Command and Conquer classic feature

You can now play C&C: Tiberian Dawn’s campaign in co-op

Command and Conquer fans, here is something special for you today. The Dawn of the Tiberium Age Team has released a new version of Dawn of the Tiberium Age that allows you to play the single-player campaigns of Tiberian Dawn in co-op.

For those who didn’t know, Dawn of the Tiberium Age is a free standalone mod that mixes together two classic games: Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert. It runs on a special version of the Tiberian Sun game engine. You can play as all four main teams – GDI, Nod, Allies, and Soviets – with smooth, well-balanced gameplay. The mod lets you combine these teams however you want in tons of new multiplayer maps. You can also try out lots of brand-new missions on your own.

Back in 2023, the team released a version of the mod that let you play the GDI campaign with a friend in co-op. Now, two years later, a new update lets you play the Nod campaign in co-op too. This means you can now play the entire Tiberian Dawn story with a friend.

Since this is a standalone mod, it does not require the actual game. All you have to do is download the mod from this link, and you are good to go. I don’t believe EA will shut it down. Nevertheless, I suggest downloading it while you still can. You never know what may happen once, and if the mod goes viral.

This latest version of Dawn of the Tiberium Age also contains the Shadow Reprisal Nod mission. This is a mission that was first teased during ModDB’s Mod of the Year contest in 2016.

And that’s not all. The team has added some new stuff to the mod. For instance, the Soviets now have their own radar dome. On the other hand, the Allies keep the classic RA1 model. Nod’s Torpedo Boat also got a facelift.

The team has also updated its client with scaling options for the CnC-DDRAW and DDrawCompat renderers. This will give users of high-resolution monitors an easy way to upscale the game while keeping it running at their native display resolution. This is a pretty cool QoL improvement. So, kudos to them for introducing it.

Overall, this is an awesome free mod that every Command & Conquer fan should check out. Since EA isn’t making any new C&C games right now, this might be the closest thing to a “new” one you can play in 2025. So, don’t sleep on it.

Have fun!

  1. Article is incorrect! It's not "Tiberian Sun" campaign in co-op. It's "Tiberian Dawn", aka first Command & Conquer from 1995.

    1. i want a remaster for tiberian sun so much. I need to zoom in, they released the source code for every game apart from that and red alert 2, so i guess remaster incoming.

    1. It’s a standalone mod. You only download the mod and that’s it. It does not require the original game.

  2. You might want to check out OpenRA too. An open source modern reimplementation of Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert and Dune 2000. With a modern UI and rebalancing so factions are fairly balanced.

  3. Going for the CPU command center is the only viable tactic in the first C&C games, because the CPU cheats and just keeps rebuilding stuff in the same place.
The CPU doesn't care about things like build range, building time and money.

If there was a mod that made the CPU more fair the games would be way more fun.
