Clair Obscur Expedition 33 feature-4

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 finally gets a minimap, thanks to a mod

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the best games of 2025. However, for some weird reason, the game did not have a minimap. I don’t know why the devs did not include one, as it may put off a number of players. Thankfully, there is a mod that attempts to address this issue.

Created by paboyafx, this mod adds a functional in-game minimap. Once you have installed it, you can press M to show or hide the minimap while playing the game. You can also press “Num -” to zoom out and “Num +” to zoom in. Zoom multiplier is limited to 0.25X to 3X.

And that’s that. This is a great QoL improvement. So, I highly recommend using this custom minimap. From what I know, it’s compatible with the latest game version. So, you won’t likely encounter any issues.

There are two simple ways to install the mod. You can use Mod Loader or UE4SS Experimental. Both methods are explained on the NexusMods page, where you can also download it. At the end of the article, you can also find a video for it. This video showcases the mod in action. So, be sure to watch it as it can give you an idea of what you can expect from it.

Speaking of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, here are some other mods for it. ClairObscurFix Mod is a must-have mod. At least in my opinion. This mod will remove the 30FPS cap from the in-game cut-scenes. Moreover, it will remove the sharpening filter that the devs have used. It will also skip intro logos, and it will reduce letterboxing/pillarboxing in cutscenes.

Another amazing mod is this one, which allows you to play in co-op. With this mod, up to 4 players can team up and fight together. Each player controls their own character and has to dodge and block attacks on their own, even during big group battles. So yes, this is a real co-op mode.

Then we have this mod that improves its Lumen/Ray Tracing effects. You should use this mod only if you own a high-end GPU. Moreover, it may not be compatible with the Ultra+ Mod. In my opinion, it’s not a must-have mod like the ClairObscurFix Mod.

You can also download a DLSS 4 Frame Gen Mod. Sadly, though, this mod is put behind a Patreon wall. As of right now, I haven’t seen a free DLSS 4 Frame Gen Mod. So, that’s kind of a bummer. Let’s at least hope that the devs will add official support for Frame Gen via a future update.

Finally, we have the Ultra+ Graphics Mod. This mod aims to improve the game’s graphics by tweaking its settings beyond its in-game values. It improves lighting, reflections, and shadows. It also fixes problems like textures loading slowly, weird pop-in effects, and ghosting. So, if you own a high-end GPU, you can download it and give it a go.

Have fun!

  1. I dislike minimap-anything because it's a distraction as it takes away from what's going on in front of you.

    1. This is true. Most of the games that are considered the most immersive are the ones that strip all HUD from the game and it still being perfect playable. Mini-map especially is something that can be quite distracting, is fairly common that people stop looking at the center of the screen and start walking directly trough the mini-map.

The best examples of mini-map is when it's done in the game as a physical map, Metro Exodus is a great example of this.

  2. I finished this game a 100% and you really don't need a minimap but options are always good I guess

    1. Same here. It certainly would've saved a few hours in total when I went back to revisit areas that I didn't fully explore.

  3. John, the lack of minimap was never an "issue", as you put it. Sometimes games are meant to be explored, where the player has to actually think about the surroundings and not just go from one collectible to the next. I think this is one of those games.

Obviously, some games NEED a minimap, and not just for GenZ (I don't want to think for myself) möngoloids.

  4. I'm of the camp where good board design defeats the necessity of a map and some of the areas/zones just don't meet that requirement imo. The game is definitely enjoyable without it but I think for a game with so many unique discoverables, a mini-map or area checklist could make sense to include.
