Call of Duty WWII to be officially unveiled on April 26th

Activision has announced that it will officially unveil the next Call of Duty title on April 26th. This new COD game will be called Call of Duty WWII and will – obviously – take place during World War II. Call of Duty WWII will be unveiled at 10AM PDT, and we can expect its debut trailer alongside its first details. Below you can find a teaser image!

  7. And in 3 years people will be complaining how stale WW2 shooters are and how we should go back to modern/futuristic shooters. Gamers tend to walk in circles thinking they’re making progress.

    1. Actually it’s been about a decade, & I haven’t heard much in regards to advocating a return to WW2 shooters, just a general move away from modern/futuristic shooters, because they’ve gotten stale, repetitive, & utterly unoriginal.

          2. Bad launch window, nothing to do with the gameplay, setting, etc.

            Hell, if anything, I’d argue their inclusion of mecha’s sets them out from the other “futuristic” FPSs which are just wanna-be super-soldiers in suits.

            Good point on the CoD clones, though, that is definitely a factor as well.

      1. Nah it’s not, i played a lot the beta and honestly, aside i don’t really like unreal style as arena, i find much better quake style, i enjoyed a bit unreal 3, but this one is actually not that good, besides the fact it’s not active at all

          1. No it’s just bad, and pretty gameplay breaking since sometimes i see people doing all sort of stupid stuff dodging stuff while killing you, again, quake style is far superior honestly

          2. I agree with this, though, yeah. Quake 3 Arena & Unreal Tournament 2004 are still their respective pinnacles, in my opinion, with Quake 3 having, arguably, the most in-depth gameplay of all.

            Especially now that both QC & UT4 are adding in scrub crutches (QC – timers & announcements (not to mention loadouts), UT4 – sniper scope zoom-in now features a circle around people’s heads, for some reason).

            Though, UT2K4 hands down takes the crown for outdoors/vehicle combat 😛 sadly, Quake just doesn’t have anything that compares to Onslaught Mode.

        2. Yeah, it’s nothing like Unreal 3, it’s UT 2K4 with HD graphics & new content.

          Or, well, it’s trying to be UT 2K4, they’re still working out the fine details, after all.

Not saying that UT3 was better or anything (even if UT3 was the first i tried, i never liked UT style, but had fun on it), just saying that they’re trying to put together stuff from 2k4 and 3, which won’t work, and it’s not, apparently, anyway my comment was probably a bit biased since i don’t really like UT style.

          2. Oh no, UT3 really was terrible. They basically slapped together Gears of War assets with UT assets & called it “UT3” even though it really wasn’t.

            Interesting, though, I haven’t noticed much UT3 influence. Anything specific you saw, or? 😛

          3. Well i don’t know, pretty much all the maps are copy pasted from ut3, or at least were, weapons too, now they changed all(?) the weapons, but i don’t know, the overall feeling and most of the textures looked like either copied from ut3 or just very much alike

          4. Na, UT3’s weapons were copy/pasted from UT2K3, which c/p’d them into UT2K4. Though, yeah, the weapon models are basically modified versions of their UT3 versions, which were modified versions of the UT2K4 weapon models, albeit, extensively modified to make them more in-line with Gears of War’s art direction. They’ve partly reversed this trend, to be fair, but yeah, some weapons still have it a little heavily (the Rocket Launcher, for example).

            Regardless, everything is still a work in progress, anyway. I mean, they have to start from somewhere, right? 😛

            As for the maps, off the top of my head I can tell you that Deck 13 is another UT2K3 or 2K4 carry-over, though I don’t remember specifically which, & so are a few others, but there are a couple of original creations, as well, yeah. It’s been a while, so I don’t remember which are which specifically, especially in regards to UT3, but I haven’t had any UT2K4 vets pointing out UT3-native maps carried over, so I’m guessing most of them are re-re-made UT2K4 maps, with the new maps being the exception.

  9. Trying to cheat Battlefield idea now, they were still going with stupid futuristic ideas like crazy then suddenly saw how cool World War 1 can look if executed properly and now making World War 2 lol but no matter what they do It will still be rotten at core, this franchise need to die.

      1. Call of duty appears every year and Battlefield 1 is being shown from quite sometime, even if they had this idea I am sure they will try to make it like Battlefield because the franchise itself is simply out of ideas.

  10. I’m cautiously optimistic. Curious to know what a modern AAA WWII game would look like. Doubt I’d really care for the multiplayer aspect unless they include an offline split screen mode, would be a great throwback. Or better yet a co-op campaign mode like in World at War which I totally forgot about.
