A new version of the best WiiU emulator, CEMU, has been released to all patreon users and YouTube’s member ‘John GodGames’ has shared videos showcasing Kirby and the Rainbow, Super Smash Bros, Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World and Super Meat Boy running in it. Our guess is that CEMU 1.5.2 will be available to the public in a week. Until then, enjoy the following videos!

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

I’ve actually been able to start a serious playthrough of Super Mario 3D world with this version CEMU, Its very stable and performance is pretty stable. Not as stable as some of these vids make out though, in multiple games it will play well for a bit then hit small pockets of slowdown, depending on what action is going on on the screen.
For example Super Mario 3D world played great no hiccups until I reached a stage where mario was skinned in various shaders, some to look like liquid metal, others to make him look like a piece of staind glass. There it would slow down when ever I hit the box or switch which ever changed his shader effect. It was kind of annoying because you change these forms like 4 or 5 times during the level, each punctuated by what felt like a framedrop into the teens for 10 seconds. Also since its still fairly young, the emulator is working like a closed box you don’t choices over resolution or post effects or aa or even vsync, like you would in a more developed emulator like dolphin. But that was just one level so far, other wise its played pretty great in that game at least.

Only video options you get is windowed or fullscreen. I’m guessing it upscales whatever the native desktop resolution is I think,
I just checked against gpu z and it doesn’t look like second card is being utilized actually. The one thing that frustrates me about it is they are taking such a closed box approach, hope when they get a bit further along they start implementing some more in the way of emulation and graphics options, or at least have it output to a configuration or settings file that a person could hunt through, as of now there’s a settings.bin but it looks compiled, trying to edit in notepad ++ just yields a bunch of Null symbols.
Hope that doesn’t make me sound too down on it though, its amazing how far they’ve come with a system that’s still out on the market no less way ahead compared to ps3 /xbox360 emulation unless of course your microsoft who have built a working 360 emulator that runs on a vm for the xbox1
PC ALWAYS WINS. No excuse, we ALWAYS WIN. Personna 5 at e3 announcement i bet, if not we got ps3 emu. ahahahaha!
WiiU is already hacked, but nice to be able to play on PC.
No matter what, I’m no buying redundant, outdated locked hardware just because Sony, MS or Mintendo want to control the platform, it’s basically paying for the padlock.
The progress with this emulator is so quick, how is that possible? 0.o
Magic, man!
The arch is similar to Wii’s and we already know Wii’s since Dolphin etc i think , this is why. They saved lots of time from there
Still its a impressive work!
The thing is though the dolphin team clamied it would be to hard
Yeah i remember , guess Cemu’s team proved them wrong 😀
I see a lot of hard work ! Respect to the programmers and whoever made this possible.
Where do you get the ISO’s for CEMU? i havnt been able to find any on my usual list of ROM/ISO sites.
I find a few of mine at portalroms
Because most of the games clock in around 20 gigs.
