OtherSide Entertainment and Night Dive Studios have officially announced System Shock 3. While the teams have not revealed anything ground-breaking as of yet, we’ve got a new teaser website for System Shock 3.
In this teaser website, it is revealed that OtherSide is working closely with Night Dive Studios for this third part of the SS series. After all, Night Dive Studios owns the IP rights to System Shock.
Moreover, this website features an audio sample in which Shodan says:
“Did you think I’d forgotten you, insect?”
This following message is also revealed after taking a look at the source code of System Shock 3’s teaser website.
“Join the original team behind Ultima Underworld on a quest to rekindle this legendary fantasy RPG series.“
Stay tuned for more!
UPDATE:
OtherSide has issued a press release for System Shock 3.
“OtherSide Entertainment, the development studio behind the upcoming fantasy RPG Underworld Ascendant, is excited to officially announce development on System Shock 3, the sequel to the landmark System Shock series.
Last week, OtherSide posted a teaser website (www.othersidetease.com ) with cryptic lettering hinting at a new game. Internet hackers quickly cracked the site, prematurely revealing the game’s title. As part of the fun, series’ AI antagonist SHODAN appeared to mock the hackers with new taunts each day.
On the updated teaser site today, fans can hear popular voice actress Terri Brosius (System Shock 1 & 2, Dishonored) reprise her role as the voice of SHODAN and see an early peek at the evolving ‘next generation’ look of the character by artist Robb Waters.
Key members of the original System Shock and System Shock 2 teams will be part of the sequel. This includes Paul Neurath, who oversaw the original series’ development; Nate Wells, a senior artist on System Shock 2; and Waters, the lead concept artist of both original games.
The path to bring the System Shock franchise forward was long and winding. Several years back, OtherSide secured the exclusive IP rights to all future versions of the franchise. Only recently, through partnership with Night Dive Studios, who owns the System Shock trademark, did OtherSide get the rights to use the System Shock name for the sequel.
System Shock 3 is currently in the early concept stages of development.”

Meanwhile you can play system shock infinite on moddb
Thank you! Downloading… 🙂
hope they don’t make it console friendly. most of their fans are on PC. many console gamers don’t even know this IP exists.
It can be console-friendly for consoles (or PC with a pad plugged in) and PC-friendly for PC :). You know, different interfaces and no sacrificing of complexity.
Not true, a fully PC centric game will make full use of our inputs and a gamepad just can’t handle that much. The input system will need to be pared back to accomodate controllers.
this mentality is killing gaming….
No, the fact that he’s right but publishers refuse to accept it is what kills gaming. All attempts to make cross-platform games have failed. Just because the PC version is usually slightly superior doesn’t mean it’s a proper PC game.

Let’s take a in-game keyboard for example. On a pad you would navigate with sticks and select the right key while on a keyboard you would just press appropriate keys.
I know many devs make controls more simple overall for consoles, but that wouldn’t have to be the case.
another way to look at is that your stupid mindset of not casualising input methods is what made the abomination that was system shock 2’s control scheme
You think, maybe, that a game called System Shock 3 should be for people who actually liked System Shock 2? Just a thought.
No one liked the control scheme on SS2, story and gameplay wise of course
good luck with that. technically anything is possible for example Microsoft and Sony can also start sharing exclusives with each other from now on and treat PC fairly while still competing each other in a friendly atmosphere. i know i am exaggerating just to make a point. as i said, being PC and Console friendly isn’t impossible and happened before sometimes, but chances of it are low.
pulling off different interfaces without sacrificing complexity requires separate development time/different team. right now Otherside is busy with Underworld which needed a crowdfunding campaign in order to happen.
Isn’t Deus Ex: HR friendly both for consoles and PC? I played with the PC interface but I saw the console one with weapon selection circle and it was neat, too.
Well one thing most people don’t realize is, when a game is made for a controller the overall movement speed is slowed down, the reaction time of AI and even the level design is compromised. I think F.E.A.R 2 is a good example of this. Its not just the number of buttons.
“join the original team”
Sounds like the pitch to a kickstarter.
“rekindle”
Yep it hasn’t been fully greenlit yet. Needs kickstarter funds or some crowdfunding.

Yes, Yes Shodan is back !!!
Holy sh*t, if HAL and Shodan had a baby, what would it be? Skynet?
I can confirm that
‘k, nice knowing you all, time to leave this planet!
You are scaring me -_-
Actually, you were adopted 😛
lol
I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that.
Look at you, Hacker: A pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?
IDK, but at least I can type text in color.
I hope this games doesn’t have handholding, dumbed down gameplay and no challenge
They just need to make a fallout 4 like experience but more scifi maybe on a giant space station.
Peasant. GTFO
No, they need to make a System Shock game because that’s what they are calling their game. System Shock. Not “casual open world game in space”.
:))
Please don’t be some dumbed down console bullshit. That’s why we have BioShock!
