VGames has released a brand new version of Duke Nukem 3D Savior of Babes. Version 0.98 brings a lot of tweaks, fixes and improvements. So, let’s dive in and see what is in store for all Duke Nukem 3D fans.
Duke Nukem 3D: Savior of Babes is a new version of the classic PC game. As the modder has noted, it’s rebuilt as a crazy, action-packed power fantasy using Eduke32. In this mod, Duke Nukem is stronger and tougher than ever. Duke will now have tons of upgrades, powerful weapons, amazing power-ups, and many other cool stuff.
Version 0.98 includes big improvements to help the game run smoother. It reduces frame rate problems by optimizing the effects for burning and poisoned enemies. It also adds a system that loads upscaled sprites and textures in advance to avoid slowing down the game. On top of that, it makes gibs and debris run better in certain parts of the E5L3 map.
The new version also brings some cool updates. It now includes more detailed textures on general gibs and adds bloody details to gibs from specific enemies. It also makes more objects destructible, meaning you can break or destroy more things in the game. And thatโs not all. Version 0.98 also improves the look of some missing Duke Burger sprites by upscaling them. Plus, it adds extra explosion effects to several weapons like the shrinker, railgun, new beast drone, Megabrain, and the Almighty Lance.
In short, this new version of Duke Nukem 3D Savior of Babes is a must-play for all DN3D fans. The complete changelog is HUGE, so I won’t include it below. You can find all of its changes though on ModDB, from where you can also download it.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

any custom campaigns for this game? I am tired of playing the main campaign over and over.
AMC Squad ?
obviously i mean vanilla to use with mods.
ion fury
lmao, for real though duke 3d didnt get much custom campaigns.
There were some decent Russian mods for it back then but I don’t remember the name.
Looks awesome. I've recently finished boltgun and it was one the best games I've played in recent memory. Glad boomer shooters are getting a resurgence.
What are boomer shooters though?
Early to mid 90s FPS, right?
Cos I sure don't see a resurgence at all of the LATE 90s FPS, which had a very different gameplay. (Compare Doom and Kingpin…)
Personally, even if there are a few exceptions (Cultic, Fallen Aces), I'm still waiting for a true resurgence of the good old story-driven 90s-early 2000s FPS with complex level design and even some immersive sim elements.
I just don't see it so far.
Any game similar to No One Lives Forever in the past 5 years?
Looks rad as hell.
Really awesome mod overall! the weapons kicks alien azz! splendid!
Meh… It's more or less the same concept of Brutal Doom.
WAY more enemies, huge guns, and loooooots of gore.
Why do modders always love to add as much gore as possible?
Do they consider that it's the most fun part of such games?
That's an extremely childish and immature choice.
I was already tired of gore in the early 90s.
And who said that it was fun to stay in the same area to shoot waves and waves of enemies during 10 minutes?
Better work on the level design instead, and add multiple paths, but well, it's quite harder than adding blood and guts textures, huh?
Yeah yeah I know, this is not that kind of game. I'd better stick to immersive sims.
I guess that I'm too old for such childish mods now.
Am I in the minority here, thinking that old FPS had the best flow, with not a lot of enemies, some interactions, and lots of exploration?
Half-Life is one of the most extreme examples of that, with some levels being 80% exploration. (ok, maybe too much?)
I feel like these mods (especially for Doom and Duke Nukem) focus EXCLUSIVELY on the shooting part.
Anyway… End of rant.
I'm going to play the new update of Fallen Aces instead.
I fully agree with you. So many modders don't understand good game design. All they know is "Uhhh… more blood… good!". Like you said, it's very childish.
I will say, as someone that didn't really play much Doom back when it was out (my parents didn't like the whole Hell thing, so I wasn't allowed to buy Doom) coming to that series this year, and playing it all in VR, Brutal Doom was fun, and the extra gore really added to the fun of it. But it wasn't necessary to enjoy the game.
