The community FB page of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has released some comparison screenshots between the original and the remastered versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. These screenshots will give you an idea of the visual enhancements that Infinity Ward has implemented in this classic shooter. Original screenshots are on the left, whereas the Remastered version is on the right. Enjoy!

Meh, I found a better video By FallenNinjaGames, add it to your article.

This look like a proper remake.
Here’s an official video comparing ship 2007 vs 2016 and another map

here you have a gif comparing ship mission opening and a screenshot comparing landing zone.
First CoD4 screenshot and second remake screenshot are pixelated.
This was one COD that I can say was amazing!
COD:MW was revolutionary in many ways when it came out in 2007!
After this, they practically got lazy and did nothing new and instead got worse every year!
Should be standalone.
Savage…
Damn! It’s a sad state of affairs when something like this garners more interest than the actual game. Either way, I want!
This remaster is probably going to suck. CoD 4 has so much I doubt they’ll provide it in this remaster
Like mod tools, community dedicated servers, mod support etc
Didn’t use nor care for any of those except dedicated servers.
All I care about is the core game.
If you played CoD 4 on PC at all then yes, you did use the server browser.
Are you sleeping?
>except dedicated servers
The core game is priority number 1, but those features are good in any game, and it is rare.
Agreed, modding for CoD? Heh, no thanks, hacker. 🙂
If the core multiplayer for MW RM is solid, and has some “logical’ updating with the perks/killstreak systems, it is a lock to be more popular (and last way longer) than the mp for the new game…
Which would be hilarious and embarrassing for Activision. (which is why I think they’re gonna charge more for it)
It will def not suck… Finally CoD mp without all the jumpjet, fake futuristic gimmicky, forced tactics…. just straight gunplay.
What would truly SUCK is charging more than the base version to get the RM MW….
If you don’t want futuristic crap then go play CoD 4 or even BO2. They are still active. The remaster will be poor on PC.
How does charging for the remaster suck? You really expect them to give people the remaster for free?
Sh*tton of postprocessing – Check!
A couple of fancy shaders – Check!
A handful of new assets thrown together in 3ds – Check!
Conclusion: Let’s milk some more, Let’s reuse COD4 since it was our best and most successful game and we constantly went in the wrong direction with each new game we made anyway.
What is your problem?
This is them admitting that they cannot make a good game and have 0 confidence in the new release, since that’s the case, I’m fine with them remastering an old masterpiece.
However, if they force us to pay the $80 “Deluxe” version just to get the MW RM version, THAT is straight up Bull****.
Of course it is, look at how many dislikes the reveal trailer has.
Sure, but so what. Honestly, as long as they do it right, who cares? Granted, in a way they’re basically admitting “no game has ever been as long-term popular as this one, even MW2” but again, so what.
Assuming those Screenshots are real examples of the actual final product, that’s a lot more work than “a handful of new assets,” anyway. That looks like a new Lighting System, a new Particle System, & possibly a new (Cloth) Physics System too. That’s a lot of work to get all that on an Engine from 2007, & apparently they’ve even recorded new Audio.
Activision seems to have really invested into this, it looks like they actually want to do it right, & who can blame them for recognizing how much value there is in a well done CoD 4 Remaster? If they just add some shine, fix a load of bugs & port over all the great maps without touching the features (Mod Tools, Dedicated Servers, etc.), then they’ll have a real money-maker, & that’s really what Activision cares about (mostly once they detach it from Infantile Warfare & sell it standalone, at least……).
Yeah I guess you’re right. Just checked the comparison video, they are actually putting a lot of effort into this remake so I’ll go ahead and take that back.
Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate that they are doing this remake, since COD4 was a great game. I just find it a bit sad. That they just can’t seem to make a proper new COD game and instead have to rely on really old stuff. It’s like if Valve started making sh*tty games and to compensate for that bring us remasters of the likes of HL1, I would in fact be even sadder.
It’s funny, I was discussing this with someone a few days ago;
Technically, one could argue that they simply need to go back to Call of Duty 4 & look at what made the game so good (namely non-broken Killstreaks), even though that would turn off a lot of the current (albeit, shrinking) playerbase.
On the other hand though, Infinity Ward had an en-masse walkout shortly before Modern Warfare 2 launched (the CoD 4 guys went on to create Respawn Entertainment, & the Titanfall IP), so the guys working there now are considerably detached from the previous Developers, ergo they who actually created CoD 4.
Coupled with how the other CoD Studios are all way deep in this “MW2 Formula” thing by now, I wonder if these current Developers would even be able to understand what makes CoD 4 to this day such a time-enduring game?
Like, we can shout at them all day long about how Killstreaks are broken, but would they ever even understand how to fix them? I’m not sure. I’ve seen a handful of Studios make a course correction after crashing their respective Titanic/s (IP-wise) into an iceberg, but most of them just prefer to blindly smash at the iceberg, expecting it to eventually give way, because “f*ck you, giant ice lolly” – or whatever. Hell if I know.
“A handful of new assets thrown together in 3ds – Check!”
you have no idea what you are talking about, do you ?
You have no idea on how to read do you? Or more specifically, how to properly read disqus forums/comment sections.
Yea CoD 4 is nowhere near the most successful cod game, not even in the MW franchise MW1 sold 20.63M units (and that includes the DS &Wii version) MW3 sold about 32.2M units
Thanks for the numbers, what I meant to say was “their most beloved and critically acclaimed title” Of course the COD franchise has grown a lot since MW1, it’s natural that MW3 sold more, by the time MW1 came, they only had COD 1 and 2, of which it wasn’t until COD 2 that the franchise came to consoles.
Long-term it’s definitely the most successful. MW2 might still have its own considerable fanbase, but the subsequent CoD games are all but abandoned. By comparison, CoD 4 is the most time-proof game in the series.
maybe on PC its still fine to play but on consoles cod 4 is almost impossible to play, absolutely filled with hackers
So in other words, it’s fine…
no, just no, its the most generic cod ever.
Sure, yeah, I’ll give you that. However, it also has the greatest Multiplayer in CoD history to date, which is what 99% of the people interested in the Remaster care about.
