Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater feature-3

Here’s how you can enable Hardware Lumen Ray Tracing, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

A few days ago, we shared a mod that lets you unlock the framerate in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. And now, we’ve got some tweaks that let you turn on Hardware Lumen Ray Tracing, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation. These options should have been in the game’s settings. After all, this is an 80-euro game. But hey, at least there’s now a way to enable them.

Let’s start with Hardware Lumen Ray Tracing. Turning this on gives you better shadows, lighting, and ambient effects. But be warned. Hardware Lumen will lower performance, so only use it if you have a strong GPU.

To turn it on, go to the Engine.ini file found here:
AppData\Local\MGSDelta\Saved\Config\Windows . Once inside, look for the [SystemSettings] section and add these commands.

r.Lumen.HardwareRayTracing=1
r.Lumen.Reflections.HardwareRayTracing=1
r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.HardwareRayTracing=1
r.LumenScene.DirectLighting.HardwareRayTracing=1

To enable DLSS Frame Gen, you’ll have to add these commands. The first one enables DLSS Frame Gen. The second enables Reflex, and the third sets the mode for Reflex. The fourth and fifth are optional commands, aiming to reduce the visual artifacts of DLSS Frame Gen.

r.Streamline.DLSSG.Enable=1
t.Streamline.Reflex.Enable=1
t.Streamline.Reflex.Mode=1
r.Streamline.DilateMotionVectors=1
r.NGX.DLSS.AutoExposure=1

For our AMD fans, you can enable FSR 3.1 Frame Gen. All you have to do is the “r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1” command. And that’s it.

You can also enable Ray Reconstruction, which can improve the quality of reflections. You can do this by using the “r.NGX.DLSS.denoisermode=1” command. Needless to say that this will also bring a performance hit. So, as with Hardware Lumen, you should use it only if you have a high-end NVIDIA GPU.

And there you have it. With these tweaks, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater can look even better on PC. The ability to also use Frame Gen will be crucial for enabling these GPU-heavy features. As I’ve said, these features should have been supported via the in-game settings. So, let’s hope the devs will add them via a post-launch update.

Before closing, if anyone has issues with the Framerate Unlock mod I shared, I recommend switching to the latest version of MGSDeltaFix.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. I've looked high and low for this INI file and can't find it under the path advised. I'm getting seriously peeved at playing a so called remake that plays worse than the original…

    1. Skill issue, appdata is a hidden folder in "C:Users<YourUserNameHere"
      Easiest way is to get there is to simply copy paste this into your Explorer address bar:
      %localappdata%MGSDeltaSavedConfigWindows

      1. Skill issue

        Some games put their settings files in appdata, some in global folders like program files. Some games use ini files. Some use .xml files. Some are read only. Some games will flat out ignore changes because they do a checksum on all files before launching.

        The $800 GPU PC gaming experience of 2025.

        $80 remakes stuttering along at sub 60FPS, getting glowing reviews

        lol

        1. The vast, vast, vaaaast number of UE4 and 5 games put their folders in the same place, with similar folder paths. This isn't new. Or rocket science. Or searching in the dark. It might even be true for UE3, but I haven't checked in a while.

          1. I miss simpler times when save files and config folders(tough we rarely needed to use one) where all in on whenever folder you choose to install the game.

    1. Hardware Lumen is more accurate looking than Software Lumen. It's not about "same thing but accelerated better".

  2. John, I have been visiting your site since 2012, but now I'm considering removing it from my bookmarks. The amount of negativity and spam on DSOG just repeal from your site any normal human being man. People who try posting valuable information are spammed with p*rn pictures and you do nothing.
    Users like MetalJesus used to post interesting comments daily, and now they just dont want to post anything.

    Also, your articles aren't as interesting as they used to be because now you're putting minimal effort into writing them. You even use the same phrases in your 'performance analysis' articles, so the only interesting part is the banchmark chart. But the worst are these 8K articles. If a ultra high end card costing between $2,000 and $3,000 needs to use FG (not to mention MFG) to reach the 60 fps target, then 8K tests aren't very valuable. Did Nvidia give you the RTX 5090 in exchange for writing these articles to promote MFG? If so, you should make it clear that these are sponsored articles.

    1. Direct me to the p*rn images. All I’ve seen is one picture with a pregnant belly (which is not p*rn) and nothing more.

      Regarding spam, I always delete accounts that constantly spam one topic (after giving them a warning). Plus, you can EASILY put users on your ignore list and you will never, EVER, see their messages.

      1. I think he was referring to the toxic behavior in the DSOGAMING community, but anyway, toxic comments aren’t your responsibility. I’ve been following your site since your performance analysis of Saints Row: The Third the original one not the remastered. Keep up the good work, you’ve always handled toxic people with maturity and professionalism.

    2. I am aware that John will persist in allowing trolls to walk all over his head and cause chaos on his site, and he will not take any action. DSOG has turned into a den of trolls and if he's fine with that, let it be. A few years ago, many users here on DSOG were keen to discuss articles in a productive way (especially users like MetalJesus), but now people in the comments section can only talk about "impregnating mega drive girl" or some other nonsense. Imbeciless like you can continue destroying this site, I dont care.

  3. wow ,the game looks much better now with hardware lumen .thanks for this post .i started the game from beginning again to enjoy the harware lumen .

  4. "For our AMD fans, you can enable FSR 3.1 Frame Gen. All you have to do is the “r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1” command. And that’s it."

    FSR 3.0. Virtuous didn't implement FSR 3.1 somehow …

  5. "These options should have been in the game’s settings. After all, this is an 80-euro game."

    Except these options woudn't make 80 euros acceptable, what stage of denial are you on you absolute shill?

    1. if you don`t accept then don`t buy. all the whinning and moaning means nothing to corporations. They undersand only the language of money $$$.

      If the game doesn`t sell for 80$ they will think long and hard otherwise they just count your money that you gave them and laugh thinking how stupid you are.

        1. My post wasn`t addressed to you per se, it`s just a general rule because people are in general extremally naive about how things work, they think if they moan on forums long enough it will change anything and this is not how the things work.

          1. It woudn't change much when people stop buying either, how many sjw flops and how much changed towards the landscape, literally nothing.

          2. most games still dont cost 80$, upcoming bf6 is 70$ for example, and it`s a huge game with single player campaign and humongous multiplayer component too.

          3. dont mind him, he's an idjot, that's why i've blocked him long time ago. He just likes to pick up fights like a lil troll.

  6. Just want to add that you can use ue5 overrides to set DLDSR resolutions as well. And use Nvidia Profile Inspector to force 4x MFG. So:

    – Hardware Lumen
    – DLDSR 2.25x
    – DLSS Performance
    = 200~ fps at 4K and looks incredible.

    Even DLDSR 1.78x looks good and bumps FPS up to the 225 cap with Low Latency Ultra mode along with the lower input latency.
