Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones gets an unofficial patch that completely fixes its mouse camera issues

Modder ‘Dawid Freeman’ has released a must-have unofficial patch for Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. This patch completely fixes the broken mouse camera look, implements proper 4xMSAA support, and restores the game’s gore effects.

Going into more details, this unofficial patch removes the annoying auto-centering of the camera in static cameras and when you run. Moreover, it adds support for diagonal camera movement, and completely removes the mouse deadzones. As a result of these changes, the game now feels great when using a mouse.

It’s also worth noting that the game now supports DX11. As such, PC gamers can now use Reshade in order to further enhance the game’s graphics.

Overall, this is a must-have unofficial patch for those that want to replay this old Prince of Persia game. You can download the patch from here.

Have fun!

  1. This is what I love about DSOG. It brings little but essential things to news in gaming that no one otherwise. Only og players will feel the joy. Going to play it again. Now if only we get Rex-HD project this year I could enjoy dino crisis 2 in full fidelity.

    1. What do you mean ruin it soon?

This great trilogy ended in 2005.

Last 2 games were random blips, newest one from 2010. Pfft.

  2. Man I really want Remake of 1st Three game but at this point I’m scared to ask cuz the POP1 remake doesn’t looking good

  3. “It’s also worth noting that the game now supports DX11. As such, PC gamers can now use Reshade in order to further enhance the game’s graphics”
You can use Reshade on DX9 games

  4. These issues are still persistent on pc ports. Especially when games are designed for consoles.

  5. The game doesn’t “now support DX11”. The mod just bundles in DgVodoo. You can choose DX12 Feature Level 12_0 in DgVodoo.

Nontheless, the best visuals and overall textures for Warrior Within and Two Thrones are still found on PS2, so PCSX2 with 60 fps and widescreen patches are the definitive way to play these games.

    1. seriously stfu, PC version of POP games always looked better then the Ps2 versions. PC versions by default have larger draw distance of objects compared to ps2 version.

    2. I bet 90% pc gamers don’t even know about DGvoodo2 wrapper that can convert dx6,dx7, Dx8 and Dx9 games into Dx11 api or 12 api but 12 is in beta and not recommended for now

      1. That’s why even the article don’t mention it, there’s a huge difference between running natively on DX11 and running through a wrapper.
What i love the most about dgVoodoo is how you can use it to render a certain resolution while keeping the HUD at the good size, most old games would have their HUD go extremely small at high res, you can make the game run at 720p for example with the correct HUD size and use dgVoodoo to render 1080 or 4K without touching HUD elements

        1. yup DGvoodo2 is amazing piece of software, specially for intel arc gpu’s, most people use DXVK to convert Dx9 games to vulkan which is good for later 7th gen dx9 games like GTA IV and prototype or fallout 3 or new vegas which are single threaded games but for older dx9 games Dgvoodo2 works even better then DXVK.

    3. PC version is actually visually superior to the PS2 version. Even texture quality is better, many objects in distance are visible on PC but not on PS2.

      1. Factually incorrect. While the Prince himself is higher rez in WW and especially Two Thrones, most other textures in the games are higher rez on PS2.

That’s not the main thing tho. PS2 has WAAAY better lighting for these games. Bloom and per vertex lighting is generally toned down on other platforms vs PS2. WW even has a metalic like shader for the Prince’s costume.

        1. Wrong actually. There are no better textures or lighting on the ps2 version vs the pc version, and they are practically the same across all platforms, with PC having the best and most detailed textures throughout, despite it being a port.

The PS2 version is the only version that uses a “heatwave effect”, which is used for refracting nearby visuals. There’s no metallic shader for the prince, and if there was you could just get that same effect with a reshade on PC.

If you also have an old windows xp/7 PC lying around that supports EAX, you could get better sound on the PC version without any compatibility issues caused by modern hardware, or use DSOAL + OpenAL for EAX.

          1. Boot up the game in 4K on PC and PCSX2 and you’ll see what I’m talking about

There’s no metallic shader for the prince, and it’s the same on both platforms. You could get more or better post processing effects with reshade on PC.

If you also have an old windows xp/7 PC lying around that supports EAX, you could get better sound on the PC version without any compatibility issues caused by modern hardware, or use DSOAL + OpenAL for EAX.

        3. Ps2 always had a lead when it comes to rendering effects like motion blur, bloom, depth of field etc but due to limited memory bandwith the textures and resolution was very low. PC and the original xbox had advantage of increased memory bandwidth so resolution, textures, anistropic, draw distances were higher on xbox and PC compared to ps2 but ps2 can produce more effects compared to pc of that time and original xbox. It wasn’t until original f.e.a.r released on PC that we were starting to see these effects on PC and F.E.A.R was demanding as hell at that time.

  6. Still waiting for a patch that fixes some missing songs on Warrior Within, if you love heavy metal the PS2 and PS3 versions are the best versions to play.

    1. It’s not missing songs, as much as missing some ambient music. I was taken by surprise when I played WW on PCSX2.

      1. There’s sped up cutscenes on PC, which also appear in the gamecube and psp version, but not PS2 or xbox.

PS2 and xbox are the only versions that have fully functioning cutscenes/FMV’s. Not sure about any missing music on PC.

There are some unused tracks in the game that are only used in the two og xbox live dlc maps though.

PC version has best sound with EAX.

  7. after all those years, i cant believe it, also what i wouldnt give for a gave like this in this woke open world looter shooter grindfest era.
