Bohemia Interactive has announced that its military sim, Arma 3, has sold 3 million units worldwide. Arma 3 was officially released on September 2013 and it took Bohemia almost four years to hit its 3 million milestone.
In addition, Bohemia Interactive announced that it will release the free Arma 3 Malden DLC on June 22nd. This DLC includes a re-imagination of the classic Malden terrain featured in the very first Arma game.
Furthermore, the studio will release a new (and free) cooperative multiplayer mode, named ‘Combat Patrol’. Here, players need to accomplish various objectives as part of an infantry team, and each playthrough will be different thanks to the mode’s heavily randomized nature.
Below you can find a video showing everything that will be coming to Arma 3 in 2017.

Why is this a “sim”?
It’s the closest thing to a military sim there is out there. It’s a ‘military sim’ in the same sense that Euro Truck Simulator is a ‘trucking sim’.
I haven’t played ARMA 3 yet, but I played Operation Flashpoint, ARMA 1 and ARMA 2 and they’re pretty good, OF especially.
Makes little sense to me but ok
Additionally, ARMA shares engine code and assets with Bohemia’s own VBS (Virtual Battlescape), an ACTUAL military simulator used by US Army.
Compared to everything else it’s a sim. It can be a proper sim or not, the customization and flexibility is what makes people play it so much. I dont see arma as a game, I see it as a simulation based platform for different games and modes.
Not really a sim, its a tactical shooter with “simulated” elements. VBS is a sim.
Seems not many people can handle playing this game.
I love it even with it’s weirdness.
But 3 millions seems so low even then.
And in 3 years I havent’ seen more than 40fps at 1440p with SLI 980ti’s. The engine is still FUBAR.
So it should, the game is fantastic and keeps getting better.
