      1. I’m watching a series, does that counts? :p

I’m just appreciating what it being presented here, not in any way I would like to play that way. 🙂

        1. OK!
It’s nice to watch but I like to take off the rose-colored glasses and see how does this thing fare as a game, what it its substance. It’s supposed to be something interactive after all. Otherwise it could’ve just been a movie. And you have to admit that if you cut out all cutscenes, transitions, etc. and leave the actual game, it is a horrible display. Everything except for the graphics seems lackluster, enemies are like bots, stupid hitmarkers, modern UI and too many novelty weapons (really? It’s SP, you can make them rarer!) destroy the immersion.
And that scene with flamethrower… The player was like a bad actor on a scene that wondered: “When do I die? Am I supposed to burn? Oh okay then, I’m dying!”. 😛

          1. That’s the thing, I don’t think that this is the proper actual gameplay per say. Just a scripted showing of some bits and pieces of what may or may not be part of the campaign. If you ask me it’s going to be another “run of the mill” thing since everyone will focus on the MP as always.

And also, at this point (actually everyone should’ve realized way back when they announced it) there’s no point in complaining about historical accuracy or overdone, scripted, bombastic and generic gameplay and what not.
it’s triple A, it’s this game industry, it’s not going to take risks, not doing something bold, it’s not changing now and it will not change anytime soon, so what remains is appreciation for what is presented or moving on.

I’m not sold on it, I’m just gazing at the pretty things being presented at the window on the expensive shop that I hate.

          2. I agree. I mean, when did DICE make an outstanding SP campaign?

Yes, it’s a game which doesn’t seem to have much more to it if you decide to play it instead of watching it.

          1. February right? I still on ep 6 but I’m hooked for the Season 2 already.

Not too found of series, I tend to get reaaaally pissy with fillers, but I like Giamatti (“Barney’s Version” is my favourite film ever) and Lewis is also great (his acting on “Keane” is something else, holy sh*t!).

          2. Yup, Sunday, February 19th, 2017 ^^

It’s nice to see quality actors moving over to TV for a stint or two, isn’t it? Such a refreshing relief from pretty idiots with no acting skills at all.

    1. My favorite engine this generation. Games launch with good performance, and most important to my elitist a$$ generally come out of the gate with stellar sli scaling!

      1. Frostbite 3 and Fox Engine are my favorites but sadly Konami is even worse than EA so Fox Engine is wasted.

        1. Yeah Fox Engine definitely presents and performs well to boot. Sadly MGS5 may be the only game we get on it, which is such a waste. I’d be all over a new Castlvania: Lords of Shadow done in the Fox engine

          1. As someone reminded me yesterday, don’t they have some kind of B-Team that’s got experience working with Fox Engine?

I mean sure, a new MGS will just be a joke without Kojima, but maybe Konami will let them use it on something else…. without Kojima…… >.<

    1. you die several times, and it switches to different soldiers. The slow mo was good for that section. Made the deaths feel more impactful imo.

It’s just the first section. Ofcourse you’ll play as actual characters throughout the campaign, and if you die you’ll die.

  1. battlefield 4 is still better then battlefield 1.this looks boring as fuc*.this game has to much hype BECAUSE of the cod hate.

    1. Well if you like ww1, there i that, i dont get the cod hate, it is now a sci fi game. They changed it, not good enough apparently. But they get their panties wet with the cod4 remaster.

      1. like i said ww1 is boring this game is living off the cod hate and not because bf1 is a good game.batlefield 4 is better.

          1. because i played them all???…maybe….??? bettlefield 4 is much better then bf1.

all battlefield 1 is doing is living off of cod hate.

  2. yay ww1 game….BRRRRRRRR. TAATTATATATATATATAATAAA, What happened to bolt action rifles?

SLOW MO…..RANDOM BLACK GUY……Damn you games industry.

Oh and one thing that always bothered me, flamethrowers are a joke in games, in reality flamethrowers can kill instantly, none of that running around screaming, you could die without even getting burn. Carbon monoxide poisoning.

        1. It’s merely a counterexample to durka durka’s “flamethrowers are a joke in games”.
BF is not meant to be realistic, but hell… this bullet-sponginess takes away the fun. CoD and CS:GO aren’t realistic either but people die faster (probably because BF combines poor damage with exaggerated bullet drop).

      1. Ehmm this is the singleplayer and by that logic “its a fun game” i could go ahead and say that cod is a fun game. What is “fun” anyway, are bf singleplayer campaigns “fun”??? Do they try to be?

    1. Honestly though, we need some black protagonists in gaming. There’s too many whites but too little blacks and asians.

  3. The guy playing completely ruins the atmosphere, running around like COD multiplayer. Choose how you think WWI would play and it will play just like that.

    1. By that same logic call of duty is the most tactical shooter of all time… if you decide to play it that way

    2. You can’t choose how to play, it’s a scene and you have to play according to the script. Not happy? At least you aren’t an extra.

          1. I had to watch a playthrough to remember the part you talking about. It is the part after generic usa soldier and cutscene jet fighter level and before generic tank level and generic sneaky night time sniper mission. I suppose from that it was more interesting, but that does not mean that a garage shootout can qualify as a good mission in a military fps, i mean where is the military fps part? It is just a shootout.

  4. Dice once again proving that they suck at SP campaigns. Take COD, put it in Ww1 setting, crank visuals to 9000 and you’ll get this. Death mechanic looks like evolution of what we saw in Bad Company 2, which means no fail state or fear of death. Pass.

Can’t believe some devs are still living in fairy land and think that copying Modern Warfare is still cool.

  5. Interesting semi-interactive World War 1 memorial. But having seen this little demo why would I want to spend anymore time looking at this horrible, depressing portrayal of absolute misery? The movement is slow and stiff, the AI is non-existent, everything is linear. Vehicles and bigger levels could solve some of that but you would still be shooting at unresponsive zombie AI.

And then there’s the blatant race pandering. I am sick of it. There were practically no sub-Saharan Africans involved in WW1 or 2, stop shoving Black people into everything, stop rewriting history. If the game looked remotely fun, which it doesn’t, I would still never ever touch it.

  6. Muh diversity quota.

Too many yanks too, they were barely in it. Even less so than WW2. So sick of playing as them.

  7. LOL 😀
So true…will always be relevant for all modern “military” shooters!
That being said…i still love that trailer! 🙂

  8. The burden of proof is on the person making the positive claim, which is you. I wanted to see actual arguments. You really are upset for not being able to make empty claims without backing them up.
