Batman: Return to Arkham – Unreal Engine 3 versus Unreal Engine 4 comparison screenshots

As we’ve already said, Batman: Return to Arkham is not coming to the PC. Gearnuke has shared some comparison screenshots between the UE3 and the UE4 versions of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. In addition, NeoGAF’s member ‘MilkyJoe‘ shared some additional comparison screenshots between the original and the remastered versions of these two titles.

Do note that these comparison screenshots are based on the official trailer, and are not direct feed comparisons. In other words, there are video artifacts that can be easily noticed.

The UE3 images are on the left, whereas the remastered UE4 screenshots are on the right.

Enjoy!

  1. That Mr. Freeze suit, Joker textures, Two-Face pose, & Dr. Strange shot.

    NEXT-GEN GRAFIX!

P.S. Where the f*ck are my Asylum tints >.<

        1. you think star citizen is graphically superior to Uncharted 4!!? AHAHAHAHHAHA LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!!! OK

          1. I can’t tell –

Are you serious? Or this some sad pathetic attempt at trolling?

Uncharted 4 looks great, granted, but even Arkham Knight PC looks better, not to bring up how even AK PS4 looks better than these so-called “Remastered” Ports.

          2. Linear, scripted, quicktime events, generic, nothing new done everything before, tomb raider copied Uncharted 4 you mean?

          3. ahahah….. So basically you’ve just described EVERY third person action adventure game..? You’re actually an idiot! You dont even know how to judge games lol..

And of course this rebooted Tomb Raider copied Uncharted that’s unquestionable… or are you one of those many retards who think Uncharted copied Tomb Raider when really the only comparisons between Uncharted and Tomb Raider was they both went on adventures and shot guns loool..?

    1. That is what I was thinking myself. That UE3 looks console quality as well. The PC version that I played looks much better.

          1. for all the other games that are on ps4 as well and sell 10 times more there?

    1. Ar you sure you’re not confusing the screens? Because All the the UE4 shots look noticeable better except for the Hugo Strange one.

  2. Erm, since it’s not coming to PC why are we giving any attention to this?
I mean, WB doesn’t care, why should we? >.<

    1. Thats the first I heard of that, straight up console only?!!? And seriously, whats up with these remasters from games not even 10 years old.

      1. Cash, money, monies, the means, the dollah, the wherewithal, funds, capital, finances, lucre, coins, change, specie, silver, currency, bills, notes, dough, bread, bucks, loot, greenbacks (lel, my favorite), moola, dinero, shekels, mazuma, pelf, wealth, fortune, affluence, assets, resources, $$$.

  3. ROTFL, those “UE3” screen are a blurry mess, take it from the PC build next time and not from a sort of youtube video of console version…

    1. What, & make those “Next Generation Console” ports look even worse than they already do?

      Sorry, no can do!

        1. Do you remember that time you guys had that awesome PC ultimate edition of Batman Arkham Knight… yeah man… real good stufff!!!! looooooooooooooooooooooooool

          1. Actually, it ran just fine at a locked 30FPS on a 750Ti. The issue was when you unlocked the frame-rate but you know, clueless console users, even the PS4 couldn’t do a perfect 30FPS.

    2. The cutscenes in ALL versions of Asylum and City were horrible prerendered terribly low bitrate video files. All these screen comparisons so far are from these terrible videos. My guess is the Unreal 4 remaster footage is all realtime ingame engine.

      1. PC master race are enjoying Rise of the Tomb Raider, Ultra textures at 60fps. Have fun waiting for it… to play it at 25-30fps without AA.

          1. Yeah terrible isn’t it, a Sony exclusive game done by a Sony owned studio not on PC.

          2. Sony exclusive game done by a Sony owned studio not on PC, also the best game in recent decades*

    1. For money so there is a reason to resell to consoles on their current gen, pay twice for remasters and redux.

      1. True, this would not profit on PC.
Only reason to buy this is to play the older Arkham games on ps4/xone.
        Graphics improvement are almost none.

  4. Sorry guys who wanted to play this. I personally don’t care about this game but what happens when we do care? I try not to be selfish just because i couldn’t care less about this game or series doesn’t mean others don’t.

If only our platform had games to play for the last 30+ years without needing to rebuy them man if only.

  5. Trolling for fun… ‘Batman Return to Arkham’ : 12 gigs VRAM required for a true 24 fps cinematic experience.
Sorry, couldn’t help myself. I’ll see myself out, now.

  6. some of it looks good, but then i see the hugo strange comparison, ugh, WTF! special U4 bushy eyebrow enhancement. still say modders could achieve the same results with higher texture resolutions and reshade w/o updating the engine.

  7. My 970 still has issues when it comes to the car keeping 60fps I just locked it at 30 and maxed everything out.

  8. ohh impressivvveee… Soo much going on standing at a distance from the city in SOOOO much lighting loool… You certainly shut me up well done sir.
