Danvsw has released a new lighting mod for Watch_Dogs. We all know how Watch_Dogs was downgraded from its original vision, however Ubisoft’s open-world title looks amazing thanks to this mod.
As Danvsw claimed, this mod combines many mods by other modders as well as some of his own, and is based originally on TheWorse mod.
Those interested can download the mod from here.
Here are all the mods that are included in this compilation mod:
- Includes most features from the original TheWorse mod, such as depth of field, textures by MaLDo, headlight shadows etc., more info in the original mod page [link] (credits to kadzait24, TheWorse, VAAS and MaLDo)
- Relief Mapping (similar to Parallax Occlusion Mapping) by The Silver [example]
- E3 Focus by txgt
- E3 White helicopter spotlight by txgt [example]
- E3 Beretta 92FS by The Silver + improved specularity material
- Biker outfit (replaces Cyberpunk outfit) by infiniium + helmet reflection fix for rainy weather
- Increased steam/smoke by Essenthy
- Reflective Cloud Gate by The Silver
- Improved Vehicle Lighting by txgt
- Dark blue night sky during Clear weather by txgt
- Disabled bloom by txgt
Danvsw’s tweaks:
- Clear sky during Clear weather
- Greatly reduced distance fog during Clear weather
- Improved weapon materials during rainy weather
- Less obtrusive sun flare & glare
- Less aggressive adaptation during Clear weather
- More realistic sun & godrays colors
- Modified almost all vegetation (colors/brightness) to better match the lighting
Do note that this mod suffers from a minor brightness issue during cloudy weather.
“Cloudy weather is too dark, what I did is lower gamma from 1.2 to 1.0 in sweetfx (Tonemap) whenever cloudy weather occurred.
When entering indoors and tunnels during cloudy weather, the lighting outside gets glitched but returns to normal when going back out.”
Enjoy!

Looks amazing! Great job on that presentation video too, very well done.
Seems a good time to play this $hitty game…installing again…
goVEGAN
that looks far better actually.
it’s come at a good time too. i’m considering going back and playing that awful game.
i’ve a feeling that when watch_dogs broke my streak of leaving no game unfinished… it kind of ruined gaming for me ever since.
one must face old demons or something… lol
Sadly, Ubisoft Iconic Sh!te Protagonist™ and Iconic Sh!te Story™ and not to mention the Ubisoft Iconic Downgrade™ completely dwindled down any motivation for me to want to play this game.
Cool mod/pics/video though.
As stated by Jim Sterling: ” Ubisoft, you don’t get to pick what is iconic or not”.
That “iconic” hat though. :p
too bad, because this game is really good!
I wouldn’t call it “really good”. Gameplay has it’s hooks, but it’s way too formulaic as it is Ubisoft tradition. And as I’ve said the story and protagonist are sh!te. The setting is great and they do bugger all with it.
I re-installed the game a couple of months ago and also installed The Worse mod with Maldo textures and the game looks quite good.
Going to try this one as well…it does look amazing.
Wow, there’s some fantastic visuals in there. If I had Watch Dogs, I’d be all the hell over this.
do we need a super computer to install this mod!
2016, the year of turd-polishing.
how about the camera mod , where is that ?!!
As far as I can tell the mod makes the game crash on a pristine virgin install…
Win10 i presume. You need to get the right sweetfx version.
Word of warning, the original link posted, is for a version of sweetfx that is not compatible with Win10.
Accidently copied it over and caused game to fail to launch. Went to the forum link, and found another user who hit this issue, they reuploaded a compatable ver of Sweetfx with the right presets. Definilty copy that one, otherwise the big patch itself installed fine. Looks better but definitly darker
Thanks dude.
Well, you can pick up Watch Dogs for £5.99 at cdkeys lol
The game can look awesome but if it still plays like the original title along with not running at 60fps then I honestly don’t see a point in using the mod(s). I’d rather have a good looking games that plays well and doesn’t cripple my setup just for a few single frames of photo realism, I’d rather have it all than just a few photo shots worth.
That would depend on your pc now wouldnt it. I dont remember their being a framerate cap here.
Neither do I but needing some ultra PC for a few mods doesn’t really say much let alone actual gameplay and how the game itself plays.
Downright gorgeous. If it had been THAT from the get go, if only. Played the game twice already and played the dlc sooo yea, damn.
About to buy this game on amazon because its like 9 bucks. Win.
So tired of seeing the sheep trash the game. Downgraded graphics is not the same as a game sucking. Watch Dogs is super cool, fun, and the hacking system added something that no other game had. It was my GOTY.
Beautiful modding effects. =)
You can only shine a turd like WD so much.
Dat Water Though 😮
Replaying the game, reshade, watch Dogs tonemap preset, luma sharpen, 4xTXAA
