Halo 5 feature 2

Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will be coming to the PC thanks to Xbox Play Anywhere

In a new blogpost, Microsoft has confirmed that every new title that will be published by Microsoft Studios will be coming to the PC. All of these games will support Xbox Play Anywhere, and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store. In other words, the next Halo game will hit the PC, though pretty much all of the games supporting Xbox Play Anywhere will be exclusive to the Windows Store.

As Microsoft claimed in its “Windows 10 Anniversary Update Available August 2” article:

“With the Xbox Play Anywhere program, you can buy a game once and play on your Windows 10 PC and Xbox One with shared progress, shared game saves and shared achievements. Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will support Xbox Play Anywhere and will be easily accessible in the Windows Store.”

As Microsoft stated, Xbox Play Anywhere games will be offered within the new unified Windows Store on both Windows 10 and Xbox One.

In other words, all future major first party triple-A games for Xbox One – that will be published by Microsoft Studios – will be available on the PC. And while these games seem to be exclusive to the Windows Store, it’s definitely something that will at least please a number of PC gamers.

Here is hoping that these games – that will most likely be DX12-only titles – will be better optimized for the PC platform than what we’ve got so far!

      1. they also said not all xbox games will go to pc and we see how that went.i wouldnt trust what ms says right out of the gate.

    1. Windows Store is available only on Windows 10. And all those games must be UWP if you want buy it once and play on Xbox or PC. Current list:

      – Forza Horizon 3
      – Forza Motorsport 6 Apex (free)
      – Halo Wars 2
      – Quantum Break
      – Gears of War 4
      – Gears of War Ultimate
      – Halo 5 Forge (free)
      – Halo 6
      – State of Decay 2
      – Scalebound
      – Crackdown 3
      – Dead Rising 4
      – Sea of Thievies
      – Recore

I really want one more title:
      Age of Empires 4

      1. I get it you are excited, devoted or something. But this is beyond boot licking at this point. Give it a rest.

Also, for all the advertisement you are giving for the MS store, you are really forgetting about the misgivings of GFWL, there are still so many games unplayable even now. Games are just a service for MS, so when the time comes for it close up they won’t give a sh*t about preservation of art.
Your lets say ‘ignorance’ is really rubbing me the wrong way.

          1. ‘Cause this way they think they get more people to upgrade to Windows Spyware 10.

            #Microsoft.

      2. lol you again ?

        “Age of Empires 4”
ha ha ha ha nice joke. they F***ed that title years ago, where is AoE online ? the only thing left from AoE is a mobile crap app with pay walls. even if they decide to make another one, it will be a s***ty console/win10 casual crap that no one is asking for.

        1. So true and sad man i loved AOE 1 and 3 the 2nd one i could never get into but i will try again. Played so many games that are like AOE but they focus to much on the military aspect vs the economy, anno was decent however.

      3. Wish Microsoft would even do a kickstarter for AOE4. But they won’t cause they can’t find a reason to sell it to consoles to.

      4. “Isn’t Possible”, you are talking rubbish, MS can give you a steam key (or DRM free on GOG), it’s not a problem, if they choose to do so, there is no technical reason it can’t be done, MS chooses not to do it.

GOG already did this with Witcher 1 and 2, years ago I got GOG keys due to owning it on Steam.

GOG has recently started GOG connect.
Selected (with Pub/Dev agreement) Steam games are giving GOG keys for no extra cost, if GOG can do this, any store can do it.

All them games you list, keep them., I don’t give a damn about
them or any of Sony’s exclusive crap either, they can keep every one, I
        won’t play them.

Don’t believe the marketing crap, MS could let DX12 be on all OS’s, but chooses not to, their is no can’t, just won’t.

  1. Will be coming to Windows 10 I think you meant. Journos really need to get their wording straight in regards to what MS releases their games on.

I now await for the shills to come in and try to correct me based on some dated Steam surveys but forget that in that entire process, they are still wrong in trying to correct me or anyone else who pointed out the wording error.

  2. Every new title published from Microsoft Studios will be coming to the WINDOWS 10. Nothing new we already knows that.

  3. remember guys you HAVE to buy the xbox one digital version from the win 10 store.when you buy the xbox one digital version you are supporting xbox…..

        1. If I was supporting XBOX I would be buying the boxed XB1 versions of said games. I am actually supporting PC gaming so that these developers push higher quality visuals/performance for the PC version.

          1. as i KEEP telling you guys you have NO CHOICE but to buy the xbox one digital version.when you buy from the win 10 store you ARE supporting xbox.

          2. You can KEEP telling people whatever you want but if no one was buying these games on PC then not only would Microsoft have no reason to bring them to PC let alone ensuring the PC versions end up with superior visuals etc. So no I am supporting PC gaming as Microsoft knows I am buying these games on PC because I want better graphics, resolution, frame rate and draw distance and buying these games for PC ensures I get what I want.

Nice try but no, you won’t get anyone to believe that schtick no matter how much you repeat it. This supports PC and If I didn’t buy them on PC then there would be no PC versions that are superior to the XBOX versions

        2. Actually, i’d say, since there will be more sales on Xbone compared to pc, i’d rather say that xbone is supporting the pc platform.

          EZ.

          Lol 🙂

  4. i dont have a problem with windows store. in fact i have so many already.. battlenet, gog, uplay, origin, steam. the only thing i’m skeptical about windows store.. is that will they close that store and all your games gone? that would be a question i really like an answer from microsoft.

    1. Which you are never going to get, at least in form of a clear and definite statement.

Only the usual casual PR wordplays for fanboïs and shills, like a few people from these forums sadly. Or maybe they’re all just Macrotryingtoohardlately employees praising their Lawhrd and Savouiror… Money…

  5. Games on Steam 1203, GOG 106(bought alot of old RPG games, some doubled up from Steam),Origin 0, Uplay 0 and Windows Store 0. If it’s not on Steam/GOG then it’s not on my PC.

    1. ” games like quantum break charges you full 60$”

Tomorrow is “Xbox and Windows 10 Ultimate Sale” so you can buy Quantum Break, Tomb Raider, Gears of War at 30-50% sale. Full list of games is available on xbox blog MajorNelson

    2. and TAX. every 0.99$ has 0.09$ tax fee, funny that i in the middle east have to pay taxes to U.S govs if i want to buy anything from them.

      1. Isn’t that why our glorious NATO is constantly invading your Muslim countries in the first place?

To get you guys to pay the West’s back taxes & international debts?

        ;D

        1. :)) I guess i paid more in tax to U.S govs than D.Trump yet even simplest services won’t even available in here. but well, they always invade the wrong countries.

Funny thing is, i have to pay tax to our govs for buying the gift card in the first place, then i have to pay more taxes to U.S govs to spending that money.

    1. This is regular Press Release though. I’ve seen this particular title in at least three different sites already.

  6. I just want all the bungie halo games. I honestly don’t believe ms will ever make a brilliant game ever again. I am sure there will be lots throwaway mediocre AAA garbage in the future but doubt we will see something truly great again.

    1. I’m predicting they’re planning a Halo 3 Anniversary cut for Halo 3’s 10th anniversary (2017), but considering how they’ve also got the Scorpio planned for a 2017 release, I’m guessing they’re going to include it in an updated Halo: Master Chief Collection package (Master Chief Redux Collection?), rather than releasing it as a standalone game.

If Microsoft’s new statement is 100% true across the board (previously they were being a little more vague about whether or not everything would actually be Xbox-PC), then next year’s MC “Redux” Collection should bring Halo 1-3 Anniversary + ODST (they patched it into the current Halo MCC,so it stands to reason it’ll be included) to Windows 10’s UWP Store, leaving just Reach, which most likely won’t be included in the second “Master Chief” Collection any more than it was in the first.

Unless of course they don’t go for another Master Chief Collection, but rather, a sort-of “Halo Collection” instead, in order to get Reach on the Xbox One & PC natively (it’s currently only available through backwards compatibility, which makes it run like sh*t), but I wouldn’t bet on them having much of a vested interest in getting Reach on the Xbox One or on the PC in the first place, so yeah.

It sucks, but there is always a chance they’re going to do a Halo: Reach Anniversary cut in 2020, at least. On the other hand, if they don’t bring the “Halo Xbox Scorpio Collection” to UWP, then they in turn most likely won’t be bringing 2018’s Halo 6 to Windows 10 in turn, making this statement utterly false.

(Halo is all but an annual franchise to Microsoft now, between Halo & Halo Wars, so there’s little chance they won’t release something in 2017, especially as a launch title for the Xbox Scorpio).

    2. Gotta Disagree, Ori and the Blind Forest and it’s definitive edition was a true Gem that could be had for crisp $20.00
Good Game Play and the story was pretty Good too…..
If you have not played it I recommend it whole heartily…In fact I liked it so much I gave away 3 copies on Steam to complete strangers. I am not a platform gamer by any standards….yet it spoke to me like very few games do these days!

      1. Moon Studios isn’t owned by Microsoft though, they’re an Independent Studio that can walk away from them at any time they want (standing contracts aside).

Unlike 343, the new Gears of War Studio, etc. which are owned by Microsoft, & thus are basically just doing what Microsoft wants them to do. Think Fable vs. Gears of War; Epic was in a partnership with Microsoft, but they were never owned by them, so they had autonomy – real autonomy.

Fable on the other hand, was always subject to Microsoft’s arbitrary (read: insane) whims, & because of that, it is where it is now, today – dead & f*cked.

          1. Meh, good riddance IMO. Though to be fair, I never personally cared for Gears of War in the first place.

On the one side, we have yet another IP becoming degraded in the hands of a new team/studio (much like 343 & Halo), on the other, thank f*ck Epic is finally done doing GoW Games……

    1. Windows 8 don’t support UWP – only old “fullscreen metro apps”. Not possible to add UWP app for W8

  7. For me, it’s not the Windows Store exclusivity in and of itself that’s the problem. It’s instead:

    1) The god awful telemetry bullsh*t in Windows 10 prevents me from ever going beyond a local account (I use Antispy Beacon too), so I’ll never log into my existing MS account to even buy these games (I’m a former console peasant :P).

    2) UWP’s locked down nature compared to traditional Win32 executable applications is atrocious, and goes against everything that PC gaming stands for.

Until you can fix these issues Microshaft, I ain’t touching any of your games, regardless of how much I might want to play some of them.

  8. The main problem with games being exclusive to windows 10 and the windows store is that it kills off the multiplayer community. I bought Gears of War for the windows store and I couldn’t find a single person to do coop with after being in queue for almost an hour.

  9. MS can’t sell it’s games on XboxNone so they want to pray PC gamer’s will spend their money 🙂

  10. How is this a news ? this is shilling, it’s like every page we must have two or more MS related news. did they paid for it or you just doing it because you think this is news worthy ?

      1. Yup 😀 look at my original post in steam survey article. i said what’s next ? another battlefield one amazing screenshots released article ? lol and look at the new articles, new incredible B1 screenshots article just went up.

          1. Funny how all of these “press releases” are nothing but praising some products and it’s the only thing that goes up in this site, you know DarkSide of Gaming, it was suposed to be honest source of news not marketing wheel for publishers and whom ever pay the most since last year. look at the amount of EA/Ubisoft/MS and DRM crap in here in the past year or so or just see the last two pages, could it be more anti consumer or clickbaity than it already is ? well they try hard. not even one critical article about some bad practice or you know, anti consumer move or restrictions etc… but just prasing and marketing. PCInvasion is doing all these screenshot etc news but at least they are cricital of some situations and sometimes voice in favour of consumers.

Unless by other bloody websites you mean likes of IGN and other hype machines.

          2. Gosh man, stop dealing in absolutes.
The internet makes me crazy with this kind of thinking. “Oh they aren’t being critical so OBVIOUSLY they are being sell outs”. F*cking hell really? There’s no middle ground for you? You don’t even give them the benefit of doubt. Maybe, just maybe they don’t want to take part in anything. And, would you please do something for yourself? Stop thinking that any site, journalistic or not is the bearer and the voice of the consumer, you are going to be crazy thinking that way.
Watch this, watch it again and try to understand it would you?
            watch?v=DRXEAGWynGA

          3. “There’s no middle ground for you?”
I don’t see middle. it’s all about prasing AAAs in here for the past year and using expensive praise words about them which only makes those words more and more meaningless.

“just maybe they don’t want to take part in anything”
They are part of the industry and their readers come here to be informed not brainwashed. they are taking part, but not on the consumer side.

“Oh they aren’t being critical so OBVIOUSLY they are being sell outs”

They are, i liked this site and i still care about it, i’m not paranoid, just read the headlines from past few pages.

          4. Nothing personal Amir, but your tinfoil hat is cooking your noodles.
Watch the video I’ve send you, please?

          5. Four articles about one type of DRM with praising words is just paid promotion or a clickbait. i have my tinfoil hat and you bury your head in the sand.

          6. Nope, I just don’t come here expecting illumination, I know where my head is all the time.

  11. As long as Denuvo keeps protecting games against piracy and remains unbeaten… so I guess it is a good thing after all, at least for those of us who still buy some games a year (only the good ones, really – demos would be a nice return anyway). I can see PC prices going up again however, and keeping up much longer than before (recent examples being Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, Total War, etc). We will see.

      1. Well, I just said it because one would guess that if PC games are protected against piracy, publishers (might think) sales will increase (they may not), and consequently devote more resources to the PC community. If that actually happens remains to be seen, but it would be nice to finally have some decent ports or games programmed for the PC from scratch.

        1. It won’t.

Piracy has nothing to do with the current state of PC Gaming, that’s just the excuse they vomit out at us. We don’t make enough money for them (compared to Consoles), & we still won’t make enough money for them to treat us properly even if Denuvo does successfully annihilate piracy.

Besides, even if we did see an increase in PC income that could actually be attributed to Denuvo (which we won’t), that won’t result in better PC ports. Publishers are just as happy to dish out mediocre PC ports now, as they have been since they started prioritising Consoles over PC; if they sell well, great. If they don’t, too bad, blame Piracy (or whatever they can come up with next), move on, & stress all the money consoles brought in instead. Denuvo isn’t going to change that in the least.

  12. Coming to PC as shackled console cancer UWP applications. You couldn’t pay me to play these games. Put them on Steam or GTFO Microsoft.
