Bethesda has released a new trailer for the upcoming open beta phase of DOOM. According to Bethesda, players will have access to Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps. In other words, the same modes and maps that were available on the Closed Beta will be featured in the Open Beta. Doom’s Open Beta phase begins on April 15th and will last until April 17th. Enjoy!

All we are seeing is f*cking multiplayer with this game, f*ck off Bethesda, give us proper singleplayer footage. This is looking like Quake 3 basically, not Doom. You know, darkness and scary, remember that from Doom?
Please stop comparing it to Quake 3 based on visuals alone. Look at the actual mechanics and recognize that it’s rather close to Crysis 2 with some Halo elements. Halo is closer to Quake than this “Doom” is. Halo used to have weapons as pickups on the map which already makes it a more hardcore arena FPS than Doom. In Doom you spawn in with powerful weapons, like COD or Crysis 2.
COD-Halo4-Crysis2-Halo5-Crysis3-“Doom”-Halo3————powergap————anyQuake
The feeling is like Quake 3 that a Doom game, didn’t say what you accused me of saying. Crysis 2 isn’t an arena shooter, don’t see anything about Crysis 2 MP about it.
Similar movement speed, similar vertical height (jump plus climb animation), same two weapon loadout system, wallhack, melee finishers. The similarities are overwhelming, actually. If you don’t see the resemblance then you must not have taken a proper look at one of the two games.
Quake 3 on the other hand is several times as fast, has no damage free jumping while Doom has no rocket jumping, and in Quake 3 you have larger, more vertical maps and weapons are on the ground, you spawn with very little, there is no weapon limit… do I really need to go on?? Quake 3 is a completely different type of game. I play Quake Live frequently and I also used to play Halo 3, Crysis 2 and 3 in the past. The new Doom is very, very close to Crysis 2 and 3 and doesn’t have much in common with Quake 3. Even the lightning gun in Doom isn’t functionally similar to the Quake 3 LG (pushback), or the original Quake LG (shoots through walls). As far as function goes collecting HP and armor is about all this game has in common with old arena shooters and among those the older Doom games. That’s not a Quake influence, the real Doom had health and armor pickups.
Quad Damage (which is actually triple damage) and Haste are the only features directly taken from Quake. Meanwhile look at all the features from COD/Halo. Slow movement speed, two weapon limit, loadouts, climbing etc. dominate how this game works. It’s kind of what Crysis 2 and 3 should have been. Aiming down sights is optional, there’s no “sprint” button, no kill streak boni, no 15 different hitscan full-auto weapons with random spread, no “armor mode” that you have to use and that slows you down even more, no regen health… compared to other console games Doom 2016 is a breath of fresh air. But the game is called Doom and so the devs have to live with being compared to the classic arena shooters designed around keyboard and mouse. In that comparison the game is slow and dumbed down.
Why do you take it so personally, I got the quake 3 vibe from the trailers.
I’m not taking it personally, don’t worry about my feelings.
if it were like Quake 3, I would be very excited for the MP!
But are you kiddin me…Quake 3 is leaps and bounds ahead of this POS MP that is in this new DOOM.
As for the single player, yes I agree they need to effin show us more SP footage!
Game is made for consoles, any decent PC gamer will skip it.
I hope decent PC gamers will also skip Dark Souls 3, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen.
I don’t understand this kind of thinking.
It’s really easy: if someone is pissing on you – punch him in the face.
Or at least, do not drink it with a smile.
I would prefer to not get pissed on. Get out of the way of the yellow stream and find out what’s all this warm liquid business is about.
I already did that. The guy calls him From Software, and he’s doing that all the time, when he sees a distracted PC gamer. Pretty sure there are others. Yesterday I saw CDProject doing the same thing, and the guy was even willing to pay for it. No, he was laughing and throwing money at him!
I suppose you only walk with the guys who do not get on this liquid business.
Allegedly.
What’s wrong with Dark Souls 3?
Nobody cares about the game’s multiplayer, it’ll be dead in a month.
Agreed!
Especially for the fact that its a console like MP…if it were like say Quake 3 level of speed and movement, maybe the mp mode would’ve been something to look for…but that is just wishing too much!
Yeah, right.
steam preload for the open beta client on steam starts today!
Here to comment on just that: I tried and it won’t DL it. Anyone else successfully preloading Doom right now?
same problem here…
Everytime i read doom title,i remember this..
