YouTube’s ‘egodbout2’ is currently working on a recreation of Diablo II in StarCraft II. Now the good news is that this project may actually see the light of day as both of these games were developed by Blizzard. In other words, egodbout2 will – most probably – not receive a C&D letter. Moreover, this recreation looks incredibly amazing, so be sure to watch the video after the jump!
According to egodbout2, The Curse of Tristram will be a free game mod for StarCraft II. It will be released as a series of custom map (ACT:ZONE) published through Battle.net Arcade.
The alpha build of this mod is planned for a Summer 2016 release.
Enjoy!

What Diablo 3 should have been.
I knew someone was gonna make this comment.
Yeah it was inevitable.
And I knew someone was going to make this comment.
both comments were predictable. yes there are people who like it and people who dont, shocking!
Diablo 3 is now a really good game.
Damn that does look good.
Looks kind of cartoony but other than that it’s awesome.
Woah! Hope they/he/she can release it. A fan project that actually looks good and works well mechanically is rare.
This looks pretty amazing. I hope Blizzard will do a proper D2 remake in the near future.
the perspective at 0:51 is all over the place, they need to fix it 🙂
I’m assuming this is a starcraft II map. Amazing things have come out of that. Good thing they’re using Legacy of the Void, utilizes CPU’s much better than its predecessors.
ehh if they use D3 engine .. perhaps it looks much better IMO
Blizzard:
We’re gonna shut it down.
Valve:
We’ll ask him to join Valve and make a lot of money.
Blizzard is very open minded when it comes to modding. Just look at Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3 fan remakes. They even released HD assets for them to use and promoted them on their arcade shop. TBH, only companies that shut down fan projects are Console centric companies from Japan.
I still remember how they tried to shut down SC MMO project back in 2011, but after a consideration (and a huge backlash) decided to work with modders.
If people have any intentions on releasing fan re-makes of games WHY do they insist on releasing trailers?
All that does is let the companies shut it down BEFORE it’s finished…
If it was just released when finished it would be much harder to get every last copy off the internet…
This won’t be shut down. It’s a mod that requires you to own SC2.
ive been following this for awhile now, it looks kool.
I believe this one won’t get shut down. Blizzard don’t seem to be so d1ckish.
