Grey Box has released an official patch that removes the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from RiME

Call us impressed. Yesterday, we informed about Tequila Works’ new title, RiME, getting cracked in five days. And in just mere hours, Team Grey Box released an official patch that removes the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from the game.

As Grey Box stated:

“Upon receiving this news, we worked to test this and verify that it was, in fact, the case. We have now confirmed that it is. As such, we at Team Grey Box are following through on our promise from earlier this week that we will be replacing the current build of RiME with one that does not contain Denuvo. “

Grey Box is also working on a new patch that will be released next week. This patch will provide a fix for the VR initialization bug, and will also provide a fix to some specific instances of hardware-related crashes, among other updates.

So kudos to Grey Box for acting so quick.

Enjoy your Denuvo-free version of RiME everyone!

    1. They had the drm-free build ready and STEAM isnt Sony or Microsoft to cost money or take days for an update

      1. Precisely. I strongly suspect they had the no-Denuvo build ready some days ago. Hence for why they baited the cracking scene to crack their game so it’d allow them to cancel the the Denuvo contract, escape further fees paid to Denuvo and have their game working better. This has seemingly been their intention from the get-go.

  1. Yeah, now fix the performance, now that your little challenge is over and done with as predicated.

  2. So they removed the “best gaming experience” from the game ? lol, they don’t deserve a single penny.

    1. They still made that deal with their publisher, many devs manage to get DRM free releases, from the start. Saying the publisher forced it, is a get out clause.

Devs are responsible for the deals they make with publishers, they don’t get to blame the publisher for something they agreed to, when they signed the contract.

All DRM is toxic to the paying customer, and doesn’t force pirates to pay for the game.
If uncracked, pirates just play a different game, that’s already cracked.

DRM only reduced the number of sales, it didn’t gain a single one.
Rime is yet another game, now proven to run better without Denuvo.

DRM only reduces the number of paying customers, it doesn’t increase them.

      1. Agreed, but do we actually know for a fact that they signed on with the publisher, knowing they’d put Denuvo on their game? I mean, are we sure it was actually detailed in the contract, or could it actually have been something that they only bothered to mention later?

        1. If it wasn’t in the contract, it’s even worse, as the devs then agreed to it, when they didn’t have to.

      1. I thought he was a bot already. When you check his comment history all you see is “pc gaming is dead!!11…LOL!…ROFL!”

    1. I wish mods would just perma him, all he wants to do is stir crap on purpose on the site, but if mods won’t get rid of him I’m sure they advocate for him causing trouble on here.

    1. make a bot…seriously, just make a bot, your comments are so unoriginal and samey that you could use a bot instead.

  3. Apart from all this debate about Denuvo, how is the game? Is it worth it? It got me pretty excited but I didn’t had the chance to buy it.
