Black Desert Online is now available on Steam and comes with a 40% discount until May 31st

Kakao Games and PearlAbyss announced today that their MMORPG Black Desert Online is out now on Steam. Players who order Black Desert Online between today and the 31st of May 17:00 UTC will save 40% on the game.

In order to celebrate this announcement, Kakao Games released a new trailer, showing off Black Desert Online’s beautifully designed open world, skill-based combat system, engaging life skills, and massive siege wars.

To better support the additional influx of players, Kakao Games will employ extra Olvia speed servers, some of which will be exclusively reserved to cater for new players that are coming through Steam. Users can choose to play on the exclusive servers or to jump into the greater community straight away. Special “Olvia” servers will help players to level-up quickly and catch up with the existing Black Desert Online community.

Enjoy!

  1. I heard that they had gone P2W with their shop and the general pacing of the game ended up frustrating some players.

The biggest concern I always have with these MMO devs bringing their games to Steam so late, make me wonder as to why they do this only now. Clearly they are doing this because there are issues with retaining enough users to keep them afloat, to a point where they’d never need to reach out to other stores and clients like Steam.

  2. Thought the game was free to play. I’m no mathemagician so I don’t know how much 40% of free is.

  3. Oops, sorry!

An error was encountered while processing your request:

This is what i call “HORSES#!T”

    1. I’m in Japan and hence my originally American Steam account is set to Japan by IP, so yeah, I can only play the JP version of Black Desert. The whole IP block thing is the real horse#!t.

  4. Charging for the base client keeps the riff raff out. its not like its expensive though. i paid $6.

  5. This is a fun mmorpg. Besides some pop in graphical issues im having no other issue with the game. Then again i realize these games dont really start until you enter endgame.

  6. What they forgot to mention is that all these nice looking character outfits and pets are… paid, yes this is paid game (once) and then most “interesting and nice looking” items are of course available in cash shop.
IIRC now these items can also be sold in in-game market place for in-game currency… dunno abut details don’t play active any more.

Excluding above issue I do like game.

  7. Yea too bad all existing customers have to rebuy the game and make a new account.

So, you’re welcome you got my $10 many months ago, EFFFF you.
