhere outside the Metro. That would be pretty cool.
Hunter
/yawn That’s nice.
Excellent!
They can shove it up their bungholes. No, first up Sweeney’s bunghole, then up Glukhovsky’s throat.
At this point just wait for stalker 2…
Loved it (on steam). Will get it on steam if it ever goes there.
Fuq off 4A Games, no one wants to wait another year to play your next Metro game. Fuq you and everybody in your house. And fuq your dog too…. You and your Fuqing exclusives. Fuq Y’all!!!
Edit: it appears that it’s steam they hate. This is personal because they released the game on the PC Microsoft store not too long ago. So deep Silver all of a sudden has a hate for steam. I’m no big fan of steam but If i was steam I’d start taking this Schitt personally and remove deep silvers games from the platform. Make this be a rule, any publisher that decides to do one off exclusive deals are banned from the steam storefront for life. What they are doing is not competition, it’s personal.
Good thing your hot headed a*s isn’t in charge of Steam; we’d eventually run out of publishers.
Yes i can be a bit of a hot head and it takes disloyalty to trigger it. I hate liars and disloyal individuals, they are scum of the earth and if i had it my way, punishable by death. I’m not saying i’m right or reasonable just my belief. disloyalty is the worse, especially when it becomes personal.
And it would be a great thing.
“the developers who only work on Metro are working on another Metro to the surprise of literally no one”
No thanks,Bro..
