After investing a lot of hours this past weekend in the game, my initial thoughts are quite positive. Yes, I will start with the Graphics quality and specifically with the downgrade. It’s true, Ubisoft did downgrade the title…. They shouldn’t have but that’s the reality of it. Nevertheless, the Division is a very good looking game, I would say it’s on the same scale with the Witcher 3. Clearly one of the best games in terms of graphics out there. Did I want it to be downgraded? Of course not! Can I live with it? I think I can!
Alright, now we can move past the graphics and focus on the gameplay. The Division is a 3rd person RPG shooter. Most of the time you will stay covered behind objects and you will have to aim correctly in order to kill your opponents. That’s basically the whole beta’s point. We played a small main mission which lasted 15 minutes and while it was quite anti-climactic, I fairly enjoyed it. But after this main mission all that remains is some side quests, small missions to release some hostages and of course the infamous Dark Zone(the Player Versus Player environment). I can’t say that I’m satisfied with the content currently in Division. I know we only played a small portion of the game in the Beta but the whole structure is making me think that maybe there won’t be much to do, once the full game comes out. You can visit the Dark Zone and find the best loot as many times as you like, but that’s basically it! Once you are done with the main missions all that’s left is the Dark Zone, where you kill things and then you wait for a helicopter to extract you, in order to be the owner of the gear you picked up inside the Dark Zone. It’s pretty clear that, that won’t last very long, and soon Ubisoft will have to address the situation.
To be fair, I have to acknowledge that the Dark-Zone is a high-risk place, tension is huge and you have to calculate your every move very carefully. You never know if your temporary-friendly allies, will keep behaving themselves and not kill you in order to steal your loot once the helicopter comes for the extraction. So, in that sense the DZ really brings out the best gameplay mechanisms I’ve seen in a while! At the same time though, I have to wonder, what if I’m done with the game’s Story Mode and there are no Daily quests and all that’s left is the Dark-Zone?
It’s safe to assume that I’m going to visit that scary place in order to conquer everything! So I fire-up my good PC and start playing, but at the end of a very sketchy and terrifying session, after surviving on my own through all the elite enemies and hardships, my allies kill me! All that time goes to waste! In other words, my only avocation with the game, my one and only tie with it, doesn’t let me enjoy the gameplay or progress my character any further! And what if that happens 2 or 3 times in a row? We will be stuck in a game that potentially doesn’t let you do anything, other than stand still and not have the opportunity to evolve. Of course, that’s a rather extreme scenario that I used in order to make my point visible, but as gamers we surely need lots of content. The kind of content that will bring us back every day with Daily, Weekly, Special missions and not only some Dark-Zone rooms with potential PvP encounters.
In general, I was very happy with the performance of the Beta. I had an average of 75fps/1080p with Ultra Settings in my 980 Ti and things can only get better and more optimized in the Final Build. Still my concern is out there and Ubisoft has the power to listen to our feedback and make a fantastic game with great future potential.

id say yes there is. it just depends on what platform you get it on. on consoles it will be going for years on pc it will be dead with in 6 months. for me its about longevity. if no one is playing on pc in 6 months it doesnt matter about the content. if the dark zone is a ghost town on pc it doent matter much.
Which is not the PC platforms fault, it’s the games issue because PC has much better MMOs with much better content. The reason why this won’t last on the PC is because it offers really nothing new, I mean do you really expect people to come off their superior MMO/RPG type PC games to this generic trash?
it is the pc’s fault they will go back to their esports by that time and the game will be dead on pc.thats how it is with every fps shooter and i see no difference here.the division is a rpg shooter first.which means it wont last on pc.
Yes because it offers nothing new, clearly you’re not a PC gamer because you’re consistently blaming esports, because it’s the most money maker and you seem to miss the point that alot of people don’t play these games for esports ,they play it because they’re just fun, full of content, re-playable and fresh.
i guess you never read anything about the game. it can be played endlessly. it has randomized loot. yea morons spend money on skins and cases is why esports and the pc make more money but as AAA titles go pc canr compete with console.
here you go the link is from dsog that shows im right the pc is nothing but an esport, mmo cash shop machine.
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/digital-sales-of-pc-based-gaming-surpassed-32-billion-in-2015-outpacing-digital-sales-of-mobile-console-games/
as you can see the pc CANT compete with console AAA titles and this shows it. so go ahead and spend you $2 on a skin and waste money thats what they want and they know you will do it.. lol
You keep saying the same thing like a robot ,of course it has endless play, it’s a f*cking MMO style game with pvp, why do you think I compared it to other MMO style games that have endless content. This game won’t have a chance against Black Desert, which is coming out for PC exclusively next month.
its a rpg first shooter second pvp third. the game doesnt need to stand a chance on pc it will be on console for many years competing with destiny. black desert is another cash shop mmo that will fail. just like blade and soul. a mediocre which is just a cash shot esport.. lol
the division is a rpg first. a shooter second. it doesnt need cp like destiny doesnt. go play your cs go and buy a skin.. lol
Child, I don’t play CS Go or buy skins, also being the moron you are, you don’t think console players spend money on skins, boosts, emots. reeeeeeealllllly?
“It was already known that Bungie would introduce 18 new emotes in Destiny, and now we know what these emotes are. There are some really funny ones, but the highlight has to be the “Carlton Dance”, made famous when Alfonso Ribeiro (you probably know him better as Will Smith’s cousin Carlton) used some pretty nifty moves in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
These emotes can be unlocked with the new currency “Silver”, which can be purchased with real money”
C’mon Sean, do not fall for this, why bother replying to the garbage this guy writes? >.<
Well I try with people but this guy clearly is beyond help.
Leave him alone it’s just a stupid troll, don’t feed him!
warframe 🙂
black desert looks more better then this i its open world to and agrument for division downgrade because of this game is open world is dead this means black desert engine is far better then snow drop engine
“go play t=your cs go” Yeah, a game that is massively successful and has been for years.
In my opinion a great deal in its success or not except from the Content will be the Loot! If it becomes addictive like Destiny(I was playing 150 hours before I got my Gjallarhorn), then chances are people will play for a long time, even if they have other PC-Games like e-sports or MMOs.
this game has randomized l;oot like diablo and destiny.you can always get better gear and with no auction house that will mean no gear farming to sell gear.i think the division and destiny 2 if it ever comes out will take all my time..lol
Building up the base intrigued me; Sure it’s likely to be completed over the course of the game regardless but. I like that they connected the skill tree with base building. That would be something to keep me invested in the game for a while, especially if they lock off parts of the base to more challenging content (high level raids, etc).
Yeah, console gamers are used to being riveted by playing repetitive, dull, one-dimensional garbage gameplay. I’m sure they’ll eat up The Division.
I agree with this and proof of that is that article DSO gaming had 1 week ago with the top 10 revenue games on consoles and pc consoles had some crappy games on the list. 2 fifa games and 2 NHL games. Instead of great games like Metal gear 5 Rise of the Tomb Raider Mortal kombat 10 Mad Max e.t.c that list proved that yes realy console gamers because most of them are kids prefer easier games. I am currently playing Rise of the tomb raider on seasoned Raider difficulty . And have no issues at all. I am sure most console gamer will have trouble playing it even on Tomb Raider difficulty.
what do you think esports and mmo’s are.same repetitive game play over and over.mmo’s like wow quests go fetch thish or kill 10 of this 10000 to lvlor kill the same mob over and over to grind xp.
esports are fights that have the same out come just wating for some on to make a mistake so they lose.if you mess up a combo or didnt hit a button in time you lose the match.thats esports..lol
Yeah, eSports actually require SKILL. Not couch-based controller games where the gamers use auto-aim just to play because they have no skill. lol
Console gaming is primarily for kids who want everything handed to them. That’s where the ADHD COD generation came from: gimmegimme shooting mechanics where you push X to win. lol
yes skill as in if you mess up you are dead..loldont press the wrong button at the wrong time.i guess your calling that SKILL…LMAO
cod is an esport there are world championships. its also on pc nerd.
ps dont forget to press block at the right time or you have no SKILL..LOL
Yeah, skill means knowing what to do and when, !diot. And if you decide incorrectly you’re punished. That’s how you know the good players from the bad. Those who make the least mistakes are the best. You don’t even understand how skill is defined. But why am I not surprised?
COD is garbage. It’s popular with console kids who think they’re bad@sses because they get a decent k/d ratio with a g@ddamn controller while they slowly scan around the screen with a laggy analog stick to aim. lol So much so that they need aim assist just to get any kills because their only control scheme is unintuitive and clunky but they have to live with it because they have no options for anything better. lol It’s that or nothing.
Console gaming is defined by limitations and compromises and those who are locked into it can do little more than mental gymnastics trying to justify their inferior gaming experiences as actual positives: “Low framerates and low resolutions are more cinematic!” “Having to play FPSs with controllers makes us better!” “Mods(free content) are cheating(somehow) and therefore bad, but paid DLC is awesome!” “Getting games for really cheap are bad! Being forced to pay full price for every game is good!” “Having to wait 7-8 years to upgrade my hardware and having no choice in the matter is good!” It’s a big joke.
Console gamers are forced to walk with a crutch and have been convinced that the limp actually makes them better runners.
wow i didnt even read your post way to long.there is as much skill in pressing q to block as pressing x to shoot in cod….lol
fyi i dont care for the LONG post..lol p
I’d highly recommend watching Total Biscuit’s “My thoughts on … The Division”.
Having played the Beta myself I can safely say that he repeatedly hits the nail on the head.
the RPG element doesnt bother me that much. The worse was the lack of content, they really hurt themselves by just providing a few short missions.
I still question why they gave such a small slice of the game. No one can claim Ubisoft makes small games. But if this game is light on content for whatever reason it’s going to fail before it ever begins. It’s not as if the story is a secret, so why cut out the opening of the game? I may be overthinking it but the whole thing just doesn’t sit right with me. I’ve been hamstrung by Ubisoft enough times to know there is usually a reason for their “methods”.
It is like destiny a mmo in disquise, repetitive and bulletspongy as heck
Ubisoft simply can’t innovate in the AAA space, this game is generic as it gets and it’s behind the PCs MMO. RPGs by some years, I mean the game is behind destiny and that’s saying something.
what ubisoft this is massive and it was originally meant to be a pc exlusive. They mad ground control series.
It was a console exclusive when it was announced and they pulled that shady petition bs from PC players as to “gage interest”. Doesn’t sound like it was ever planned to be a PC exclusive.
It’s Ubisoft Massive.
It’s not a PC exclusive, rather the opposite (the game is designed around consoles, just look at the interface).
Ground Control IP is owned by Rebellion now.
Good day.
He’s saying it was a PC exclusive until Ubisoft got their hands on it, was meant to be a PC MMO.
My points is, who cares what was before? Ground Control is long forgotten, Massive is not an independent studio anymore, and Division is not the same Division it was suppose to be. They most likely rebooted the game for consoles.
Yeah doesn’t change anything does it but just a reminder what Ubisoft did to a game that was supposed to be PC only, then told us we should beg for it once Ubisoft had it.
I think it was always a Ubisoft’s title. After they bought Massive, they wanted to make an online division from it, so they handed them multiplayer part in Far Cry 3, after which they started working on their own game.
Most likely their interests shifted after all these MMO failures, such as SWtOR.
They are trying to push MMO on consoles, but they won’t be able to make a Massively Multiplayer Online game with modern graphics with this hardware.
Instead, we have this trash (same with Destiny) that is basically like Borderlands, but somehow called as MMO. I assume this is the reason they didn’t want to release it on PC, since it’s behind most of the big MMO titles PC can offer, but console peasants on the other hand have nothing to choose from.
The Division on PS4 has pretty much close to the PC as well, just another Watch Dogs downgrade and a lame generic third person game to boot, Screw this game, it’s going to be dead, Black Desert will be out next month and will be superior.
Airsoft Gun Simulator. Firearms are so weak that they completely destroy the entire feeling of authenticity.
Bungie’s The Division
Exactly, it feels just like Destiny’s ubiquitious blandness.
Today games need good visual (which every gamer wants), not more content. lol
Why is “AAA titles on console” the standard for good games? Big-budget duds that sell a lot of units but that no one plays two months later? That’s good?
I’ll argue the inverse: consoles can’t compete with billion-dollar eSports games on PC. Is that wrong? No. Does is matter? NO. Money is money.
Is the money spent on COD on console somehow BETTER than the billions spent on eSport games on PC? Your logic is so laughably flawed that it hurts to read your comments. I’d love to live in your brain for a day. I’ll bet it’s really swampy and cloudy in there.
If PC gaming wasn’t an extremely profitable platform NO ONE WOULD PUBLISH GAMES ON PC. If EA is stumbling over itself trying to make amends with PC gamers, it’s only because of the money that they want of ours.
How about you be a fan of gaming first and not a fan of corporate-branded PCs, which is all consoles are. When you open up your Xbone, there’s computer parts in there. Not fairy dust or little tech gremlins.
And finally, why do you even come to this website? You’re clearly not a PC gamer and this is a PC gaming-centric site. Are you bi-polar or something? Seriously?
Off-topic : Where is the Xcom2 article? It has been pretty well received.

This game looked dull from the outset. The only thing that interests me about it in the slightest is the safehouse feature, which supposedly gives you some context to all the combat, but there’d better be some story-rich content within the safehouses to motivate me to want to keep shooting or I’ll be bored with the game within hours.
Don’t dress up a wafer-thin MMO wannabe shooter as a deep RPG and expect PC gamers to bite. Unlike for console gamers, no amount of commercial promotional hype will keep people playing it on PC if the game itself isn’t good.
Don’t worry, Black Desert will be out next month, PC players will be playing that instead of this console trash.
I would think so, yeah. I’m not an MMO guy, but Black Desert looks really impressive.
Over-hyped, destined to be overrated.
