  1. whats with this simplification, biocells are now lockpicks and multitools? Is there someone taxing you per item variety? Why does every game needs to have as few items as possible?

          1. What are you talking about? Biocells replace the consumable energy bars and jars from HR. The original DX had biocells too which served the exact same purpose: replenishing your energy.

          2. Watch the vieo he says that you can use biocells to open new ways to go in diffirent areas. They are biogel from mass effect but instead of chests they open doors and power elevators.

          3. I missed that in the video. It is a simplification indeed, although we still don’t know if biocells are just one item.

But as for unlocking device, I personally didn’t even use it, since it’s a cheat, and as far as I remember it doesn’t give you any XP for a hack. Those, who played the game after the release and before the Director’s Cut didn’t even see it at all.

  2. The blink from Dishonored, the remote hacking from Bioshock 2 (including that mini game), the cover system from Rainbow Six Vegas…They have Deus Ex as an example, the game which is almost perfect in any sense of game design, but instead they trying to steal some questionable design decision from other games.

I especially hated that constant camera switching from Human Revolution (not sure why they think this is a great idea), as well as lack of melee combat, and it doesn’t look good here either.

Instead of offering more immersion by making the game 1st person only, they made “dash” from Gears of War (yeah, that’s exactly what we need!), and instead of adequate melee combat they offering us (again) to press X and watch a custcene.

    1. When I saw the first gameplay I liked how it borrowed some elements from other games (especially Crysis), but seeing this, I can’t find Deus Ex anymore. It’s all buried beneath every single game ever made apparently. 😐

      1. This. Every time I watch a video I’m searching for Deus Ex just like you. Sometimes I find it, sometimes I don’t. This video was devoid of it. I F’ING HOPE the game hasn’t become combat 1st everything else next.

    2. The original DX was far from perfect. The combat was awful and the AI was really stupid. DX was great in spite of these failings because it offered large, open-ended levels and complex, systemic gameplay that often had emergent results. From a purely mechanical standpoint, DX:MD looks to greatly improve upon on the original game,

As with the previous game, the third-person cover system is entirely optional. I disabled it during my playthrough. The cutscene takedowns are disappointing but a relatively minor gripe in the grand scheme of things.

Also, I don’t see how copying Blink or remote hacking are questionable in any way. They were two of the best mechanics from their respective games.

      1. Doesn’t matter what flaws the original game had, it’s a classic now. No one says they shouldn’t improve it, but instead, HR and MD don’t have any melee combat at all, and AI is probably the worse part of HR, sooo.. But why would you need a good AI, when you can dash from cover to cover in third person, just like in Gears of War?

Blink is a cheat power in Dishonored. It’s like playing Thief with blink. Made especially for fat lazy console kids. And that remote hacking from Bioshock 2 is simply frustrating, thanks to the mini game. And whoever from the HR team worked on Rainbow Six Vegas is probably so fond of his constant “1st-3rd” camera switching system, he will try to implement in any game, including Pac Man.

  3. That is one ugly explosion effect right there. Also, i prefer the old hacking look instead of the “prettier” new one.
