The Coalition Is Working On Adding Multi-GPU Support In Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

As you may have already heard, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has been launched without multi-GPU support. According to various reports, this is related to the absence of an exclusive full-screen mode in UWP applications. And as Rod Fergusson, Studio Head of The Coalition, said, the team is currently working on adding multi-GPU support in it.

The Coalition’s PezRadar also revealed that the team is currently also working on polishing and improving the performance of the game.

“We do not have any news to share at this time for the PC version. I know some are worried but please don’t fret. We are wanting to make sure polish and performance are prioritized on the PC version so that you all have a great experience.”

      1. You are utterly wrong on this. It’s a 50-50 teade on this matter. You see… gow its a 3rd person shooter that has a heavy use of covers and the signature move of the serie called wall bouncing… and its a pain doing it with a keyboard. And the game is not a cod. So mouse aiming its not so important in this game. Most of the time you are face to face with you gnasheer shootgun and that means you and your opponent are at the mercy of the awful hit detection box. Only peasant are crying about this so wrong called advantage…
Of course at long range you sniper its going to be better and so the tork bow… and that is the end of the advantage
Plus peasant have been playing this game for years and they know every aspect of the game… we dont
And to being honest with you i was watching some peasant pulling some unreal shoots that is not even funny…

        1. I like this guys post! “Peasants” the goto for”console gamer” …. it’s hilarious! I know its not the first time the term “peasant” has been used but i love hoq he throws it around in his post. Very funny…

        2. There are people that do amazing things with those controllers.. sure, but thats not every console gamer. In fact i suspect its around 10-15 % at most. Almost everyone that i see/watch is sluggish, slow and boring.

Its like watching brain dead people (err zombies) playing games.

          1. Thats okay 🙂 As long as the enemy team has them as well haha. I admit i’ll be kind of mad if my whole team is made out of console dudes.

  1. “The Coalition” had SIX MONTHS to implement multi-GPU support for a repackaged ten year old console port.

      1. The apparent 60Hz refresh rate cap may just defeat the purpose of multi-GPU support anyway. Crysis 2 also had the same issue.

          1. The PC platform is about constant evolution and growth. Get a console if you cannot keep up.

          2. Yet the people who you call peasants are not egotistic pieces of trash like you are on here with your high and mighty bs attitude. Yet you are to stupid to notice when companies gimp your own hardware. And trust me I bet a person like you is on a 980 TI or a Titan X. And guess whan… What Pascal hits those cards will no longer get driver optimizations.

Yet lmao the 7970 from AMD still get”s driver optimizations. Oh but don’t worry my peasant 970’s will be fine because more people own the 970 then the 980 , 980 ti and Titan X combined.

Nvidia has to keep us Peasants happy because there is more of us.

          3. As always you find ways to go beyond my clear words and go on long tirades claiming to know this or that about me, making several baseless assumptions.
The other guy implied that the only use for SLI is higher framerate so I responded to that.
That doesn’t mean I don’t care about how MS ruined the game, I’d probably want to use higher refresh rate to be more competitive in MP and play the campaign in 4K 60.
Nvidia supports more legacy GPUs than AMD, why would I be worried about Pascal when I intend on buying it as soon as possible, not launch since prices get gouged due to depleted stocks and due to the lack of custom coolers and PCBs.

          4. Not everybody is like you… Not everybody upgrades every year… XD.

And Nvidia don’t support nothing anymore but their wanting people on the newest gpu Agenda. Fermi Vulkan support dropped… Async driver lie’s dropped….

            780 TI slower then the R9 290 now… Pathetic… Yeah that’s real support…

        1. The 60Hz refresh rate is only there if you play at such a refresh rate. It can go above if you have the monitor that goes above 60Hz.

  2. Gears of War Ultimate Edition would have been Ultimate only if it was on the Ultimate Platform (Steam). As it stands its not very Ultimate at the moment.

    1. The Ultimate edition should of been all the Gears games into 1 bundle and DX12 support. All priced at 60 btw.

Yes, ALL games for 60, and perhaps make the first one free on the Windows store for being dicks to PC gamers for far too long!

It is the only way to forgive MS imho. Right now i’m still on the fence.

P.s. Yea, it might be a bit too much, but its Microsoft… Act as if you see a rich person 😛 NOTHING IS TOO MUCH!

  3. Other than the higher frames per second and being able to use a higher resolution the game looks exactly like the Xbox one version in terms of visuals.

And the messed up thing is Nvidia HBAO+ is hidden behind ambient occlusion that can be either turned on or off.

So here we are again nvidia using gameworks and not Async compute. AMD wants to give performance and Nvidia wants to take performance.

          1. you can look the way all you want… I see things really clear. Enjoy the gimps and hostile takeovers.

  4. “We are wanting to make sure polish and performance are prioritized on the PC version so that you all have a great experience.” – isn’t that a given? Before release? Call me crazy for thinking this…………

  5. Hey guys, sry for offtopic and for not writing an email but >> Skywind – Official Development Video #4 is out and I think I haven’t seen it on dsogaming yet! just saying 🙂

  6. Really more time?

Why can’t anyone release a well optimised PC game anymore? I don’t mind patches that improve small things that are discovered from gamers but it’s now getting ridiculous. Developers are releasing broken, unfinished, untested and unoptimised games especially on PC and sadly I can’t see it ending anytime soon.

30fps shouldn’t even be considered acceptable for PC gaming nowadays.
